Tales from th lost city

“Ask you now?” He said raising an eyebrow and shaking his head “My mother would kill me!” He said biting his lip as her magical power rose to the surface “I have to ask you properly with a ring” He said smirking and leaning in to give her a kiss.

“And do some thing romantic” He said stepping back and watching her “even if it a bit of a moot point since you know I am going to ask and I know your answer” He said giving her a wink and walking back over to the bed.

“The nights still young however should we do some work? Or do some thing fun instead?” He asked flopping onto the bed and looking at her raising one eyebrow.

Laz rolled her eyes at that, but still she followed him to bed and climbed in. "I think we've had enough fun for the night," she said with a smirk as she settled down and turned off all the lights with a thought. "I just want to be held," she teased, grabbing his hand and pulling him against her back.

Just before she fell asleep, Laz made a pair of panties appear on her ass. A sure fire sign to Jackie that the shop was closed for the evening.

Lem barely slept she was so anxious. Because there were no windows in the suite, she spent the night pacing around the room watching the clock. It was 4:30 when she got dressed in a tank top that from the smell might have been Edward's and shorts. Her feet were bare as she crept out of the room and up to the kitchen to grab a bag. It was a possibility this would be her last meal so she savored it, leaning with her back against the counter.

By then it was five and she made her way up the stairs to bother the only one she trusted enough to help see her through this. She tapped lightly on Don's door and waited a few minutes before she tapped again. There was a groan behind the door and Lem rolled her eyes.

"Come on lazy bones I need your help with something," she whispered, not wanting to wake anyone else. "Please."

"I'll have you know there's nothing lazy about my bone," he said when he opened the door, shirtless in only his boxer briefs. He snorted at Lem's eyes lingering at his chest and he put his hand on her chin to raise her head. "Eyes front soldier," he said with a smirk and she swatted his hand away.

"Shut up and put on some pants. I need your help with something on the roof."

"Just pants huh?" he asked with a raised eyebrow, though he left her to grab a pair of sweats.

"Yes, yes that all very nice," she said with sucked teeth. "But unfortunately that pesk heart of yours beats too much for my taste."

"Sure that's the problem," was Don's snarky reply as he joined her in the hall and followed her up to the roof. "Umm it's the whole sunrise thing gonna be a problem for you."

"That's what I'm trying to test. Laz claims to have remedied that with some incantation and some elaborate wiggling of her fingers but I need to be sure..."

"So I'm supposed to pull you back before you turn to stone or ash or whatever," he said with his hand on the door, holding it shut until she answered. The nod she gave him was the most unsure he'd seen her and they'd been in a few shitty situation for him to find that endearing. And the fact that she'd chosen him to help her see this through wasn't lost on him. Don slung his arm around her neck and pushed the door open. Together they moved to the edge and sat. Don pulled out his pack of smokes, took one then offered the pack to Lem, not expecting her to take one. He snorted when she did and lit it for her.

They were quiet, both their eyes on the horizon. Her breath caught at their first sight of that fiery orb in the distance and he felt her grip the ledge. Fighting against her instincts to run. Don stood up behind her, just in case he had to grab her and make a break for it. But still she watched, perfectly still, the cigarette burning between her fingertips.

"This is it," he said quietly, feeling his own nerves at the situation.

Then it was morning and he watched the realization come over her as she basked in the sunshine, a small smile came to his lips. She held out her arms, disbelief plan on her face before she jumped up and squealed.

"It worked. I can't believe it worked," she screamed as she launched herself at him. Of course he caught her, gave her a little spin before he set her down. "It worked," she said again, with tears in her eye and Don did the gentlemanly and wiped them away.

"How long has it been," he asked as he rested his elbow on the top of her head, smiled when she didn't shy away from it.

"I've honestly lost count," she said, unable to keep the grin off her face. "And I hadn't realized how much I missed it until now. Thank you," she said as she turned to hug him and again Don was a gentleman, wrapped his long brawny arms high around her shoulders. He did plant a kiss on her forehead as he held her but there was nothing salacious about it.

"Thanks for letting me share this with you...and I'm sorry about..."

"Don't worry about it. If I survive his leaving this world you'll be the first I call," she said as she pulled away from him to head back inside.

"Yeah like you'd ever let him leave," Don said with a snort as he followed behind her.

"That's my point," she said with a wink and Don rolled his eyes.

