I try not to let my bitterness show TOO much, it was a problem for me a couple of years ago when it seemed like everyone I knew was getting married, but I just have to remember that we consider ourselves as married as possible. Seriously though, Etoile, the tide is slowly turning. More companies are extending benefits to same sex partners. More states are recognizing civil unions in order to extend rights and benefits to same sex partners. The dinosaurs are dying out, but it takes time. Societies, just like animals, evolve over time.

Let us hope that our societal evolution is speeding up and that gay marriages/unions become common place and accepted everywhere. The quicker that we as a society accept the notion that as human beings we have the right to find love, sex, companionship, friendship, etc, and that as adults, we have the right to choose who we find that love, friendship, sex, and companionship with, regardless of gender, the better off our society will be.

But remember, here in the US we live in a society that says it's okay to show children people fighting and killing one another, but it's perverted to show them healthy, loving relationships. So we still have a LOT of growing up to do and re-prioritizing...
