STARGATE SG-6

Dr Shaw

"Hi, I'm Doctor Shaw" I said.

"Ah, so you're the new blood General Hammond brought in?" she replied, looking over some monitors as the other medical staff bustled about our guest.

"Yes, there is a mature goa'uld linked with her nervous system... though the link doesn't seem to be intrusive. The link resembles that of the Tok'Ra which Samantha - Dr Carter - brought back with her once... I'll have to run some brainscan tests to make sure..."

"Can I talk with Rose... Brier... while you do?" I asked.

"Certainly. The conversation will make it easier to single out the two patterns" she replied.

"Rose... you'd better tell us about yourself, how you got here... and so on..." I said.

Ka'uwal

OOC:I'm ready to come in when ever you need me Kepic

OOC: Sorry to keep you waiting Dirk13 - once we get to Bubastis to meet with Bastet and probably attempt a rescue op for SG-10, I should be able to get you into the storyline

Rose/Brier

"It...well it all started when dad got home for leave. He'd left in a hurry and...he'd brought something with him." Rose said hesitantly.

"It was a time travel device apparently..." Brier broke in.
"They appeared on my ship, my current host had been injured and the sarcophagus was damaged, and I could not heal him. I offered Capt. Thorn the chance to be my host and go into stasis. We had since figured out the time period he was from, but we were attacked again..."

"Dad was hurt...badly, he used what we had to write the note and stuff you found while Brier and I fixed the sarcophagus. We hoped we'd be able to fix it in time but..." Rose trailed off, feeling tears well.

"Afterwards," Brier continued softly, "we launched the pod and the sarcophagus to earth..."

Silent, remaining as unobtrusive as possible, I listened to her story unfold.

OOC: ^to the top^ still thinking about this, don't want myself to forget it!

Dr Frasier said "Well, it seems a benign merging, I see no reason not to clear Rose from a medical viewpoint".

I nodded, and smiled, "well, welcome Rose... Brier... I'm new here myself at the SGC" I said, "I'm sure the General will be able to accomodate you".

Just as I mentioned the General, the door opened and a marine stepped in. He saluted Captain Taggert.

"Sir, there is a briefing for SG-6 in ten minutes" he said.

OOC: KM, would you do the briefing honours? SG-6 will be going to Bubastis to meet with Bastet/her forces and determine the possibility of successful negotiation/rescue etc. I've come up with a plan for Bastet now <snickers evilly>.

Rose / Brier

"I wish to help if possable..." Brier spoke up. Rose smiled slightly. He hated feeling useless.

OOC: Sorry so short....

OOC: OK, I'll think on it and post in a few hours, edit this one so I don't rack up the OOCs. I can change anything that might be wrong.

IC: I saluted the Lance Corporal and turned to Doctor Shaw. "If you'll come with me Doctor."

The Doctor and Captain Thorn's daughter followed me to the briefing room. General Hammond was there, so I left the decision about her presence up to him.

The Gunnery Sergeant yelled, "Atten-HUT!"

The marines in the room leaped to their feet, barring the General.

"All present and or accounted for ma'am!"

"Thank you Gunny." I took my position at the front of the room. "Any news Gunny"

"No ma'am. Silence from the team. The last communication occurred at 0730 as scheduled yesterday. Nothing since then. All attempts at raising them have failed. We have verified that the Bastet has them, but not their status. They are being held incommunicado."

"As of now, SG-6 will be going to Bubastis to negotiate a release of SG-10 from Bastet. Dr. Shaw will be accompanying us to handle the negotiations. We will be departing at 2200 hours. This is a mission into hostile territory gentlemen. You will remain locked and loaded at all times. If we are unable to peacably extract SG-10 from the Bastet, we will attempt a rescue. There is to be minimal fire upon the Bastet, this will be a blacks ops mission.

"Our secondary mission is to gather intelligence as always.

"Ammo issue is tier one and tier two. Douglas, the 60 is yours. Dr. Shaw will be giving a briefing on the Bastet." I stated over the muffled groans. "Gentlemen." I snapped sharply. "We are all veterans of missions, but it would behoove us to pay careful attention to Dr. Shaw. We are not negotiators, we are marines. Dr. Shaw?"

Dr Shaw

OOC: Coooooool KM! I knew you were right for the job!

IC:
"Thank you, Captain" I said, trying to collect my thoughts quickly, then turned to the marines now seating themselves about the briefing room table.

"Bastet was, in Egyptian mythology, the cat-headed goddess of fertility. She was also Ra's daughter. In the egyptian pantheon, her responsibilities were sex and childbirth -"

At that, the marines suddenly seemed to be actually interested in what I was saying.