Jackie awoke to the crashing of thunder

It was the late morning but the sky was black and rain was beating on the windows. He sighed curling up with her for a few more minutes before gently extracting himself. He got up and stretched pausing to kiss her cheek before he got up and pulled on a nightshirt and matching sweats. He quickly padded to the bathroom and took care of his business before going downstairs to see if any one else was up and possibly cook some breakfast.

“Surprised you two are up” Jackie aid spying Don and Lem in the kitchen and making his way towards it “where is your better half?” Jackie asked sitting down next to Lem “or are you to sneaking around?” He teased taking a sip of his water and checking his phone.

Tonight

The Docks

GENLEMAN DUEL

“Oh for fucks sake” Jackie said pinching the bridge of his nose “I cant believe this shit”

(Going to awake Edward next post)

"I don't really sleep," they both said in unison, then chuckled little. Until Jackie's next words. Lem knocked the water glass from his hand into his lap and narrowed her eyes at him.

"Mind your mouth Not Wizard when the Real Wizard isn't here to protect you..."

"Burn," Don said and offered his fist to her across the table. Lem looked at it a little perplexed a moment. "If we're gonna be buddies you've gotta get with the times old lady," he said, grabbing her hand to ball it into a fist before he bumped it against his. "Fist bump," he explained and Lem raised an eyebrow. Don shook his head at that before he lit up a smoke. "How long before he reanimates?"

Lem looked at him with furrowed brows before she realized his question was sincere. There was even a hint of concern in his tone and that loosened the corners of her mouth. "Maybe dusk...could be longer. It's different for all of us..."

“Oh for fucks sake...I cant believe this shit”

"What?" they said again in unison and shook their heads. Lem continued on her own with, "The teacher who talks too much..."

"Who throws her pussy around like it's gone out of style..."

"It better not be," came from everywhere all at once just before Laz appeared at the table next to Don who nearly fell out of his chair with shock from her sudden arrival. She laughed at that and ran her hand through her wild mane of hair before her eyes settled on Lem. "So it worked then?"

"It did," the daywalking vampire said, unable to contain her grin as she gave a nod of thanks to Laz. "You'll do the same for Edward?"

"Of course. Can't have one without the other, can we?" Lem only smiled wider at that and Laz giggled, leaned across the table to whisper. "Do I look like that?"

"Anytime someone says his name."

“It is not Elaine” Jackie said shaking his head and ignoring the glass of water in his lap “That little problem we were dealing with before the other shit is back” He said ignoring the rattle of thunder that went through the house. Instead he put his phone on the table and pushed it forward letting her and every one else get a look at it.

“Apparently your stalker has decided its time for our little gentleman duel” He said rolling his eyes before glancing at the others “Some one who we went to college with and had an obsession with Laz” He explained before frowning and looking around.

“Where is Nicky and Quinn?” Jackie asked looking around “did they like leave or go hook up or some thing?”

"Knowing Nicky, she won't be awake til noon,"Don said, though Laz perked up at the question, immediately send her senses out to locate the girl. And when she did the smile that had been on her face slowly wasted away.

"She's not here," she said jumping up from the table, ignoring the text on Jackie's phone at the moment. There were more pressing issues at hand. She mumbled a curse under her breath as she brushed a hand over her head then down her body, wiping away Jackie's t-shirt and replacing it with her own tank top and skinny jeans. Before anybody could say anything, she touched Don and Jackie, changing their clothes as well. "As always you distract me," she said to Jackie.

"What the fuck is going on," Don shouted it, not even realizing the fitted v-neck on his torso, the cargo pants on his legs, and his boots on his feet as he pushed away from the table.

"She fine," Laz told him with a hand on his arm and she watched as relief washed over the big man. "Physically anyway. If he dies she won't ever be the same again. I have to go," she said, the last with a look at Jackie. "I don't know if I can make him were again but I can save his legs. I can't let him die," she said and Lem rolled her eyes.

"It pains me to say it but the rat is as much apart of this as any of us. Perhaps being shot will teach him some humility. I would hate for Alazne's hard work to go to waste," she said as she too got up from the table, still in her pajamas. "But I must remain with Edward..."

"I know," Laz said with a nod, already preparing to transport her and Don to the hospital. She looked at Jackie with a slight frown. "Are you coming?"

