When I started this journey, I looked over the categories and just sort of ticked off genres or sex acts I'd never do.
One of the first on the nope list was non-con. It was also the first on that list that I wrote, despite the list. Then was anal.
As I've learned, sometimes the story-sets the rules and the list doesn't mean shit. If something fits the story and there isn't a meaningful reason not to include something, then you write it.

Now at the top of my nope list was mom-son incest. Due to issues from childhood, it's been something I couldn't see myself writing. I read it now and again, because those characters are someone else's, and I can enjoy it without thinking about my own life.

But today, I got an idea. And damn if it's not a fun idea. Looks like I might be checking something else off the nope list.

Anything with a woman in it.

I wrote only solo and gay male content for ~17 years. My first time writing any female stuff was last year and those pieces get a good reception on Lit.

I never thought I'd write 2P POV, or 1P present tense. I never thought I'd write a 750-worder, or D&D erotica.

Further back, I never thought I'd write a story and publish it for other people to read.

And nowadays I sometimes think I'll never manage to write another story.

Listen. There is a world where cryptic creatures live side by side with humans, coexisting mostly in peace.

But when the federal government suffers a hostile takeover by tech bros who want to privatize the social safety net by turning it all into cryptocurrency shitcoins, there's only one solution...

A ragtag gang needs to break into Fort Knox and destroy the DOGE server, using their wit, creativity, and powers of seduction. And one thing is for certain... By the end of the heist Bigfoot is going to have to fuck Elon Musk.

Well I haven't written in any categories that I never thought I would do. But I have gotten my SO to edit things that I never thought he would. He finds tentacle monsters horrifying and not at all sexy and isn't at all into other men. And yet when I offered to find another editor for my stories that had those things in them he waved it off and offered to edit them anyways.

I think one of the highest accomplishments you can achieve in erotica is to get someone to say "This is not my yum at all, but after reading your story I get it!"

I don't have a Nope List, but I can understand how some people do. For me, there is only the "sounds boring" list. But I am trying to find ways to make them each interesting to me and give them a shot.

I never thought I'd do a 3rd person story as I'm more comfortable in doing 1st person, but I wanted the challenge and finally did it.

I definitely never thought I'd do a 750 word story because I feel I can get too wordy at times. Then one came to me and it just flowed. Plus I actually got 748 words in the first draft. I was pleasantly surprised at that, but even more so in terms of how it's been received.
