Dartum
He winced as the explosion rocketed the X-Wing. He had flown too close, and a huge blast had demolished one of the buildings. As his vehicle continued to fly away, he heard another similiar one.
They had broke through the shield, and now they were going in for the kill.
"This is Dartum, Jedi knight. Everyone is to abandon immediately, the shield has been destroyed, I repeat, the shield is destroyed. Drop everything and leave now, get your butts outta here."
He dipped the wing into a sharp arch, turning around to fire at the few vehicles that were still coming ever more to the base. By now, groups of droids and storm troopers had made it past defences, and were throwing chargers into certain buildings. In an instant they fillied with smoke and fire.
He couldn't fire at them, they were too close to the base. He would probably hurt more rebels than troopers.
Turning back around, he continued to dent the attacking force, but realized even he wasn't doing any good anymore.
It was hopeless.
He looked upon the battlefield, smoke and fire billowing out into the mid-morning air. The plan had worked, one way or another, it had worked.
For some reason, he felt sick to his stomach.