Jackie shook his head getting up and scoping his phone up “Quinn I to annoying to die on us now” Jackie said even though his eyes were tinged with concern “I would go but I am just going to distract you from performing your magic besides apparently I have a duel to get ready for” He said going over and giving her a brief but passionate kiss.

“Be safe babe and send Nicky and Quinn my love” He said feeling partly guilty. In all the rush of the battle Quinn must not have made it out which meant he had technically failed him. He made a note to go visit him in the hospital later watched them disappear.

“How would you and Edward like to join me for this little tet at tet?” He said pushing the phone over to her and sitting back down “I guess just for backup”

"Such powerful friends could never be relegated to the background," Lem said with a smirk. "We stand with you or not at all. Such an archaic practice the duel, and that means a lot coming from someone who is older that your great grandmother. But of course we will attend," she said finally as she turned to leave. "Find us when you are ready, I must attend my mate."

And after a half salute, Lem left him to do just that. She stripped down as soon as she came back into the room and slipped easily back into bed, wrapping herself around Edward's chilled body. Her ear to his chest, she listened to his shallow breathes a moment before she finally drifted off to sleep.

************************************************************

"Look up when your walking," Laz snapped at a nurse who barreled into them, her nose in a chart. No matter that it was her fault for putting them in the middle of the busy hallway. Don grabbed the woman and whispered an apology as he ushered her around them with a hand to her back.

"Excuse my friend," he said with a smile at the nurse who blushed under his attention. "She's just a little upset about our friend is all. Have a good day Miss."

Laz paid his glare no mind as she rushed into the room and immediately put her arm around Nicky's shoulders."What took you so long?" came to her mind as Nicky shied away from her touch without looking up, or taking her hand from Quinn's.

"I'm so sorry ki...Ghost," Don said, correcting himself without Nicky saying anything. But the girl didn't even notice. She didn't take her eyes off Quinn. "What happened?"

"I found him bleeding to death in the back of one of the transports...we didn't even look for him...we're supposed to be a team..." Nicky trained off into sobs and pressed her head to Quinn's hand. "You have to do something Laz...please...can you do something?"

"I'm sure as fuck gonna try," she said and turned to look at Don, a pained expression on her face. The curtains closed and the room fell silent as Laz worked her magic.

He slowly came back to life

It happened gradually a slow stirring of his soul before his body. He felt her settling onto him but he didn’t wake for another hour. During the time he drifted in his thoughts focusing on nothing and every thing.

His eyes snapped open but he didn’t move giving no real acknowledgment he actually awake. His chest rose up and down for a few minutes before he stopped shaking his head at the archaic movement.

He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her hair stroking her arms softly. He glanced over at the clock and sighed in relief realizing it was only a few hours he slept. He made a mental note to ask her if this would keep happening and settled in breathing her in and just laying there.

Lem smiled as she felt Edward stir beside her but she waited until he actually moved to say anything about it. "Well that wasn't nearly as long as I thought it would be," she said as she sat up a little, looking down at him propped up on her elbow. "But I'm glad you're awake. We have some issues to attend to," she said as she slipped out of bed to get him something to right his mind. The displaced air snapped behind her, the sound amplified by the storm outside, and she was back just as fast as she was gone.

She sat down on the bed across from him, cracked open his bag and gave it to him before she open her own. As he drank she filled him in on all that had transpired in his slumber. Quinn and Nicky's disappearance, Jackie's impending duel. She saved Laz's cure for their sun allergy for last.

"I'd forgotten how beautiful it was Edward. So warm. Bright. It actually hurt my eyes to look at it but couldn't bring myself to turn away. I dragged Don along just in case things didn't go the way the real wizard promised. When things settle down I would like nothing more to watch a sunrise with you my love," she said finally as she took a sip from her own bag.

“Why is it every time I go to sleep things go to wonky” He said shaking his head and draining his bag before reaching for another one. He drank this one more slowly trying to process what she was saying. He felt a bubble of a old human emotion called jealousy but then laughed shaking his head. They were bonded by blood and immortality he was no longer jealous of the human because he had no reason to.

He was hers and she was his as simple as that

“I suppose we should go and check on Quinn after this duel” Edward said rising and shaking his head giving a small snort “I look forward to seeing this though I have seen MCP footage of Jackie’s magical duel skills there supposedly legendary this human doesn’t have a chance”

He leaned giving her blood stained kiss and sliding his tongue in. His hands ran across her frame stroking and teasing before he hungrily pulled her towards him.

