Submission to posting wait length?

Hi all,

First time posting on here so I hope I'm doing it correctly. I have a query about the length of time between submitting a story to it being published.

My first series published fine (normally about 3-4 days wait time), but my most recent submission is approaching two weeks and it's still showing as 'pending'. FYI it's a romance without any taboo or risky topics included.

I've checked and read all the FAQ's and sent an email to the people at lit but haven't heard anything back. Is this just something that happens or has something gone wrong? I am reluctant to resubmit in case it resets the wait time but the long wait time with no reason is incredibly frustrating.

Thank you for any help!

Kind Regards,

JJJ

Don't touch it. If you do, you go to the back of the queue. Two weeks is getting on, so I'd suggest you PM Laurel, and ask politely if it's fallen through the cracks. You won't get a reply, but your story status might change to New. Or, you'll a rejection notice, in which case, address the issue and resubmit.

It happens. As of now, I have a 2 chapter story that has been in the pending area for 11 days, and I have no idea what is the cause of the delay.
However, 5 stories I've submitted since that time were published within 48 hours...
My recommendation is to write A POLITE thread to Laurel to check on your story. You won't get an answer, but she is very good at looking into issues like yours.
Good luck.

Thank you for the helpful reply! I have messaged her, so fingers crossed it might help to push things along! Best wishes :)

Whom to contact for story submission issue., been facing approval pending for more than 30 days, I had resubmitted as well ?

Hey both, I believe that the summer period is busy for literotica with submissions and people being away on holiday. The only bit of advice I can give (as frustrating as it is) is to give it time. Don't resubmit as I think it goes to the back of the queue.

Mine took over two weeks but then a more recent one was only a few days.

I know it's frustrating, but unfortunately there isn't really much you can do but wait!

Sorry I couldn't be of any more help than that!

Don't resubmit unless you've received a rejection and addressed the issue. PM Laurel and politely explain the situation then ask for help.
There are lots of things that can impact wait time. As previously mentioned, wait time can be impacted by the number of submissions, and holidays/vacations. Other things can also impact wait time including contests and challenges. There was one just completed and another is just starting. Those stories take priority because they all have to be posted at once. New authors also get greater scrutiny.

The authors who posted before me were right. The important things to remember are as follows:
1. Do NOT resubmit unless you got a rejection.
2. If the story sits more than 2 weeks in the pending area, ask Laurel POLITELY to check up on it. The likelihood of getting an answer is slim, but she is excellent at finding out if the reason is legit.
3. There are many reasons that can cause a delay. We may understand it when open competitions happen. However, we, authors, do not know when the site has technical problems, when reviewers are sick or on vacation, or when the site is swamped with too many stories they have to go through.
4. From my experience after publishing more than 250 stories, being patient and polite will give you the best result/success.
Good luck.

All great advice offered here.

I've had things publish 36 hours after submitting them, and other things take ten days. There isn't a rhyme or reason that I can see on my end, so I'm sure it has to do with the behind the scenes workload. Patience is your friend.

Glad I found this thread, I had a story pending for 10 days before I messaged Laurel and decided to resubmit just to see if it fell through the cracks. That was over two weeks ago and its still pending. Seeing all these comments gives me some relief that I am not the only one this is happening to, seems like there is probably just a delay due to influx of stories or something!

Yup seems to be some sort of delay. Too many of us letting our creative urges get the better of us at once, or too many have been having a good time recently and want to share:)

Yes. Patience is the key. As long as you didn't get a rejection notice, wait.
Sometimes it takes longer than usual, but in my experience, waiting will shorten the time to acceptance vs resubmitting the story.

My problem is if it is left too long i reread the draft in Word and make small edits and have to resubmit. šŸ˜€ OK i will resist that temptation.

Yes, as you said - Resist the temptation until you get an answer. ;):).
