I wonder would they laugh if he committed suicide over the humiliation. People can put on a brave front but be mortally wounded beneath that exterior.

personally i love my wife saying i’m inadequate. i’m pretty average in reality but we play at it being useless and not part of the equation anymore. if she slaps it and says what the fuck is this, there is no internal trauma at all. That is a really good point. You have to know, really know, the person is into it but then still wonder if he's just saying that. Loving shame is not the norm.
