Suggestion Thread

Couple of quick points kiddos:

1. Know what? Eve has told me that I'm not one of her bosom buddies too. Know what? I'm WAY okay with that cuz you know what? She is right. I'm an acquaintance whom she has known for a few short months. Now in hindsight I have told myself: Well no shit what did I expect. That makes perfect sense. I also appreciate her for being honest, as opposed to other people who would have told me the BS that I wanted to hear instead of the truth.

2. What EVERYBODY seems to keep forgetting is that this ain't no democracy. This is the Queendom of Laurel. SHE makes the rules, the decisions and every freak'in thing else here. Instead of bitching about how fucked up her "Queendom" is, how about thanking her for it being here at all! I think we are DAMN lucky to HAVE a poetry forum. It sure as shit isn't generating any benefits for Laurel and if we aren't careful it is going to become more of an aggravation that it is worth.

3. What the fuck is with all the comments implying a "power trip?" No offense Ange and Eve, but if this is the extent of your "power" you are a sad couple of bitches. Big wow, they can delete one of my posts or move a thread. If it bugs me enough I can start a "fuck Ange and Eve" thread in the AH. I think ALL of this shit needs to be taken in perspective.

4. Finally, I'm a bitch. I KNOW I'm a bitch. In fact, quite often, I LIKE being a bitch. This makes me imminently qualified to tell other people that they are acting like a bunch of bitches and that they need to get a grip. Write some fucking poetry, chat, flirt, start a thread discussing what a cunt I am. I don't care (try to do it poetically though). Lets just move on. PLEASE?

Bijou you're right about one thing. We have a completely different take on all this. Nobody wants anyone to leave, but do what you think is best for you. The forum will go on, people will write poems and critique and otherwise discuss them and they'll hangout in the Hangout. If they have problems beyond what the mods can handle, Laurel will resolve it as she sees best. And I'm glad you wrote to her. I think you'll discover that she has no problems with the way the forum is run. And I know she does come here and read so nothing should be a big surprise to her. If she does want changes, we'll change. If she asks us to step down, of course we will and, frankly, focus on poetry like we've always wanted.

I'm sure you don't believe me and will say I'm disingenuous or whatever, but I hope you continue to write as well as you've shown you can here. You're a very talented poet.

I hate to pull a Jawa, but it's tack rather than tact. It's a sailing term, and in colloquial usage means to go in another direction or to try a different approach.

Tact for tack is one o' my pet peeves (good little peeve - here's a fresh canary).

Okay, I'm guilty for using the Hangout as a sort of sanctuary, but not for that reason. There was just too much abuse in the PDF by two repeat offenders. I don't view the PDF as a safe place to learn poetry. I wish it was. I wish I could feel free to participate in challenges and so forth.

Oh, and your suggestion of putting the one who bothers me most on ignore is not a viable option. Believe it or not, I value his informative posts and personally, I liked the interaction of the "Companion to the 30 in 30" thread when I was participating in that challenge. Not only would all the posts he made disappear, the good with the bad, but also all the threads that the individual started. But, since the downright abusive posts of his get ignored by the mods, the Hangout is just safer. If I started a poetry thread in the Hangout and it got moved to PDF, I'd delete all the posts I made and ignore the thread. And, if I'm not mistaken, I think you're saying that's okay. That's my prerogative, right? It's just a shame it has to be that way.

Yeah I understand where you're coming from. I've said I hope people don't use the forum as a sanctuary. I used "hope" because my perspective is that it is possible to ignore people who bug you. I understand and respect that you disagree, but I do hate that anyone feels they can't post somewhere here for whatever reason.

I have no power to ban anyone from the forum even if I want to (only Laurel can ban), and in the case of the one person you refer to my feelings are also mixed because I've learned a lot from him, too. (And anyone who thinks it has all been sweetness and light between us wasn't here a few years back--I had the biggest fight I've ever had with anyone online with him. Believe it or not he is a lot kinder now than he used to be. He has tried in his own way. I have the perspective to realize that about him. I'm not defending anything he says or trying to convince anyone to like him or not, just that I see a big change in him.)

So all I can say "I hope" sort of as a wish that people become comfortable everywhere. That's how I meant that. And I think Eve and I have said a number of times that we aren't moving any threads from the Hangout. But I might bug you in a nice way to try to get you to change your mind.

Honey, I have to tell you that may get my vote for post of the year! You made me laugh so hard I cried. Eve's right. You're bitchy but awfully funny.

I get a gift certificate once a year for moderating the forum. I'm very grateful and I adore Laurel, but I gotta say I think I earned that thing in about 15 minutes this year. And it's not even February.
