So... Anyone ever grow a pineapple?

That's as big as it got. It won't get any bigger regardless of how long I leave it.

..
She's beautiful. :) Start a new one from her... um, head?

Thanks! :) Likely not. I'm not sure if I'll keep the pineapple plant I harvested her from.

food or pet?

Food. I am thinking about doing a ham and pineapple pizza. :D

Ahhh, so Cindy, not Marsha.

Actually, Marsha. Cindy died. Although Jan's pineapple should be bigger as she will have been in the ground for a year prior to fruiting. Jan will finally get her revenge.

.
Is Marsha as round as she looks in the pictures???

I don't know if I've ever seen a round pineapple.

The golden color is promising.

Hopefully she's very sweet.

:)

Also: Based on the size of the coffee mug, I'm guessing Marsha is the size of a softball. Is that correct???

Yes she is pretty round - about a softball. If bigger, not by much.

Leave it to Florida to grow a pineapple the size of a grapefruit.

The front bed is replanted. I broke up with the emerald green things. They flounced so they got bounced. However if they had just dug up nice I would have likely kept them - just down and over a few feet. Alas we do not live in a point and click gardening world. So out they went.

Instead two Maui red ixora are now in their place. Along with some lavender cuphea and some blue evolvulus. I sprinkled some monster zinnia seeds around too. I've got some marigold seeds to plant - but that will wait until another day.

My shoes are dirty, my socks are filthy and the plastic chair a bit uncomfortable but the bed looks great and the coffee tastes awesome.

Any gardening area in my yard is currently covered with white shit, except inside the greenhouse.

Coldville vs Hotville.

Hardly anything gets done here in the summer in the garden. By 8, 9am in the morning it's too hot and humid out to do hard labor. Now it's great weather for it. And I've got some projects. :D

Considering climate change, I should be planning to plant coconuts and pineapples in the yard.

Strawberries! Actually no I don't grow strawberries here. Did in the PNW - better weather for it. Less critters too.

I've set up a cold frame at the bf's place, ready to read the instructions for seeds etc. Feels like autumn here.... I guess that's because it is. Perdy flowers planned... zinnia were fab this year so more of them please.

It was a good season for zinnias here too.

We'll see how the asters do.

Hyacinth are early spring bulbs. It is time for them to fade. It looks you have it in a glass indoors. You can plant it outside. Part sun. Leave the foliage on it and let it feed the bulb as it continues its fade. Next February you will be rewarded with blooms.

I am assuming you have winter cold weather. If you're in my zone, pitch it after the scent is gone.

Anyone have an idea as to what is wrong with my hyacinth? Why is it looking like this? It was fine when I bought it.
