Sixties & Seventies

Back when ESPN was in its infancy, I was a sportswriter for a midsize Midwest daily. ESPN hadn't arrived in our market, so I was eager to tune in even if only for a limited time while I was in the big city for the state wrestling tournament.
So, after 10-12 hours of watching and writing about high school wrestling I'm back in my hotel room. I turn on the TV to ESPN to see … a college wrestling match.
Pre-recorded, of course. We're talking midnight.
Worse yet, the next night I wrap up work, turn on the TV and the same fur king wrestling match is being aired again.