“I look forward to seeing the sun with you” He cooed into her mouth nipping it playfully.

"I would never tell him to his face but from what I've seen I'm unsure why he thinks he might need us. I think there is more afoot than what he's letting on. At any rate, I need to go back to your...our place to get my blades. I feel naked without them," she said as she settled into his lap, pulling his arms to wrap around her.

"As for Quinn, Laz is tending to him and Don to Nicky. I just hope she can right him. He may rub me wrong but it wouldn't be the same without him," she said unable to conceal her own concern.

“We can go se him after this dual business is over” Edward said regretfully extracting himself from him and sighing “your right not sure why Jackie is wanting us to go he is the best magical duelist and he has his gauntlet there must be more going on” He remarked getting dressed in the blink of an eye.

“Since its raining we can get Jackie to port us there” Edward said pulling on his leather jacket and kissing her lightly. He got up and bounded up the stairs appearing in the kitchen where Jackie was shuffling his deck.

“We need to go get our gear” Edward said “you sure you need us”

“Not sure” Jackie said getting up and activating his gauntlet “Intel suggest this guy is getting some back up from one of Laz’s kind and not a half breed”

“What?!” Edward snapped his eyes narrowing “why didn’t you say that? You cant take on that don’t go let Laz-“

“No” Jackie said shaking his head “this guy is obsessed with Laz look there is some thing I didn’t tell her” He hissed waiting for Lem to come up.

“When we were in our senior year his obsession with her grew dangerous” He explained “at the time Laz wasn’t as well endowed in her powers as she was well this guy started stalking her following her he got more moody and with drawn and his attacks on me got more and more violent well one day when Laz was on the other plane I came to our place and found it wrecked with some of her things taken and she is mine painted in red paint he was waiting for me and we got into a fight I won but he swore he would return with enough power to destroy me and bind her to him forever”

“The point is the guy is dangerous and Laz needs to be safe” Jackie said “This is my fight any ways”

"I'll definitely need my blades then," Lem said from behind them, fully dressed with her pulled into her battle bun. "What you're doing is admirable Jackie but honor means nothing if you're dead. You men and your duty I swear," she scoffed, shaking her head.

"We won't think less of you if you ask for help. But I would wager she would breathe life back into your lungs simply to kill you herself for being so proud. Let's go over this shall we? We have you, a human who fell into magic on a fluke. Now granted what you do with that wristband of yours is proficient but we all agree you're no magician. On the other we have an actual magician who has already proven to unstable at best. To make matter worse, you've stolen his girl and now he's taken up with one of the rogue floaters to add a few nails to your coffin," she said still shaking her head as she hopped up on the bar. The garrote came away from her wrist and began to swing it back and forth. It wasn't often that exhibited signs of doubt and she hoped it wasn't lost on them. But just in case they were too stubborn to catch her subtly she made her point more concrete.

"I have your back, have no doubt about that but I'm not sure what good I can do against such a force. My blades only cut on this plane, in this world," she said with her index finger pointed to the ground, her eyes on the cross that dangled from her fist. "There is only one bond stronger than the ones we choose and that is the one we are given. Perhaps it might be best to speak to your future father in law."

He was watching her garotte so much that he almost didn’t hear her words. They finally connected and he choked his eyes bulging as he glanced at her as if she was insane.

“Talk to her dad?” He asked repeating the words and shaking his head “I…. don’t know isn’t this kind of a prove your self thing? I mean wouldn’t her dad want me to handle it to show I could take care of her?”

He didn’t want to admit it but there was another reason a desire to prove his own capabilities in the magical world. To prove he wasn’t just some human who fell into magic like she said. Her words stung more than he cared to admit so much so that he looked down and shuffled his feet.

“Lem” Edward said shaking her head “What my dear mate is trying to say that even though you have considerable magical skill you are dealing with some one who can WARP reality and for some reason has decided to help some one trying to kill you I think it would be wise in this situation to ask for help from her dad without it looking like you are weak”

“I suppose” Jackie said sighing and pinching the bridge of his nose “well how about it? Are you willing to help” He asked looking straight sky ward.

Lem shrugged her shoulders at Edward's sugared explanation. Even when she was mortal she was not fond of mincing words, especially when it came to impending battle. According to her father this is why she was better suited as the roving menace to any opposing force.

