Space Pirates (OOC, always open)

Name: Clarke "Darwin" Jackson

Age:23

Physical appearance: Darwin stands at 6'3" and is extremely skinny (he often forgets to eat). He keeps his long light-brown hair in a messy pony tail. His skin is pale white, and he has really bad posture.

Skills: Darwin has an IQ over 200 and is a brilliant scientist and engineer. He spent his first twenty years studying a wide variety of sciences, and has six PhDs (physics, biology, chemistry, geology, astronomy, and engineering. He earned his astronomy PhD at the age of 12). Darwin has used his genius level intellect to build his own ship, robotic crew, weapons, and variety of other inventions.

Clothing: Darwin wears a dark grey jumpsuit. Over his jump suit he wears a white lab coat. He also wears thick black rimmed glasses.

Weapons: Darwin has a variety of weapons on his ship, but his favorite is his plasma pistol which is roughly ten times more powerful than a standard Alliance laser rifle.

History: Darwin grew up on the Alliance capital of Earth. He was the child of two brilliant scientists and was raised as a child prodigy. He not only lived up to his high expectations, he succeeded them, earning his first of six PhDs at twelve. At 20 he discovered a new way to travel through hyperspace. A way that would sever the Alliance's hold on the starship industry. After his laboratory and research were destroyed, Darwin spent the next two years of his life building his spaceship "The Other" and its robotic crew. He then left Alliance territory for deep space where he worked on his research in almost total isolation for a year. Now he is searching for a crew to assist him in his expedition to find a planet he can mine for his new fuel source.

That's my guy. Darwin the space nerd! The reason I posted so many weapon pictures is because once everyone is on his ship, they can check out his armory and take some weapons. Those are just a few of the many guns he's built (building guns is kind of his hobby lol)

As for rpkitten's characters I'm going to vote for either Nima or Hana Duet. Or both lol.

Haha, I like Nima more, but whatever one works. Your character sounds good and I'm putting up the IC!

I think I may step out for now and just watch how things go. Have fun though.

I said i'll jump in if things captivate my interest more. It did and now God of the white stallions is in.
Though i'll be playing as an antagonist if that's allowed.
The general of the alliance army who is in charge of capturing the pirates while at the same time plotting to control our galaxy with the power of the....haven't figured it out yet. Lol.

BOO!

Yay!

Alright, that's two votes for the kitty (unsurprising given my user name ~LOL~). So I'll play Nima as my main character and Pix as well -- I don't see her taking much time... she'll just be popping in and out causing mischief and silliness aboard the ship. Can't wait to set her loose in Darwin's workshop. Hehehehehehehe.

And I can also play Cassie a little as a side character if Stalzyn's general needs someone to play off of.

And a couple questions...

About technology, is there a certainly Sci-Fi universe we can use as a model? Like, "the technology is similar to <BLANK>".

Or, more specifically...
1) Do guns shoot bullets, lasers or something else?
2) Are the anti-gravity systems fantastical (like Star Wars/Trek) or more realistic and require the ships and stations to rotate?
3) What about faster-than-light travel? Go anywhere at any time (like Star Wars/Trek) or does it require the use of gates or jump points?

Also, about Nima, what are your thoughts regarding the part she plays? Is she a victim of the pirates? An employer? Not to make me the center of it all, but it could be that the antagonistic general character is hunting her (or something she discovered) and she's hired the pirates to sneak her out of sector. Or the general has raided her ship and she hires the pirates to get her archaeological treasures back. If we go that direction, I think it would make most sense to introduce her during that raid, and then have her meet up in the Space Bar later.

I'm just not sure which way I should introduce her, so I'd love to hear all of your thoughts.

Also, I think I'm inspired by the picture I used for her and may give her some kind of "magic" (or Mass Effect style "biotic") abilities or make her race psychic/empathic. Hope that's okay.

1. The guns can shoot whatever you want them to shoot, if you want lasers then have lasers, if you want bullets then have bullets.

2. more realistic

3. There can be faster then light travel, but it requires gates.

I like the part about her being hunted, although we'll need to get someone to play a antagonist, or you could play them. And yes you can use powers.

