So... Here's My Thing

Glad to hear that your event in Ireland was so successful. Good luck to your wife on the possibility of having her work shown in the U.S.

My thoughts will be with you on Monday when you have the scans. I hope they find nothing, though I know you'd like some answers on what has caused your recent difficulties.

Yes! I've passed the point where I just want to know what is going on, of course Monday still will not give the answer, it will be another three weeks until I see the consultant, the blood tests they are doing take some time to produce results since what they are testing for is known to throw up negative results in routine testing. Of course if they find anything serious on the scans, I expect I'll be notified pretty quickly.

Thanks for your sweet thoughts.

Thanks Rob, Cloudy and EL - you are always appreciated.

I hope that you can improve your breathing capacity and that this episode was no more than a warning.

If you haven't done so already, make sure you get a flu jab if appropriate.

I have been suffering physical effects from a mis-spent youth for a long time and I know that included considerable exposure to airborne asbestos (and nuclear radiation from weaponry and, and...). So far the asbestos and radiation haven't affected me. I think I've decided to die from something else. Overexertion in sexual activities would be good.

Best wishes for the future.

Wills -

What terrible, terrible news. You've always been one of the real bright spots on this board, one of the truly good and talented ones, and a real inspiration.

Do what you have to do, but know that my thoughts go with you, and if there's ever anything I can do, just ask.

I wish you all the best.

Damn, Neon, that is sad news indeed. :(

You will always have a place here in our hearts and memories.

I almost did that as a job when I was 18, stripping asbestos out of an old school. I quit by lunchtime, not worth it for six bucks an hour. Glad I did.

I feel horrible that people got put through that, and hope it goes as well as it can for you. Best of luck.

Neon,

Your positive attitude is inspiring. Here's hopeing for continued improvement in your treatment and discoveriies toward better health. Take care of yourself and best wishes.

Neon,

Thanks for stopping by to let us know how you're doing.
I'm sure you're proud as hell of your wife.

Take care and I'll send some positive vibes your way on Monday.

I just saw this thread. I'm terriblyl, terribly sorry to hear the news. You're taking it with much more grace than I think I ever could. Even now it hurts just to imagine what you're going through. You have my prayers and good thoughts as well as the long list of others. May you be kept safe and in good care. Much peace to you. :rose:

What can one say....... Fuck!

had an ex-supervisor at my old job, brill bloke but same thing a few dex=cades after working with A as a teenager.

Nobody knew the risks, heart goes out to you and the many others in your situation. I have so much admiration for someone that can take something like this so level-headedly. Fight it and stay with us as long as you can manage!

Amorcito dulce, this is some roller-coaster we're on (all of us actually ;) ).

Hang on, I'm just a few cars behind (in spirit, metaphorically, however you need).

que te vaya bien,

Perdu   :rose:

Some of you have asked what is happening, here is an update.

The asbestosis is confirmed benign. There is no treatment other than to monitor its state. I've been given two options, my consultant wants to do 4 monthly check-ups, my GP feels we shouldn't keep checking, if the condition deteriorates, (it can become actively malignant 6-8 weeks life expectancy, or develop into full blown asbestosis giving progressively difficult breathing over a period of years) I will be the first to know about it. I'm inclined to go with the second choice, I have no desire to be exposed to radiation (x-rays/scans) on a regular basis when I have a condition with the potential to mutate into something more serious.

All advice is to live a normal life - I'm trying but this is sometimes easy advice to give and difficult to follow. Not helped by having to intitiate legal proceedings in order to comply with the three year limit on issuing proceedings once the illness is diagnosed. Trying to search for businesses, individuals, contracts and insurers from almost 40 years ago is no simple task, though I'm beginning to make some headway.

The asbestosis is entirely unconnected with the neuroligical disorder that continues to effect the left side of my body and my breathing. After five months of tests and evaluations we are no nearer to understanding what is causing the problems. I'm expecting bloodwork results tomorrow so I might have news then, for the moment I'm never quite sure which part of my body will not be 'switched on' when I wake, this weekend it has been a loss of balance as if my body won't align quickly enough when moving, it's like being drunk! Fun it isn't.

If I learn anything tomorrow, I'll post news.

Thanks for all your support.

Glad to hear the asbestosis was confirmed to be benign and here's loads of hope that it stays that way.

Sucks that you still don't know what is causing the nerve disorder. {{{HUGS}}} and :kiss:es