"- and her cat-servants symbolized the luck of people's houses: in particular, when fire broke out, they were thought to run deliberately into the flames, to draw the power of the fire into themselves and so save the household at the expense of their own lives" I said.

"Thats the egyptian mythology on Bastet - now some educated guesses of mine regarding what we might be up against..."

I paused for a moment, "She in all likelihood has access to a powerful aphrodisiac dust, much like Hathor used against this base. Only women, goa'ulds and jaffa will be able to resist this, so be on your guard. Dr Frasier has developed an antidote to this, but it must be injected after exposure to the goa'uld drug - it's not a preventative measure. As for the world where we are heading, Bubastis was the name of a town in the Nile Delta, where she was particularly worshipped - Bubastis means 'Bastet's place'. It is likely that the humans that live there regard her as a benign and beneficient deity, so we should not trust any of the natives as it were for assistance - they may well in fact hamper any attempt at a rescue of SG-10. That's all I can tell you at the moment, until we come into contact with their culture".

"Thank you Dr Shaw" said General Hammond, "as you heard, the aphrodisiac is a primary threat to the mission, and since only Captain Taggert and Sergeant Verrity in SG-6 is naturally immune to this goa'uld drug, I am assigning Rose and Brier to the team, if she - they - would accept. Doctor Frasier has informed me off the results of her tests - her DNA test has confirmed Captain Thorn was her father, and we have found him missing from his home. Her story appears to be genuine, and 'they' might provide some useful goa'uld insights on this operation. As the Captain said, 2200 hours. Good luck and god speed".

Rose/Brier

Rose blinked as the General said Brier and she were on the team. She'd thought she'd get the brush off for being so young, well...in body at least Brier reminded her.

"I...accept." Rose said hesitantly.

"We accept..." Brier said softly.

"Ummm..." Rose looked around at all the green, then back at her own clothes.

"I guess I need to change or something..." she muttered.

Brier had went into his calculating mode, summing up their resources. The ribbon device (that is the hand thing?); jolt bracelet, which was wrapped around her wrist in the form of a snake; and the poison ring. He felt a bit secure, but would have like his old lab at the moment....

OOC: Thank you :)

IC: I swallowed it well, only the general noticed I think. But then, I never wanted civilians in on a military operation. Civilians screwed everything up. Dr. Shaw was bad enough, at least he was a big boy and if he was shot, well, it wouldn't be on my conscience.

Thorn, however, if she was shot, well her father, if we ever found the man, would have my hide for a wallhanging.

"Sergeant Verity." My voice cut through the room, indicating the lowest ranking female marine. "Take Ms. Thorn and get her outfitted. Gunny, how are perperations?"

"Complete ma'am. Except for final checks."

"Good. Onbase liberty until 1800 hours." Pivoting on my heel, I marched out of the room. My destination was my office where mounds of paperwork always awaited me. Additionally, I personally preformed a final check for mission readiness. Gunnery Sergeant Malloy was among the best, but he wasn't ultimately responsible for the mission.

Rose / Brier

Rose was outfitted quickly with Sergeant Verity's help. The Sergent had asked if she wanted to leave the jewlery on base but she'd said Brier never left. Sentimental value. She glanced at her self in the mirror of the bathroom they were in. She pulled the brush some had found for her quickly through her hair.

*I shall never become accustomed to this...* Brier mumured.

*What?*

*Being a female. I...miss things.*

*Go no further Brier...I don't wanna know.*

She pulled the troublesome curls back into a braid and stepped out to ask the Sergeant what to do next.

Dr Shaw

I spent my downtime looking through the SGC's records, seeing if I could find anything that might be useful, and specifically going over Dr Jackson's linguistic notes.

Rose and Brier would be of great help I thought to myself, the Tok'ra goa'uld in her and its knowledge would aid the StarGate program considerably. I only hoped my trust in her - and 'him' - was well placed.

2135 hours.

My marines are in position. Dr. Shaw and Rose are in the back of the team, with the FRED, until the all clear is given for them to go through.

"This is a hot ops gentlemen." I stated, "Lock and load. Do not fire unless fired upon. Remember we have civilians this trip. Questions?"

On the other side of the Stargate - Bubastis

Twelve jaffa warriors stood ready, to escort the expected guests to Bast, in here palace nearby.

"Remember our Queen's instructions" said the leader of the group, his voice echoing out from his cat-shaped helm, "they are not to be harmed, unless we are forced to defend ourselves".

There was a grinding sound, and the gate began to revolve, the first chevron locking into place...

OOC: Okay Dirk, ready to run some escort duty for Bast?

