As usual with Derpy, take it with a grain of salt. Somehow he made it through university, military service and law school before being identified with a "congenital birth defect" (spinal stenosis, which he insists on referring to as "synosis", formerly known as "creeping paralysis").

Side note: I'll be damned. Derpy's pearl clutching thread where he details his struggle with his chronic back pain has been poofed by management here...I've had it bookmarked for years)

Anyway Derpy has resigned himself to eventually getting into a wheelchair and never rising out of it again soon. He just turned 65 and somehow convinced the Veterans Administration that his congenital birth defect, which he's had his entire life, is a "service related injury" which qualifies him for a government wheelchair (yeah, I don't understand how the hell this is possible either).

Derpy says his life is a cautionary tale about the horrors of Obamacare. You see, he spent most of his life being classified as "uninsurable" (due to a "previously existing condition") and as a self employed "lawyer" could not find medical care at any price.

Obamacare came along and removed "previously existing conditions" denials from insurance companies' bag of excuses. At long last Derpy had medical coverage for both his severe autism (which he still refers to as by the old name "Asperbergers" and his defective spine.

But Obamacare failed Derpy because his peculiar spinal history necessitated a.....drum roll....second opinion. Derpy was unable to find a second doctor to corroborate his fanciful tale of the "birth defect" that did not manifest itself until he was in his mid fifties, and the window of opportunity to remediate his wonky degeneratingbackbone has now closed to due old age and a lifetime of spinal neglect.

Woe is Derpy.

He's been equal parts bitter and angry at the black man in the tan suit who "ruined" his life ever since.
