If this reparations thing happens, maybe we can take it even further. Maybe I could collect reparations from the British, who treated my Irish forbears so shabbily. Or from the British again for the way they abused my remote ancestors who were serfs or bondsmen.

Eventually, maybe the descendants of Cro-Magnons will have to pay reparations to the descendants of Neanderthals.

This is true and common to many hostile American Indian tribes like the Blackfeet, Sioux, Commanche, Apache, Pawnee, and the Ute, to name a few.

The ancient Israelites had something called Jubilee, where all slaves and prisoners were freed and debts forgiven every seven times seven years. The thinking being that everything and everybody belongs to YHWH, and nothing can be leased for longer than fifty years.

This system only lasted for eight or nine hundred years, so there's no sense in going back to it.
