Socialism

When I read these numbers I hope the foundations for our Ideals are strong enough to weather the coming storm. Our daedalus is being shaken.

The problem with polls isn't how they're being conducted, it's where.

Major metro areas aren't cross-sections of America. The views held there aren't universal. Yet, in order to get sufficient responses, polling outfits have to go to major metro areas and ask their questions there.

The responses are predictably skewed toward the metro area idealisms instead of America as a whole. Even in flyover country, the major cities follow this trend, albeit not as strongly.

Getting a true picture requires a lot more work over a longer time span than most polling outfits are willing to do, because they don't get paid any more for it than going the quick and easy route.

We know the w(R)ongs are opposed to helping people. They make that well known. Do for yourself or we'll do unto you.

Stop with the academic bullshit.

Stop with the ignorant bullshit.

That's not what the 43% that are the subject of the thread are talking about.

That must be why every 2020 (D) except Biden is openly advocating nationalizing major segments of the economy, in a few cases the vast majority of it and Warren wants an arbitrary cap on incomes?

Yea that's totally the same as taxing to provide public services.

Not to mention a little over a third of congressional (D)'s supporting AOC's New Green Deal....which would nationalize the vast majority of the economy and redistribute wealth along racial lines.

The (D)'s aren't all FDR social liberals anymore....there is a growing number that are proper Socialist and openly so.

A new Gallup poll released Monday found that 43 percent of Americans think socialism would be a good thing for the United States, while 51 percent say it would be a bad thing.

When you hear the word socialism, what thoughts come to your mind?

Tells you something about his following.

vettebirther, the American people wanting socialism is a direct reflection of the current administration's lack of compassion and care for their voters. This number would not be that high under a decent administration.

I haven't paid a penny in State or Federal income tax in close to ten years now and see no reason I ever will again.

Socialism = caring for people? Compassion and care??

That must be why it's so bloody it makes the Nazis look like fuckin' rookies when it comes to mass murder.

socialism removes the reward for excelling. it removes the reward for innovation. make a list of important advancements or contributions to mankind from primarily socialist countries vs primarily capitalist countries over the last 100 years.

in a vacuum socialism is a great idea. everybody contributes and everybody prospers. the reality is that some will contribute and others will simply take. why should I bust my ass when I can take instead? why should I take the risk of business when the reward is
taken away?

Socialism is wrong and some Americans are ignorant if they think it's a good idea. I was exposed to this ignorance recently. I was at a farm stand where you could pick strawberries. As I was returning to my car, another car pulled in and the driver motioned to speak to me. He asked if you had to pay to pick strawberries. I cannot comprehend a mind set in this country whereby you could benefit from the efforts of someone else and not compensate them. From where would that thought even come from? Likely from someone who thinks socialism is a good idea. Give me something for nothing.
Stop this crap. Nothing is free. You have to pay for everything. Grow up and work harder and demand your government lets you keep more of your hard earned money.
The government is not a charity. If we allused our heads and took care of ourselves, we wouldn't need so many government programs. There IS a role for government. Wiping your ass is not that role.

He didn't even identify socialism....a word you need to look up as bad as he does.

He conflated social liberalism with socialism, as did cleaver..
Stop whining...it's unmanly.
Most people laugh at your continual specious redefinition of words to meet your own preconceived political biases.

The BotanyBastard Creed
  • My Free Healthcare Good
  • Your Free Healthcare Bad
  • If it benefits me personally, it's social liberalism.
  • If it doesn't benefit me personally, it's Bad Socialism.
  • I am technically a liberal
  • I have never supported Trump
  • Ignorance Is Strength
  • Freedom Is Slavery
  • Anything that disagrees with my position is a lie
  • Anyone who disagrees with me is a racist
  • I'm a Situational Korean Victim Dammit (25% pure!)
  • We have always been at war with Eastasia
  • Just because I don't pay one fucking dime out of pocket doesn't mean it's "free"

"But but teh dictionary sez!"

The HC isn't free no matter how dishonest you try and be about that. But hey don't let the facts stop you from looking ignorant and uneducated.....your favorite activity in political threads. ;) Now tuck tail and scurry off like usual.
You know you can't refute what I've said and you don't have the nuts to own up to the fact that you're demonstrably wrong.

Puff up that chest and beat it with both fists. You are a winner!

What was that about being so dumb, his parents had to water him daily ... like a plant.

oHhh look....the left can't defend their vile political ideology with anything but shit talk.

Imagine that :)

I'm not the one redefining the word Rob.

Which is why you won't provide any definition much less cite any sources that define it as "civil/public services provided through democratic means." .

You'll find that under democratic/social liberalism.

"But but teh dictionary sez!"

That's right Rob...and so do the encyclopedias and every Poli-sci textbook written in the last century as well as the DSAs (Democratic Socialist of America) own website and official platform. None of which you can refute even in the slightest.

You'd know that if you had ever read anything on the subject instead of persisting in your ignorance.

The BotanyBastard Creed

More dishonesty from Rob...

Why must you be so dishonest Rob???:D

Must be your total inability to defend your position and lacking of the integrity to admit you were wrong....yet again. ;)

How would you know who is opposed to helping people? You often talk about genociding all humans.

Venezuela, Cuba, the Soviet Union, basically every shit hole that's ever tried it.

It's a theory which seems to be supported by current events and outcomes vis a vis the poll data.

I think it's a reasonable theory.

Also, the polls could be wrong because the left is always doxing people they don't agree with and ruining their lives. So why would people who commit leftist wrong think publicly share their opinions to anyone?

I used to be a very trusting person. I've finally learned to trust no one.

Incorrect (as usual). I postulate hypothetically about the total extinction of all humans, everywhere without consideration of political or financial status. And all at once, instantly with the snap of my fingers, so there is no fear or suffering.

Ahhh for the greater good!!!

What an excellent comrade.....

Well, let me tell you about helping people.

Giving a man a fish is instant gratification help, and everybody is happy. But it's shortsighted, and causes more problems in the long run, like creating independence on men with fish.

Teaching a man to fish is time consuming and frustrating for everyone, and the guy helping ends up getting called a colonial racist, sexist, homophobe, etc.

Unfortunately, some people are too stupid to be taught how to fish. They have to learn on their own.

2 counter points:

1. But that fish I was given was tasty!!! :D

2. Yumm, I like grilled fish. You should give me yours and go catch another one for yourself. I'll even hold your beer while you go do that. :D :D
