A History Channel history nerd, or an Oh My God I Just Found the Best Book history nerd?

Franky, I waffle between the two, usually something seen on the HC will lead me off to read a book. And that will lead to another and then another.... Hmmm, today is a good day to read a book.

There's an historical book I've been thinking of reading, but I'm actually a bit afraid that it might be too depressing.... Has anyone read Shake Hands With The Devil: The Failure of Humanity in Rwanda by Romeo Dallaire? He was the UN military commander in Rwanda during all the slaughter, and I heard him interviewed on NPR. Ever since then I wanted to read his book, but was kind of scared to do so.

A book I actually read, which I can recommend, is Nine Parts of Desire: The Hidden World of Islamic Women by Geraldine Brooks. It isn't exactly history, but is a wonderful insight into a little explored aspect of islamic culture. Also, the author reveals that there's amazing diversity in the practice of islam, and that the roles women play are equally diverse.

My sisters wedding tapped me out till get paid lol. So will have to roll up sleeves myself. All I'd really ask for is a lovely lady to bring my a tall glass of sweet iced tea after. And as to hedge I won't go there either.