Ka'uwal

IC:
I stand there awaiting the gate to finish clicking in. "remember, nobody harm them, if i see one fire unless they provok, i will deal with you myself."

OOC: oooh yeah i have been waiten!

OOC: Shall we go then? Galgkayo?

IC: 2159 hours.

"Good luck SG-6." General Hammond said from his command chair. His finger presumably on the button that would blow us all to hell and gone should something go wrong.

"Thank you sir." I replied, for the rest. "Stay frosty marines."

The humming of the stargate intensified, the chevrons dialed, the iris beginning to open. Around us the rest of the SGC marine complement was prepared to open fire should something decide to come through as we departed.

"On my mark." I stated firmly. The iris opened fully. "Move out." I ordered, and we were going through. The other side was peaceful, calm, a lovely day for a hostage negotiation. "Cleared." I said. Behind me, commo radioed through to send the civilians and the FRED.

We had a welcome wagon, equally as armed as we were, looking a little less than hostile. "I am Captain Taggart of Star Gate Command. Who are you?"

Ka'uwal

they flew through the portal and stood infront of us.

"i am captin Taggart of star gate command. who are you?

"I am Ka'uwal commander of the jaffa warriors, air, land, sea, and space attack and defense. Please follow me."

Little did they know i wished to join them in their fight against them, my gaul was fighting to not shoot everyone in sight, but i knew i had to hold out and help them as much as possible till i could revile me true intentions.

My eyes latched onto Gunny's then flicked toward the civilians. He understood the unspoken order, acknowledging with a quick nod. "Flank."

"Dr. Shaw, Miss Thorn?" I asked softly. "If you would walk with me."

The moved up, withing the protective well of marines. We followed this guide of ours toward whatever fate had in store for us.

Rose / Brier

Brier was homesick. It was the best way to describe the longing feeling Rose got from him.

*Only a bit...* Brier assured her. *I miss those I knew...*

*I know...I'm sorry....*

Brier acknowleged her thoughts mentally and they both took things in. He had known Bastet. Rose almost stopped at the memories Brier suddenly sent her.

*You and her were....?*

*Yes...We were lovers...*

Rose walked the rest of the way in a daze, somewhere between worried and...well aroused.

Ka'uwal

I lead them down the hall, i sinced one was one of us, only free, and able to control her own thoughts along with the gaoul, like i am now, i tought myself how, and tought him how to, i looked back at them, and thought this would be a war that i would like to fight on the side i know is right, and that was them, i slowly lead them in to meet the queen. Hoping what i thought would happen...wouldn't.

Dr Shaw

We followed the Jaffa with caution, yet at present at least they seemed non-hostile. Eventually, we left the woods where the Stargate had emerged to see a glorious structure, an Egyptian-style palace, at the front of which two huge cat statues sat. I'd seen archaelogical digs, and artists impressions of what such buildings might have looked like in real life, but this was incredible.

We were led inside to a great throneroom, where, sat on a golden throne, the armrests shaped into lounging cats, was our goa'uld host, no doubt, Bastet.

"Welcome to Bubastis" she said, her voice echoing about the chamber.

"Kneel before the Queen" said one of the Jaffa. As this was a mission of diplomacy, at least at the moment, we complied - though the marines were hesitant.

"We come in peace, in hopes of arranging the release of our people... we do not seek a war, with your highness" I said.

"Nor should you, human" she replied, "but your people are safe, unharmed, guests in the palace - I demand little for their release. Firstly, that you do not come to Bubastis or any of the other worlds under my rule - if you do, then you will turn back. I treat the people under my care well, and they would prefer my benign rule to many of the crueler system lords on my borders. I offer you a cease-fire treaty, I believe you call it. Peace between us, unless one of us begins hostility. I will not interfere in your affairs... if you do not interfere in mine. I assure you, you would be well advised to take the offer as it stands. Your people are free to return with you".

I translated this to Captain Taggert and the other marines.

"Can we trust her?" murmured Captain Taggert.

"I don't know" I replied, softly, "but can we afford to start another war so quickly with another system lord if they offer peace?"

"Bastet can be devious" whispered Rose, or rather Brier, "she may intend trickery. When I met her, she wasn't that agreeable to the Tok'ra philosophy, though she was quite a benign system lord, as they go. In your present, however, she may well have changed - I cannot say with any certainty".

"You may leave now, with your people, or enjoy my hospitality for a while" said Bastet, "though I hope you will do the latter before returning to your homeworld, humans. It has been a long time since I entertained such intriguing guests".

OOC: Oooooops RoseThorn... just checked the first page... sorry, Brier from the past... Captain Thorn travelled back in time, not forward... my mistake!
