Sliding Doors

Bob

I suddenly felt nervous as our faces came to rest just inches apart, but a good kind of nervous stemming from excitement and hope of what might happen. The urge to kiss her was almost overwhelming but it was still too soon. I would've made a move right then on someone I didn't care so much about, but I had higher hopes for Beauty. I wanted to do this right and not blow it by going too fast. I had to fight also to keep the hormones from flowing too fast in my body. It was difficult but I managed.

"Well, culture is one of the greatest things we have. That's why New York is so great." I was just babbling. I couldn't think of anything intelligent to say but I don't think clever conversation was on either of our minds at that point. I held her gaze and sunk further into her pretty eyes. She just smiled and nodded softly.

"Beauty, would you like to go out with me sometime? There's still a lot of shows I haven't seen. Maybe we could go see one of them?" I held her gaze but was abuzz with nerves inside. As much as I thought she liked me, one could never tell. I smiled and waited for her answer....

I tensed, he mentioned something about New York and culture... to be completely honest I hadn't really heard. My body was a little tense as I looked into his eyes, a handsome man, and something in his eyes kept my attention... something saying he could be the "one" that infamous "one" everyone talks about but I have yet to find.

"Beauty, would you like to go out with me sometime?"

My heart stopped, had he just asked that or had i imagined it? I felt my face flush a little but my head nodded softly as I smiled,

"I would love too."

My head swam, who would have though, what luck dropping my purse had turned out to be. This was the type of man I could bring home to my parents but I had a feeling he was the type I could go out and have fun with at the same time... a perfect mix a unpredictabilty and sensibleness...
