stranded (closed for asetikish)

"I could kiss you!"

Jesse couldn't help but pause, blushing as he inspected her catch. For a moment, she couldn't say anything, so she shook the thoughts away.

"It was a fluke..." she said sheepishly, hoping that he could attribute the redness of her face to her exposure to the sun.

He looked at her 'no it wasn't' and leaned in close, kissing her cheek gently. 'thank you' he smiled. 'can we eat now? He held out a hand

The kiss was affectionate, friendly, thanking but he felt more. A spark, a connection. Maybe it was because they were stranded, maybe not. He hid his blush

Jesse's eyes widened at the kiss, but tried to beat down a growing warmth inside her. No. After the island, they were never going to cross paths again. She couldn't let herself give in to infatuation. She never had and she never will.

"Sure," she took his hand and leaned on him again as they went back. "I just hope I got more."

Mason walked back to his sled and dragged it to the camp. He took some time setting the seats and stoking the fire, ready for cooking the fish. All the while watching her, feeling both protective and attracted to her now.

Jesse concentrated on gutting and scaling the fish, using a broken off branch to skewer it with. She used other twigs as support and hung it on the fire to cook it.

Her glance strayed to Mason and saw him looking at her. She touched her face. "Um, is there anything on my face?"

'no', he smiled, 'but you may have caught the sun a little' he waved her to the seats, set to look out of the camp at the water with the fire between them. Mason opened the final coconut, Drink, I'll get more once we've eaten' he hung his shirt by the hammocks and sat in one of the chairs

"Good thing I'm Latina. I won't burn like you Americans." Jesse crawled her way to the seat and took the coconut from him. "Thank you.

"Be careful of the, sun, okay? I don't think we have any medicine for sunburn. At least none I found in the first aid kit." She didn't know where to look as he took his shirt completely off, so she concentrated on drinking the coconut.

He sat, taking the fish and cooking it slowly. Knowing it should be properly cooked, they didn't need a poisoning incident. 'i found purification tablets in the plane too' he smiled. All we need now is the source. '

He watched her, unable to keep his eyes away

"Really? That's great! I'm sure there's going to be a source of water in the island, or else the vegetation won't be thick." She drank the last of her coco water and noticed him looking at her.

"Um, yes?"

"Um, yes?"

He realised he was looking at her 'sorry, its just....' Now he felt so bad. He had been staring wondering if she thought he was a person she could meet outside. 'I just, well I was just wishing things were different. No plane crash maybe, but then we wouldn't have spoken and....' Now he flushed red

"Yeah," she said sadly. "I don't think we'd even notice each other. I wouldn't even give you the time of day. So, probably, this is a great way to get to know each other." She paused trying her best not to seem too forward. "Maybe we can stay friends after? I'd really like it if we stayed that way." Although she kind of wanted a bit more, she wasn't appealing to men. If she was, she would have had at least one boyfriend in her life.

Hoe eyes lit, but hw tried not to show ' yes, I'd like that' he wanted more, she intrigued him but seemed unapproachable, like there was a barrier. He passed the fish, now slightly charred, 'better that than raw and dangerous' he laughed.

Jesse cringed forgetting the fish. "Oh man...I could've done with sushi." She laughed. Part of her was so happy that he accepted her offer of friendship, but part of her was really disappointed he really wanted nothing more. But then again she wasn't surprised. No one wanted her romantically.

He laughed with her, leaning close and touching shoulders 'maybe that's a date' he smiled.

He felt it then, the touch, the thing he needed from her. Unable to stop he reached for her hand and held it gently 'you ok?'

At first, Jesse laughed at his suggestion of the date, but as soon as he touched her hand, she sucked in her breath, so surprised. But she didn't take her hand away. Her face flared, certain that she had no other excuse for her red face.

"I-I'm fine..."

He looked in her eyes, the urge to kiss her again was intense, at this time it was not an innocent urge, he wanted her.

Mason leaned in closer, ready to back off if she reacted badly

Jesse blinked, her heart racing the closer he approached. What was he going to do? Her mind stopped too frantic to function, and her body froze liking the proximity.

"A-aren't you hungry?" She stuttered, her mouth just running away without thinking, her base instincts kicking in.

He stopped, maybe she didn't feel like he did. 'umm its ok, you eat first'

Inside he cursed his stupidity, but he realised he hadn't let go of her hand

Jesse felt dejected. What was she expecting? A tomboy like her wasn't going to attract someone like him. She nodded, but realized his hand was still on hers. She didn't move it. Didn't want to lose the connection they had, but how on earth could she eat with only one hand?

She battled with herself for a while, deciding on an excuse. "It's still too hot..."

He smiled 'sorry, I...' He did it, he leaned in closer, kissing her lips tenderly. 'I understand if you...' He sat back, now embarrassed, expecting to be slapped, or worse....

Jesse's eyes widened more in surprise than anything. Was he really...? Just as she was really starting to feel his lips on hers, he broke off.

It wasn't her first kiss, but the brief feeling her surprise let her feel was nothing short of amazing. Nothing in it was awkward, neither did it leave a bad taste in her mouth.

"Y-you just kissed me...why?" Her heart raced wanting more, but not wanting to just act on lust.

'I .....I feel' he stammered, Sorry, its just, I like you. I feel like we've got something....' He blushed,

She couldn't find the words, not knowing what to say anyway. But she felt it too. She only wanted to know if it was really there...

She closed the distance and kissed him in response, feeling the warmth of his lips before moving away shyly, looking down at their hands touching.

He smiled, she felt it too.

He kissed her back, when they parted he held her hand still. 'its ok' he whispered. 'i feel it'

His pulse raced, the spark was real, he had to stay calm. Their situation was paramount, and survival was the key. This just made things more critics to survive and get away from the island

"I feel it too..." Jesse felt her heart swell, and against her better judgment, she leaned against him. The only thing she was afraid of was him leaving her once they were fished out of their little island.

"Don't you have anyone back home? Like, a girlfriend? It's just that, it doesn't look like a guy like you can be single."