I believe Stalzyn expressed interest in playing such a character.

Cassie will do just fine. I'll really need a female genuis by my side as i hunt down the pirates. Plus i will get bored if not with a female partner.
As for Nima. Lets say she stole a map that leads to an archeological weapon or something from the alliance kingdom.
While she has to prevent the map from getting into my character's hand she'll be on her own personal quest to find the archeological weapon and end the tyranny of the alliance.
Just an idea.
I'll post my character bio when a storyline is decided.

Alright so I'm not so great at ideas... For a storyline, so anybody have any? I created the IC already.

Sounds good to me, Stalzyn. I'll post Nima arriving at Allison's bar tonight and if you want to set the scene on the Alliance ship I can reply to that with a Cassie post.

An archeological structure was found on one of jupiter's moon. From the markings on the structure or cave, Nima learns of an ancient device that can blast out any planet or ship with just a click. Lets assume the alliance was the one that contracted Nima so on discovering the map inside the cave, she decides to keep it away from the alliance whose purpose was to find the device and control the universe.

Is this for a storyline?

What if there was some ancient super advanced civilization (think the dudes in mass effect. The blobby pink squid dudes call them enkindlers, but I forget what everyone else calls them) that had built an empire on deep space. The Alliance has found a small amount of evidence that this culture existed, but they don't have the technology to reach the empire in deep space. So they make sure anyone who finds out about it is killed to preserve the secret. Nima finds proof of the empire on a moon of Jupiter (I'm thinking an engine that will allow them to actually reach the empire in deep space. Not a hyperspace engine, but something way better than anything in the Alliance) and that's why she's being hunted. She flees to the space bar where the story is looking for a way to get to deep space. That's where my character would come in. He could put the super engine in his ship and the could find the empire in deep space.

Does that work for everyone?

I like it, from there we could just play it ear by ear, if the rp last.

Doesn't hurt my feelings any. Iw as planning for more a play it by ear sort. You know like Serenty/Firefly where c'mon even the MOVIE barely has a plot that extends beyond "don't get caught by the government" until the last twenty minutes. And that can be summed up fairly quickly too. Regardless this si cool, someone link the bloody IC and I'll try to get something up. I'll probably be just as absent tommorow and like I said, passed out on Monday.

This is my character, your antagonist.
Name: Mart Vladingra
Age: 27
Abilities: Superhuman strength and intellect. Can be intangible at will.
Physical attributes: stands 6'2 with long deep red hair that extends to his waist. Clearly not human because of his abilities but humanoid looking. Deep red eyes also.
History: Identity prior to working with the Alliance is unknown. Unlike other soldiers, Mart started out as a captain rather than a recruit, with his knack for strategy and brilliant battleplan, he quickly rose up the ranks.
Seven annuals of being in the army, Mart was now a renowned general, famous and highly feared.
***
The Hades, Alliance spaceship that Mart is now in charge of. More than a decade work. Built by the greatest minds in our galaxy. One of them being Clarke Darwin. Dead according to Alliance records.

Hope my post will help give the story a reasonable bearing.

You got a couple things wrong about Darwin. He never worked directly for the Alliance. He lived on an Alliance planet (Earth) but he never built or did any research for them (like you can live in America but not have a government job). After he completed school he started research on his own (he was pretty much still living with his parents and exterminating in their home lab) and that's when he discovered the new fuel source. He didn't actually physically find it, just an equation or some other thing that shows it does exist. That's when he started building his own ship to go to deep space, and the Alliance hacked him to find out about his plans. He never actually worked or built anything for them. I do like your idea though, so how about instead of Darwin doing all of that stuff, his mother and father did it instead? They're both geniuses too.

And one last thing. Darwin is just a nickname. His actual name is Clarke Jackson.

Fine! I'll have it your way.
Now you have to do it my way.
The space station on the moon has been instructed not to allow any unauthorised ship to leave and every authorised ship is to relay its route to my ship. Your ship can be either, i don't really care.
You can disobey the space station and leave the moon's orbit. I don't care. But you'll be followed. Is all.

Yea. We're going out without permission lol. Let the chase begin!
