smoker, nonsmoker, or exsmoker?

Nonsmoker here. I have never tried to smoke, or had the urge to try it at all.

If were talkin' about "smokin", then==

I never inhaled. Do you hear that Madison, never! Okay, so I inhaled.
So your Dad will never be the President of the United States, and if I was, I would legalize the stuff, just like tobbacco. The taxes collected would eliminate the national debt in a N.Y. minute.

smoker

here and I really haven't honestly tried to quit, except when I was pregnant. Since then I've decided I'm not going to say "I'm quitting" until I really mean it. THEN I'll give 'em up for good. Problem is I like everything about smoking. I like lighting up, inhaling, blowing out.. hehe. I'm totally addicted to the shit.

Flamingo baby....my respect for you just grew about five "joints"...LOL

Smoked but quit when I started seeing what peoples lungs look like when we did our open hearts. OUCH OUCH OUCH!!!!
Healing time is prolonged and they have such a risk of infection and are generally so miserable I said "NO WAY".

Smoking actually provides a mild antidepressant effect so a lot of people may do better using a short course of meds to help the transition. It also helps to drink lots of water and once you quit don't ever think you can have just one. Cause if you read above it is just not a minor craving that addiction is hard to quit and all too easy to pick up.

I smoke Marlboro lights myself but if you can roll it and spin it and smoke it .....I have done it..........Only live once......

Nope..what a horrid way to die...

To suffocate over a period of months.

My mother smokes and it will be the death of her..

Never have tried it..or pot/weed/marijuana either..

The smell...yecch! The yellow fingers..yecch!

It's a sure way to kill the romance with me..Hmmm maybe that's why so many women take up smoking when they meet me. ;)

Ex-smoker by 1 1/2 years. Started when I was 16 and smoked for 33 years before I could quit. didn't want to until one day I was huffing and puffing up a trail with a 50 LB. pack on trying to keep up with a bunch of boy scouts and failing miserably. I used Zyban to quit, but it wasn't easy to do. And I'm very jealous of those who have quit and can't stand the smell of tobacco smoke. If I was careless I'm sure the smell of a cigarette could drag me right back to that 2 1/2 pack habit.
As far as other things. Been there done that, by the pound at one time in my life. A cup of cannabis tea in one hand a brownie in the other and a joint ready for dessert. Spent a whole year in a foreign country stoned.

Imagine how much worse it would be if it all stayed inside of you instead! EEEEWWWWWWW!

When I was in high school in the late 70's, I interned at a chemical research lab. There was all kinds of nasty halogenated solvents and corrosive agents, the kinds of carcinogens that you can't even purchase anymore. I asked the chemist I worked for about the safety of this stuff. He told me, "Nothing in here is as bad for you as nicotine."

Worked for me, never tried smoking.

i used to smoke ciggies ... then i quit for 10 years .... then i started smoking again for a couple of years and now i quit for 8 months ...

but i still smoke wacky tabaccy ... lol

I smoke, just not that EVIL tobacco. Have you heard Al and Bill talking about that stuff? If we could just make that stuff illegal! But we would have to then legalize pot, so we wouldn't loose the revenue, cause government could never do with less...

I'm a never-smoker. I don't even think I've had a lit cig to my lips. Really can't stand cig smoke and when it's on someone's clothes it's even worse than if it's 'fresh'.

Smoked everything one time or another. But not any more. Wouldn't have missed doing it, but won't go back either.

A certain longing for it, though when I see 3 or 4 guys standing under a street light on a summer night smoking and telling lies about girls.

I would like to say, that I have enjoyed reading all your post on this tread.Even though this is not my tread.

I liked reading how some people have never smoked, smoked and quit,or are still smokeing. And the personal thoughts and suggestions that I have read.

I personal think that we need treads like this every-once-in-a-while,just to keep balance on the board. And I would like to THANK everyone who has responded.

And Gingersnap!...I really liked your suggestion on the meds for helping with quitting. That is something to look into maybe for my wife and I,seeinz were kinda hyper anyways.

Non Smoker

Never ever for me - disgusting. I don't begrudge anyone else their choice though, just not in my house or my car. I move my ass up wind if I'm around smokers, it's me with an issue not them.

Only ever had a problem with it once - my best friend (we were 17) blew smoke in some one's face, I commented that if anyone ever did that to me I'd clock them one. He turned and did exactly that. I didn't even think, left hand upper cut caught him right on the jaw. I pulled the blow but still layed him out cold - never did it again though.

Smoker

10-15 clove cigarettes a day. The terrible thing is, I picked up cloves to kick menthols..LOL. I'm afraid to quit..everyone I know who has quit has gotten really fat. I realize that makes me shallow and petty, but I've got enough problems keeping my weight down. I figure I'm trading my lungs for the risks of weight gain--family history of diabetes, etc. I'm not sure yet how I feel about the trade.

And, like someone else said--if you can smoke it, I have. ;)

Quit cold turkey...

From 40 a day to 20 a day to 0 a day.

I put the last one out at 07:03 GMT Saturday morning, two days and nearly 17 hours ago.

Twitch twitch I feel fine, really I do Twitch twitch.
