Kassiana,

Two tips:

1. Add a link to your stories in your signature line. Go to Control Panel, edit Profile, and add this:

>url=http://english.literotica.com/stories/memberpage.php?uid=238484&page=submissions]Kassiana's Stories[/url<

You have to replace the arrow marks >< with opening and closing square brackets >=[, <=]. If I didn't include them all you would see is 'Kassiana's Stories'.

Og

Okay, another silly question. Where do you find your uid #?

Just checking to see if this works. For a moment, I had a link to Kass's stories in my sig. Talk about egg on my face. :)
Thanks for the assists.

Greetings,

About two-thirds of my stories have an "H". Unfortunately, that doesn't include my contest entry. So far, all my stories have been spared the unsightly blemish of an "E" or "W".

There have been some good suggestions in this thread. Other than careful editing, the two I agree with the most are to create interesting characters and know the category. (IMHO, an article on reader preferances in different categories would make a good "How To" article, maybe as a group effort by some AH folks.)

My only other advice is to read and heed the advice some of the best Lit writers have posted in the "How To" section. Here are three of the better ones:

How to Pull Up Your Story Score by MaxSebastian

How To Get People To Read Your Story by Whispersecret

Writing With Your Audience In Mind by Chicago Bob

Thank you, Rumple, for those links.

It seems we don't know and can't produce any real guidelines on why we get Hs on some and not on other stories.

I think a 'How To' on the categories would be very useful. It might take some discussion before we establish what is a valid definition for each category.

For example: Incest.

I think that to be successful with an Incest story the sex has to torrid, be between close relations, say brother/sister and mother/son, and the story must include some expressions of guilt 'We shouldn't be doing this'.

Anyone want to expand on Incest?

Idealize it. Don't try to treat it with serious consideration of the long term problems it can cause or mention that much of it is either rape or done under coercion. Keep in mind always you are writing a fantasy and if you jar the readers with what their fantasy usually means in real life they will be most displeased.

I have three incest stories and all have an H right now. The first one iivolves a young man and his sister and we team up on her for sex. This one is right at the level where a "4" will drop it from the hotlist and another "5" will put it back on. The other two are with the narrator and young women who are nieces by marriage, not blood relatives at all. These have ratings of 4.63 and 4.70 respectively, with over 100 votes. There is also an element of interracial in these because the two women are Philippinas. All three stories can be considered successful but the most successful ones involve only a distant relationship.

I have 8 stories posted, 2 with H all have an average over 4.08.

My Erotic Horror story Justice has only 12 votes, all but 2 are 5's, it would be at or near the top of the EH list but each time Laurel removes the 1 it is replaced within a couple of hours.

My two highest average stories are the two I spent least time writing, both written and submitted in less than 2 hours. Shaving Rupert and Bonking for Britain both have vote/hit ratio's approaching 1%.

The figures below my sig line represent 'hits', 'votes' and 'feedback' across all 8 stories, 'hits' average 1500 per week. I've started monitoring this as I seem to lose or add votes for no apparent reason, for example, Banging for Britain lost a vote in the last 48 hours, it's outside of the competition period and outside of the monthly sweep for double voting.

As to why they are read or what I should do to improve my scores - no f***ing clue.

The story I am most pleased with is in my sig line, tantilising close to receiving an H.

Og,

Over on the SDC, 7inchPhildo once opined that the secret to incest was to drag-out starting the first sexual encounter. His theory was that, unlike many Lit categories (EC, Loving Wives, Group, etc), beginning with a "bang" (so to speak) was not a proven path to incest "H-dom". According to him (and I agree) what turns on most incest readers is the build-up in tension, the fear of rejection and being caught, the guilt-trip, etc..

Once that forbidden, taboo barrier is overcome, the sex in incest is essentially the same as that in most "conventional" category. The only other categories I can think of where the build-up seems as important as the sex, is Lesbian and possibly Romance.

I agree with your suggestion that, as a rule, the closer the relation, the higher the vote. I also agree with Colly's thought that it's important to fantasize the experience. However, IMHO, that also applies to just about every other Lit category.

Story line.......

Hiya Og:

24 of 25 story's have the H's.

Several categories. I just posted two in the past week. Followed along the lines of mother/son/sister incest.

Dialogue, situations, but no real concern for whether it was wrong or not. Just sexual situations that bloomed.

One feedback asked if the story was real. Thanks! Another trashed the situation, dialogue, but confessed that it was her best orgasm ever. So go figure.

I even posed the thought of changing the relationship to the young man, making it his college girlfriend, and happen to snare her roommate into the threesome. Same sex, but different relationships. Think anyone would notice?

I think, without basis I might add, that the concept of doing one's mom or sister or brother or father adds to the excitement. Haven't we all wanted to see a sibling naked, or have heard mom/dad banging away, wondering about the situation. Seems this category is extremely popular. I get substantial reads immediately, in excess of a hundred votes in a day or three, and plenty of comments.

So, After 25-stories, plenty of responses, etc., I still do not really know how, why some get higher ratings than others, but do know the category makes a huge difference in the amount of reads, votes, etc. I also believe that the reader can be harsher in some categorical stories in relation to feedback.

Go figure.

I'm beginning to get that. Oh what am I saying , I've been trying to figure it out for years now. I've been complimented and criticized for the exact same things (i.e. story length, use of dialogue, etc.). So I write stories that I like and make me happy, and I think that, in general, the reader picks up on that.

Basically, that's what you have to do. I believe that everybody here writes for themselves, and likes votes and comments to see if others are enjoying it. It's nice if they are but the main thing is to have fun writing.:)

I see you have 100 posts now. Are you going to put up an AV?
