spending christmas alone.....

This Christmas will be my first ever away from my kids and parents......but also my first with Master, so there is joy among the sadness......

Last year I was in danger of spending it alone, but my daughter decided she would come and spend the afternoon with me, while my son stayed with my ex and his family. This was amid the preparations for going to live in Australia with Master so it was a hectic time - this year will be relatively quiet in comparison!

I'd imagine. How's your master doing? What kind of consessions do you make for the holidays with his problems?

Been where you will be Christmas day and it is as you say, happiness and sadness all mixed in together. Keeps the telephone companies in business though. Hope you don't get too down.

*Walks in and looks around. Hmmm.... lonesome Christmas thread. Reaches in bag, tosses Reese's cups, Kit Kats, Butterfingers, and Hershey bars to dolf, catalina, grace, cutie, bandit, silver_inari, starfish, caela, bridget, Netz, witcha. Checks bag. Yep, still plenty left from KC's candybar thread. Heads out the door to share some more.

Thank you for asking graceanne :) Master is recovering from having an abscessed tooth removed on Saturday, other than that He is as well as can be expected. Nothing has really been set in stone for Christmas Day yet, we may go visit His parents but there are a couple of relatives coming that He is not keen on to put it mildly, so we might just have a quiet day at home and go to the local club for Christmas Dinner. I will also be spending time on the phone before we go out!

Consessions.....if we need to be somewhere early He has to get on His dialysis machine earlier the night before, so He can get off it by 7am. He also has to do a daily drain 4-5 hours after that of the fluid left in His abdomen, so if we are out anywhere we have to take the equipment for that. He usually tries to do that before we leave the house, so most appointments/visits etc are in the afternoons if possible. It's lucky I have a large backpack type bag, because as well as the usual stuff females have in their bags I also take His glucometer (plus testing strips and finger pricker), extra jellybeans and a small bottle of sweet soft drink in case His sugar levels drop!:D

LOL So. . . just a wild guess, but I take it you don't ever get to just drop everything and go somewhere? Your masters very lucky he has you to help him with all that, just like I'm very lucky to have K when we have to go somewhere. Well, I hope your christmas is perfect. *hugs*

*Wanders in, accepts kiss on cheek from silver_inari, tosses Bandit a Snickers from his bag, wanders back out again.*

*Hugs graceanne back* :rose:
Sometimes we do, just to get us out of the house - if it's not too hot that is! :) We have been known to go have fish and chips down at the beach, and one day Master took me to a park which had birds and even a baby wallaby (no koalas though, I haven't seen one yet  ) And I haven't seen any snakes, but the garden outside has little brown geckos which rustle the leaves and give me a fright when they dash across the path

Thanks for the Snickers Sir W :rose:
:p

Keep this up and I'll make you watch It's a wonderful life, A Christmas Story and any other painful Christmas movie over and over for the whole day.

You know, I've never watched It's a Wonderful Life. I've always managed to avoid it. A Christmas Story is a different story. If I'm actually able to spend time at home on Christmas I generally just leave the TV tuned to whichever channel it is that just plays it back to back all day long.

Christmas day also looks like it will be smack dab in the middle of a long stretch without a day off. Because the other 3rd shift person is taking her vacation time, I'm going to be working 3rd shifts from the 18th through the 30th straight. The only consolation is that I will have New Year's Eve and Day off. Now I just need to find someone to spend those days with.

Likewise...for some reason the movie annoys me, what little I've seen of it. A Christmas Story, now that one I could watch over and over again...

I always love seeing Ralphie come down the stairs in the bunny sleepers his aunt makes for him. That and watching him rub the leg of his father's 'prestigious award'. :D

Oh honey you NEED to watch It's A Wonderful Life. You just NEED to.

*Wanders off singing "Buffalo gals won'tcha come out tonight, won'tcha come out tonight, won'tcha come out tonight? Buffalo als won'tcha come out tonight...... aaaaaaaaaannnnnnnndddddd... dance.... by the light... of the moooooooooon.................

what was your wish?"*

I just can't bring myself to even try. I've seen all of the tributes done to it in other shows and I just don't care for it. Besides, by not seeing I remain outside of the American mainstream.

Other movies I haven't seen:

Titanic
Top Gun
There are others that I just can't think of right now.
