Socialism

I rather like not being terrified of getting ill. Or getting old. Or losing my job.

Right? Because then you'd have no incentive to make healthy choices, or get a job and be a productive member of society. And never have to face the ultimate truth of death so that on your deathbed you are so terrified you'll think you're in Hell.

Utopia is nothingness.

And yet I've worked all my life. And America is the healthiest nation on Earth, right?

Sean blurts the mantra of cowards everywhere - "I don't wanna DIE!!!!!!"

I don't really pay much attention to you, but do you always resort to hyperbolic ascription like a dumb fucking bitch? I never said America was the healthiest nation on Earth.

What sort of "unhealthy choices" result in kidney cancer? I'm asking for a fellow board member.

America will never be a social democracy. That would mean they would have to either raise taxes for healthcare or defund their military. Defunding thier military would leave them open and vulnerable and of course at a disadvantage supplying thier oil and opiate supply lines. Essentially, they could not afford to enforce thier constitution of protecting "American interests" or "freedoms" any longer. Freedoms some very rich ((people)) hide behind. Freedoms backed with bombs. But this is all very common knowledge.

I'm crushed. No, really.

Cherry picking strawman fallacy!

Our world is imperfect. Luck shines on the innocent and guilty.

Alright, let's widen the net to include all children with cancer ("defectives" in Julybabby04-speak). What unhealthy lifestyle choices did they all choose? Hmmm?

I can tell. I've neutered your brain into posting nothing of any substance.

Don't give yourself too much credit. That happened years ago.

Meanwhile, if we're still playing word association with "socialism," my entries would be poverty, failure, government repression, hunger, chronic shortages and despair.
Give me time and I'm sure I can come up with more.

Every genuinely democratic country has some socialist policies paid for by taxation.

The extent by which socialist policies extend depends on democratic choices by the voting electorate. Some self-declared 'socialist' states are/were not democratic at all but run by dictatorships or oligarchs. Those in power never give up their privileges to benefit the masses, although they say they do.

Furthermore socialism would require some degree of social responsibility, which to think being a large amount of America being Christian, would go hand in hand. But it doesn't for some reason. Why? Because those who are the richest in the US are (((not))) Christian? Maybe. Or is it because they're the ones primarily funding the candidates to keep the Capitalist machine rolling.

You didn't widen shit. You're still cherry picking cancer.

You're being truculent.

Okay, let's go full-Republican and stipulate that lung cancer is always the fault of smoking and liver cancer is always the fault of drinking. Those people have an obligation to die and not put an undue burden on insurance companies so that Julybabby04 can enjoy lower insurance premiums.

There's something like 200 other possible cancers a human being can suffer from.....are all of them the result of "unhealthy lifestyle choices"?

It seems fairly likely that those answering the poll don't really quite get the various options that are actually available for organising the economic and social structures of a state.

I prefer to not being terrified of the god state and good comrades like yourself not having the authority to decide my family and I need to starve to death this winter "for the greater good" .

We've already lived through the horror of that once.

It's all Rob has.

Social policy =/= socialist policy.

Socialist policy is giving government control over the means and markets and has NOTHING to do with benefiting the masses.

You're still cherry picking.

Why aren't you mentioning obesity? Or drug addiction? Or alcoholism? Or heart disease?

Your cancer analogies fall apart too when compared to Asbestosis/Mesothelioma cases. From there, shouldn't the companies (like big tobacco - equally at fault as the asbestos industry) which played a part in creating your disease be responsible for the medical costs/damages they caused?

Why should society in general have to pay to care for you because of your bad life choices when the real perpetrators don't?

I love how all the biggest fans of socialism are all well off people who are well off because Capitalism.

You go ask someone who lived in a socialist utopia like the Soviet Union, China, N. Korea, Cuba etc....ask someone who's had their family starved/slaved to death or just exterminated for convenience and bulldozed into a mass grave with a 10,000 other people what they think of socialism and you get a much different response.

Ask a supposed fan of socialism why they aren't FLEEING to N. Korea or Venezuela and all they do is name call and make up wild ascriptions to try and smear you with.

I wonder why that is

Those countries listed are NOT socialist utopias. They are/were dictatorships that claimed to be socialist while the leaders were robbing the country.
