I still can't get over that vore scene where a dude gets swallowed up by a giant fish.

I can't think of a story where the gag reflex was so pivotal to the plot. Usually that gets ignored, or overcome with practice. Here, it's a load-bearing element.

Wait until you reach the part where a dude just straight up gets the deus ex machina smite because he kept wanking instead of impregnating his girlfriend. A few parts later, and it's a string of horrific tortures happening to all the brothers in a single family right in front of their own mother because the First Amendment hasn't been invented yet.

The author was definitely going through some stuff. I hope they're okay now.

I don't think it was an accident. There was this whole chapter about angels having sex with women and giving birth to a new race of men that was cut by the editors because it was filled with shoeleather worldbuilding, yet it is considered canon. Some editions actually have that chapter.
