Immunities
An Immunity is a tool you can use to clear a category. When used, it fills the category to the next cap, making it count as though you had written stories to reach that point. The caveat is that no points are awarded. However, you can take a category you don’t want to write stories in off the board entirely.

If I’ve written in a category (3 pts!) and then use an immunity to finish out the category do I lose the 3 points? Or do I just not get more points for the 2nd and 3rd space?

Additionally, for every 10 points you earn through writing, you will gain another Immunity.

Oh! I just saw this! That is going to end up with my having a lot of immunities!

As a follow up, does each chapter count in a novel(la) for the points system? I would think it would as it would be just like another story but in some ways it takes away the challenge of then novel(la) as you simply divide up a longer story into chapters.

Perhaps there could be a ten point bonus for anyone that writes a complete novella (based on word count) and twenty for a novel (based on word count) to simplify things IF all other available categories are completed. That is, if you haven't filled your punch card with all the categories, you cannot claim the novel(la) category. It would likely be a good way to separate out verbose competitors AND force people to write in categories they normally do not.


On a related note, I wonder how many people that enter this lose followers / readers that don't like specific categories once they write stories for them. For example, I have some anti anal readers that I suspect may not be overly happy that I have gone down the Hersey highway in writing for the Anal category. Personally, I don't really care and have suggested some commenters take a break from reading my works, but(t) it would be interesting to track.

I can’t believe I’ve been looking at the scorecard for nine months and didn’t notice that.

And based on other people’s score cards the were getting points for chapters.

Novella is only 15k words and I did that accidentally with Trading Cards, so I don’t think that is such a hard target to hit. Even though I personally struggled with writing something that long for the Novella Category.

I think the double points is a good enough bonus for the category.

Wait, you can loose followers? (Kidding, I know you can Unfollow.)

It might help if you put a disclaimer at start of your stories warning people that you are trying to stretch your … limits. Maybe not, but probably worth the effort.

You dont loose any points just clear the empty slots.

I did enter all six of my Erotic Couplings stories but only awarded points for the first three. I will learn how to get the other ping a DoD the tiers once stars are earned.

Any suggestions?

I went through and took out most of the dashes, spaces, and other extra characters. It was a bit time consuming but no issues now.

I had the same problem last year and ended up splitting the scorecard into parts. One part was all the categories and the other part was the scores and points for contests.

I delete the bonus categories, since I know I won’t be doing those.

You might also save characters by using the link function instead pasting webpages.

Forgive me, the link function? Versus the pasting webpage.

My apologies, when I was working I had IT on speed dial. Not super tech savvy can you explain the Link function?
