My zinnias have outgrown the peppers now. Once they're gone it will be a huge bald spot.
Did the pineapple survive Ian?
I've got sunflower seedlings and gazania seedlings going on. The sunflower seeds should be ready to transplant into the ground in a few weeks. The gazania will take longer but they will last longer too. I've had gazania's last a couple years here. Sunflowers are just one season. But the bees love them.I've just seeded up some trays with zinnia, cosmos and rudbekia. They're in the cold frame and now it's snowing! Maybe the cold will let them know what season it is - UK spring![]()
Gazania - of course! You've reminded me, thanks. I'll try and find some seeds at the garden centre. I just love the way they embrace the sunshine, grinning back the the sun. I think they're a S African plant originally so their stay in the UK is normally brief but exuberant.I've got sunflower seedlings and gazania seedlings going on. I got weeds.
Looks like something out of ‘The Last of Us’Been doing too many other things in the yard so the pineapple did not get planted. It is doing well however. It is continuing to grow roots and the roots it has are getting more substantial.

But it did get a friend. I got another pineapple. Figured what they hay, for all the time involved I'll have two of them. I guess.

At my old house, in winter I dug up a rhubarb plant and thought I'd found a dead body. Seriously scarey, thick white limbs, buried. I never liked the stuff before, but now it gives me the creepsWatch out for the bromelain.![]()

We have a single rhubarb plant for an occasional pie or crumble. And another that is mostly ornamental. The pie plant is the first harvest of the season.I've never grown rhubarb. My aunt did. She made rhubarb strawberry pie. Eugh.![]()
I don't think rhubarb grows down here - not cold enough. I'm not sorry. We have a single rhubarb plant for an occasional pie or crumble. And another that is mostly ornamental. The pie plant is the first harvest of the season.
Rhubarb was used as a medicinal tonic in the 1700's and 1800's. It's still recommended by some practitioners.I don't think rhubarb grows down here - not cold enough. I'm not sorry.![]()
Hopefully better with gin than strawberries in a pie.Rhubarb was used as a medicinal tonic in the 1700's and 1800's. It's still recommended by some practitioners.
It goes well with gin.
Is that white gladiolus???
Ok. I only grew gladiolus. I see the difference now. Ugh, such a dork I is.Snapdragons. Well, off-white. Maybe more popcornish?![]()
Glads can grow in Florida. But they don't tend to last year after year like they do up north.Ok. I only grew gladiolus. I see the difference now. Ugh, such a dork I is.![]()
