I need some help here.
Gil is dyslexic and also has somewhat poor eyesight so today's small mobile phones aren't much use.

He needs a biggish screen and decent sized keys. He doesn't need all the bells and whistles, just a simple phone to make calls and send text messages (which I do anyway).

I've been through eBay (Australia) and haven't found anything suitable and within our price range (under $100AU) yet.

You might contact Samsung to see if they have a phone like this in Oz.

That phone and service is marketed for older people here, BTW, so maybe you have something comparable there?

Also, I don't know if one of the orgs for the sight impaired might have ideas on phones (and perhaps a purchasing program to make suitable models less expensive), but that could be an avenue to explore.

This is the phone he had before:

Unfortunately it seemed to short out after less than 6 months. The reason I started this thread was I'd misplaced the receipt and was trying to find something similar, but remembered where I'd put it a few days ago (so-called "safe place" yeah right  )

So we took the phone back to the store but they didn't have any more in stock so we got our money back and we're waiting on them getting more in near the end of the month. So hopefully we will be back to normal soon :)

It has large buttons, simple menu, and memory keys so if he wants to call me all he has to do is press one button. The screen is good for someone with poor eyesight but he still needs me to read any SMS's that come in, and reply to them ;) It also has a torch and a simple slider on the side to lock the keypad (you can still answer incoming calls with it locked too).

This phone costs $92AU, hopefully the replacement will last longer than the original!
