Stories not getting published.

if you know anybody who's found a permanent solution
I didn't know that "permanent" was what you meant. It really sounded like your attitude was "don't bother trying at all because nobody has ever overcome this."

I just want the OP to know I've seen many many reports of people breaking the permanently-pending logjam using the ways I described. I don't want people to be scared into not trying at all.

I have a ton of stories approved and a good following, but once I hit the purgatory bug, that was that. I’ve tried contacting @Manu and @Laurel but that has never worked. Once you’re bugged, that’s it for your account.

It’s sad and it’s probably about time to start looking at alternative sites I guess.

And many people who have gotten a second account thinking they solved the problem found out that the pending Purgatory bug is random and their second account was affected.

This bug has already been reported.

When the submission date on your story updates but the status never changes, it usually means the system has automatically re‑queued your story without actually moving it forward in the review pipeline.

The date refresh makes it look like something happened, but the story remains in the same stalled state, which is why it stays in pending purgatory instead of progressing to approval or rejection.

This behavior is a known issue in the site’s backend logic, not anything you did wrong, and it affects multiple authors in the same way.

Nothing you can do about it.
Thanks for your revert.
The main issue now is that a story gets rejected and is sent back in one account but the same story (word-to-word) with different character name & title is published from another account.
How can this happen? Both should have got rejected.
Unable to understand this?
I have tagged @Manu & @Laurel for this, but yet to receive any revert.

New to this. Submitted my first story - it was sent back for paragraph length reduction. Corrected and resubmitted with notes for the reviewer. Sat in “Pending” for a few days. Now it is still in “pending” but the label on the story says “published” with today’s date. Looks like some stories have published today - maybe it will be in another batch at some point? Or does this mean it’s in the dreaded purgatory?

Gotta say, as a new member and a busy person in general these hang ups are demotivating and spending much time troubleshooting doesn’t make sense if there’s other sites with reliable tools.

The account that accepts the story is not corrupt. The account that rejects the story is corrupt. By corrupt I mean the row (attached to your account) in the database (backend).

The story that doesn't have a corrupt row associated with the account gets accepted, while the same exact story with the account having a corrupt row is rejected.

Unfortunately, we users don't know how the row got corrupted in the first place. We don't have access to system logs. There is also a good chance the system logs are incorrect.

This bug is random. It doesn't matter if the stories are the same. The only constant I've noticed is that if the account has a corrupt row, all stories are rejected or remain in pending purgatory

This has been my experience as well as several others, so anyone reading this, your experience may be different

NVM - I now see the date shows it will be published tomorrow. Happy we didn’t get hung up with this on our first go!
