Sixties & Seventies

I grew up in the sixties, but as a kid was not aware till more recently what a dynamic time the sixties and early seventies were, so much going on culturally, socially, technologically. The famous people now seem larger than life, the colours vibrant and powerful, the cars the same! The music had a message, loud and proud, demanding to be heard, and listened to and acted upon.
Today, political correctness has made us all impotent, the laws chastising us for speaking out against injustice in the world, for criticising the huge, all powerful multinational corporations sucking the life force not just from us but from our home, the planet, but offering NOTHING in return!
It used to be a brave world, eager to move forward, ready to take on any challenge, the stars no limit! Now we cower from a virus like whimpering mice, stupidly influenced by self serving morons posting BS on the internet, the only invention of the last 50 years!
GET OFF YOUR ARSE WORLD. Smell the roses, embrace the power we all were BORN with and ACHIEVE something before we inevitably die and fade away.
I'd love to know what you all think too. Please post!

My hubby Steve tells me this car is a Mustang Milano that was a concept car but never made it into production. I love it! Did anyone ever see one or is Steve right?

He is one hundred percent correct. My brother is a Mustang nut and i texted him the pic and he called with an encyclopaedia worth of info lol

is that Evel Knievel? The girl is bonkers hot! What amazing tits! We know they are real too 'cause it's pre silicone, right? How could poor Evel concentrate on breaking records with thoughts of her in his head. Perhaps that is why he broke so many bones?

She is a model who was popular with drag racing promotions. There is another pic of her standing near a funny car wearing the same top. That poster was in my Dad’s shop for years

Her nipples, that is what being around danger does to women. And that is why men do dangerous stuff.

Did you mean to say When Time most Advanced?

I've been sitting here with my thumb up my ass since 1990. From an artists standpoint, it's fucking... the needle has not moved at all since Nirvana smashed Hollywood. There was Axl throwing a fit and then a baby in a pool and maybe Magnolia and then... nothing.

For 30 FUCKING YEARS!!!

I grew up in the 70s and I am here to tell you... so much shit took place in that decade that they're still going back to it now. It is ALMOST forever repeatable.

Almost. I'd like to hear some NEW songs. Okay?

Sorry, is there somehow no material to talk about? WTF?

Kurt Andersen, in Evil Geniuses, makes an argument that American culture in general has stagnated. For most of the 20th Century, fashion and music and everything else changed perceptibly from one decade to the next, but that has stopped in the past few decades. He even includes a scientific analysis showing that with respect to music.

There are absolutely some scientific indicators/reasons for why music has stagnated. Gene Simmons actually made a pretty decent argument in a random recent interview (US magazine, I believe; via clip) for how the industry itself has been ruined due to technology (or thievery).

Volume squishing and all that as well. Yup.

It would seem that decades are cyclical. Historically. But I do find it interesting that the children of my generation are ALL about the music of my youth as if it's better than their own. That's weird, right? Cuz I'm not a fan Show Tunes so... I'm not just the old guying saying, "Remember when".

There's something to it.

Sadly.