"Is that not what I just said," she mumbled under her breath, though she was certain Edward heard her.

Then the air chilled so fast that she could see the plumes of Jackie's rapid breaths. Thunder cracked outside followed swiftly by a bolt of lightening that seemed to light up the room before everything went black. But it was only a moment and when the lights came back a robed figure stood before them.

"You needn't take offense to the truth she speaks mortal. Nor should you think less of yourself for seeking assistance. It is the way of man to collaborate," Third said as he pushed back his hood. He shuddered a moment and gone were the vibrant blue robes, replaced by a simple dark blue suit with a crisp white button down. Hair sprouted from his bald head the same sandy brown as his daughters, though cropped close on the sides with the length well coiffed on top. He ran his hand around his mouth and a well manicured goatee formed around his full lips. With a cool smirk on his face, Third moved to Lem, took her hand, and kissed her knuckles. "Elder," he said with a bow, bringing a slight blush to her cheeks. "A vision as always."

"Third," she said then shift her eyes to Edward. "You flatter me as usual."

"How long has it been...a decade, perhaps more?"

"Two at least," she said, finally pulling her hand from his and he chuckled.

"Worry not fledgling," he said to Edward without looking at him. "My attention to her remains unrequited. She has always been one of simple taste, unimpressed by my grasp of the intangibles," he said as he unbuttoned his jacket and reached into the breast pocket to produce her blades. Third offered them to her with a wink. Lem took them with a nod and strapped them to her waist. "See, nothing," he said shaking his head.

"I will help you mortal," he said, finally setting his eyes on Jackie, a small smile on his face. "Not only because my daughter has chosen to share her life with you, but because I believe she's made the right choice. Yes you were both foolish in you're youth but without such folly neither of you would have realized your full potential. I know of your intentions young man and I am not sure to call you brave or foolish. Either way, inside that box you keep of things you've shared in this life there is something I wish you give her, but only when the time is right. Will you do that for me young man," Third asked with a firm hand on Jackie's shoulder, his bright blue eyes hopeful as he looked at him.

“Uh wow” Jackie said his eyes widening at is girl friends fathers word “I mean great sir! I don’t know what to say really” He aid ignoring Edwards chuckling.

“Makes me glad we are both immoral and don’t have to meet each others parents” Edward said stepping towards Lm and taking her hand kissing her cheek before leaning against the counter and watching the exchange.

“I can take this idiot” Jackie said looking at her father ignoring the other stuff as he focused on the task at hand “It’s his backup that worries me you know this man if we combine all our strengths and skills we should be able to take them down hopefully”

“I agree” Edward said glancing over at Three “Sir I would be honored to fight with a creature of such power” He said smiling at Lem “and you one day need to tell me how you two met” He said genuinely curious and not jealous.

“Well its about time” Jackie said glancing over at three “shall we go…. Sir? The faster we finish this the faster your daughter is safe from this maniac”

"Alazne is always safe," Third said with a chuckle as he prepared the portal. "She has only scratched the surface of what she is capable of. Despite what my kind believe, humanity is not a weakness to be overcome. It is a strength to be harnessed."

"Says the timeless being who knows no bounds," Lem said under her breath and Third rolled his eyes. "Be not offended by my truths...is that not what you told Not Wizard," she said with a chuckle, as she laced her fingers with her mate's."

"You need to focus on the task in front of you," he said to Jackie. "Your need to protect her will be the death of you if you aren't careful. Keep your shoulders square and your eyes forward, be not distracted by things in your periphery."

"We'll take care of those," Lem said as she stepped forward and patted Jackie on the back. "So let's get on with it then."

With that Third stepped through the portal he created, followed by Lem who dragged Edward through behind her.

“I wouldnt be a very good boy friend if I didn’t want to protect her” He said following in. The rain crashed around them bouncing off the docks and causing the boats to rock and shake around them.

“Thanks for the magical cover” Jackie said noting Third and his energy ball “Well he said to be here but I don’t see him”

“so you couldn’t handle this on your own human”

The voice came out of nowhere a bolt of lightning cracked in front of them. A wizard stood in front of them young with the prototype gauntlet. He would have been handsome but his features were twisted with anger and a nasty sort of darkness. His robe flapped in the storm dangerously and the water seemed to become agitated in the process.

