Stephen King: These Tweets Will Kill You!

No baggage? He isn't a Democrat and has no history of supporting Democratic candidates for anything. That matters to some worker Democrats who have to carry the on-the-ground burden of electing someone. He also is old, Jewish (but doesn't support Israel), a socialist, and has no record of accomplishments despite having been in Congress forever already. Name the last one with more than one of those bags to carry who won a presidential election. His campaign was 60 percent wishful thinking and 40 percent naivete. I do think his campaign was beneficial in that it moved some of the party positions to the left.

Those who wanted an Outsider in the White House that barely tipped the scales in Trump's favor would have been split between Sanders and Trump. Maybe not 50/50, but again ...... Trump barely won a few key states.

Bernie would have focused on issues rather than negative campaigning.
Let's just face reality. Hillary tried to skate by on attacking Trump and disconnected herself from the Undecided.

I faced reality a long time ago. Sanders had good issues. But Sanders wasn't/isn't presidential material and has a whole different set of negatives to Clinton that would have come out against Sanders. He's an old (as in close to doddering) socialist Jew (who doesn't support Israel) and who has done virtually nothing in Congress (thus having nothing to point to on capability of getting anything done when in a position to do so)--which would have been pointed out--and was stealing a party nomination from a party he wasn't part of and that wasn't supporting him (just like the Republican Party didn't support Trump).

The 50/50 thing isn't an argument. Clinton had Trump 48-46 and still lost. Sanders wasn't going to win the overly represented rural states any more than Clinton did.

I bagged it when I saw that the electorate was dumb enough to give Trump more than 20 percent of the vote and that, in mouthing that it wanted outsiders (which has some validity to it), reelected the same Congress that is the actual "insider" problem. Just a really, really dumb electorate--most of whom are in an economic bracket that's going to be devastated by the administration they voted in (which is the one amusing thing I take away from this, as I'll be advantaged by Trump's purported policy trends).

Trump's crew of plunder-monkeys has begun to look like the Polituro West.

If that was a typo and Mr King meant to say Politburo West then I have to agree with him and find it thoroughly alarming.

It is feeling more and more like Russia is taking of the government of the USA. Is no-one else seeing this? Is it just me and Mr King? This isn't funny anymore.

You should head over to the GB and check out all the pro-Russia threads.

If Trump approves, the sheep line up behind him.

G'day, Carnal_Flower, I can't take the GB. The headings alone just make my brain want to wither and die.

I know there are going to be a mountain of plants put in place to keep the population calm in the GB with lots of time-wasting silly talk. There is enough in this section but fortunately it is a low foot traffic area in the PB and I can manage to step over the bull-poo and generally work out to whom I should listen.

Once upon a time, children, the Republicans didn't like the Russians. Then a good elf named Putin came along, and all that changed.

Gather around children, Steve is going to tell us all a bedtime horror story. Sweet dreams!

Good elf Putin told Mr. Trump, I will help you win the election, but you will owe me. Mr. TRump said, Owe me or own me? Either okay with me!

According to the Asshat Elect, we need more nukes. The guy's probably right. We only have enough to destroy the world 120 times over.

Maybe it is a case, you can't be too thin, too rich or have too many nukes!

If I hear "Holly Jolly Christmas" or "The Little Drummer Boy" one more time, I'm going to lose my shit.

Oooo yeah!

No, that would be Hillary. Trump has never even held a civil service job. Business experience ain't qualifications.

LOL! Civil Service is a qualification.... good one!

Huge difference between a professional politician and a professional businessman... the former thinks of only themselves, and how to get reelected, the latter focuses on what the goals are and how to get things done.

...and how to swindle the last buck out of someone.

I also think a Civil Service qualification requires a certain standard of literacy. It appears Trump is illiterate.

Americans have been very bad this year, but instead of coal in our stockings, we're getting a big fat lump o' Trump.

You really have been brainwashed, haven't you?

I think that is the dumbest statement to the board this week (which is saying a lot).

One remarkable difference between Obama and Trump: the latter seems to have absolutely no sense of humor. The clearest sign of a dull mind.

Boston Globe describe's El Trumpo's cabinet as "a who's who of homophobia." Is he going to be president or America's Czar of Hate?

One guess folks! :)

While Mr. King may be an awesome writer, he's one of those celebrities that should stick to their day jobs. Just like the other whiney big names in Hollywood, their opinions don't matter.

They are almost all liberals that tweet to the delight of their echo chambers, and nobody outside of that little group gives a damn. I don't give a rat's ass what King thinks of politics, he's only good for putting out the types of books that made him famous. Besides King, I'm also not going to get on facebook and twitter to see what Liam Neelson thinks about gun control (after he makes movies that feature non-stop guns), but I will watch some of his movies. These people aren't rich and popular because of their blinding intellect, being a financial guru, or a top-tier chef - they provide entertainment. That doesn't mean they should be taken seriously when they talk about politics.

Besides, back to the original purpose of this thread was about how Stephen King is going tweet-happy about his hate of Trump. Why couldn't he keep his word a little bit longer? Apparently he's so triggered he can't STFU, so I think he should put that energy into writing a better book instead of spewing hate.

Of course their opinions matter. If millions of people who are never going to meet you are going to take an interest in your sex life, they will also take an interest in your politics.

So you no longer believe in Freedom Of Speech .

So you no longer believe in Freedom Of Speech .

That's a loaded question... The K.I.S.S. answer is yes, yes I do. I was assuming that you were familiar with the phrase "don't quit your day job" that's told to someone who does a poor job at a new task, or acts completely irrelevant. Sure, he can say whatever the hell he wants to, regardless of whether or not he offends anyone, as long as that exact same right is granted to anyone with a differing opinion. Just because he's a celebrity with a really big soapbox to stand on while he's blabbering doesn't mean that what he says is right. He's eloquent as hell when he does it, but it doesn't legitimize his ideas.

At least in the USA it's not currently illegal to say anything that offends someone else's fragile mindset. Luckily the internet is a huge cesspool of a "Free Speech Zone" as opposed to the government and liberal colleges who are working tirelessly to take away that freedom. Maybe this federal administration will lift the restrictions on constitutional rights. It doesn't hurt to hope.

Ringling Bros closing down, but will be replaced by the Pennywise Traveling Terror Tour. Bring the kids! Pennywise has balloons! Hooray!

Is he talking about DT? This is scarey when SK says such things!

The ugliest first week of a presidency in the history of the American republic.
