Sweet Things & Deviant Thoughts

Day 4 🇬🇧 (the England throwback diaries)

A day of Shakespeare, city exploring, and realizing just how BIG the London Underground is!

I think I slept in a little this day because the time difference finally caught up with me lol. But made it to see Macbeth at Shakespeare’s Globe and had the BEST time!!
Such a cool experience and definitely a highlight of the trip.

Spent some time wandering around the Shard and the London Bridge area, and I really think walking everywhere was one of my favourite parts of London.

I did enjoy taking the Tube too, but WOAH… is it ever busy and also complicated and slightly terrifying?? The escalators?? Why are they so deep?! 😭😂

Ended up making a spontaneous trip to Buckingham Palace that night since I hadn’t planned on going another day. A very full day of wandering, exploring, and soaking up all the London sights!

Also, still another gorgeous day in London lol ☀️

YES. My highly annotated copy of the complete works of Pablo Neruda gets read aloud sometimes. ☺️
I have a copy of his complete works too, but it’s been a long time since I’ve reread them. I’m going to have a bunch of free time soon, so I think I’ll be hoping my poetry shelves hard.
It can also be hugely hilarious.
My friends and I have gotten together and taken turns readings 50 Shades of Grey out loud.
Ok, laughing is the only response there. I read it and it was such painfully atrocious writing! 🙈

I like that it brought erotica and kinks into mainstream popularity. I just wish a better book had been the catalyst 😝

YES!!!

When I give a real hug or when I say I want to hug someone…

I mean that I want to be physically close to you because I see you, all of you, and I want to share this moment with you, whether it’s good or bad.

I appreciate who you are. You’re not alone in this moment. And there’s nothing more you need to do or be.

😍😍😍 yesss.
I’ve been a big fan of his work since I was a teen. Did an independent study on him at some point.
I think the fact that his poems are loved in English and how the translation is so tied to that. I think it’s soo interesting.

ITS SO BAD !!!
(the tampon scene…)

Oh my goodness yes.
I had to read it as I was a bookseller and they made us read a lot of the best sellers etc.

Ah I love this! It’s such a good feeling.

My wife's best friend (affectionately nicknamed "Drinkerbell") is on a flight to England now. She's moving there for work and now we won't see her again for a long time. It's doubly bitter, as I have a massive crush on her and now opportunities to look down her shirt or up her skirt will be few and far between. But now we're in the process of getting new passports so we can go visit her. Yay!

As far as Shakespeare goes, I got the opportunity to see Patrick Page (who originated Hades in "Hadestown") do a show on the evolution of evil in Shakespeare. He started with the more cartoonish villainy of Richard III, through the growingly complex antagonists of Shylock, Iago, and MacBeth, and to the redemptive arc of Prospero in "The Tempest." I've seen a lot of bad Shakespeare, but this was Shakespeare done right. Patrick Page is a gem of a person, even as he's so well suited to villainous roles.

When I was younger I got to live in Germany for a summer as an exchange student. At the time I thought it'd be the first trip of many to Europe. Sadly, life had other plans and so far I haven't been able to go back. Now it seems that if I ever want to ogle Drinkerbell's thighs again, I'll have to go to Europe. Okey-dokey.

I hope you do get to see her soon.
I hope so even more.

Aww! I get it. Now is the time. 😊
Loll the okey-dokey is great.
I’ve only been to Europe once. That trip I keep posting about… I hope to go back asap. I have a lot of family throughout as well and they keep bugging me to!
I hope so even more.
🤭
Soo cool! 😎