“Like you didn’t?” Jackie said coming forward his gauntlet activating “we both know about you little helper”

As if to answer there was a much large crack of thunder and Seven appeared wearing a silver an black snake sin suit.

Ah Three” He said regarding the man and snorting “looks like your finally bounding with your future son in law how about we make this a play date”

He waved his hand and suddenly Edward and Lem were gone (whether or not Three brings them back is up to you).

“You always did rely on magical help Jackie boy” Thorton said laughing “that’s why you don’t deserve her you don’t have any magical abilities! You are a joke!”

“Yeah yeah” Jackie said moving forward is gauntlet activating “how about you put your money where your mouth is”

With that he drew a card and activated it unleashing a storm of blades directly at him. Quick as a flash Seven disappeared reappearing at Three and engaging him in battle. Meanwhile Thorton activated his own card creating a solid wall of brick and stone before he pushed it at Jackie with his own magical powers.

“Shit” Jackie growled summoning a his rock armor and shoulder charging through it.

Lem felt a punch to her chest as the world swirled around her, then there was an awful force thrusting her sideways. She lost her grip on Edward but she felt him somehow. Still close. It was like being stuck in a tornado, her body battered this way and that. Then all of a sudden there was calm and she saw him, floating beside her, and she reached for him. Their fingers glanced against each other and then she was falling. Hard and fast.

Linoleum rushed up to greet her and her head bounced against it, knocking her senseless a moment. Her vision blurry, all she could make out were the sounds of shuffling feet. The sickeningly sweet smell of infection masked by the stringent aroma of disinfectant. There was only one place were those two things would collide and she groaned from her cracked pelvis.

"Wait, no let me lay here a minute," she mumbled, pushing away the hands that grasped her. Large, rough hands.

"Where the fuck did you two come from," Don said quietly, his hands on either side of her face. His thumbs stroked her jaw, almost like he was feeling for broken bones.

"Edward?"

"He's here," Nicky said from somewhere else. Lem tried to turn her head but pain shout through her body so sharp it made her scream. "What the fuck is going on?"

“Fuck fuck” Edward said groaning and getting unsteadily to his feet. His eyes flashed with pain and wariness s he raced over grabbing his mate and helping her up.

“Shit Don get Laz” He said kissing the top of her head “Its okay baby its okay hang on”

“We went with Jackie to that dual with Laz’s stalker her dads with him as well when we got their this so called Seven ported us out her dad must have redirected it to drop us off here to get back up” Edward explained carrying Lm bridal style to where Laz was.

“We need to get back” Edward said narrowing his eyes “those two are in deep shit”

Laz heard the commotion but didn't pull herself from the healing trance until she heard Jackie's name. When her vision cleared all she could feel was the throbbing in Lem's back and the panic of everyone around her. But even as she acknowledged the pain, it's intensity slowly ebbed until it was gone, yet Laz had done nothing to stop it.

"Did you forget who she is," Laz snapped, her eyes glowing in her head lighting up the room. "She fucking fine put her down..."

"Is it me or is her mouth not moving," Don whispered and Nicky put her finger to her lips. But she did nothing to reign in the rage that coursed through Alazne, even as it bled into her making her fists clench so tight her nails dug into her palms.

"...where are they?" She billowed so loud the walls cracked and dust rained down from the ceiling. By now, the tattoos on her body glowed and the heat she gave off made the room all but unbearable.

"The docks," Lem supplied as she slid out of Edward's arms. "She's right I'm fine," she told them all as her blades came away from their sheaths shooting sparks at her back.

That was all Laz needed, and like that they were gone. So too was the damage she caused.

Meanwhile on the docks...

Third watched as his daughter's suitor made use of his gauntlet against the boy powered by his greatest adversary. Well at least that is what Seven considered himself. To Third he was simply a nuisance, meddling in the lives of children for his own petty gains. It was a shame he choice the life of his daughter to make his stand and he would be in for a rude awakening when she arrived.

What he said to Jackie wasn't just idle talk. The species of man was plagued by untapped potential, their only true hindrance was lack of imagination. The things that his kind thumbed their noses at was the key to their strength. Emotional attachments and personal connections were the keys to their dominance but even they were too ignorant to realize such a thing.

That was the real reason why fraternizing was forbidden, to keep them from seeing the truth of who they could be. He guessed that, along with his abilities, his daughter had inherited his need to spurn authority and make her way.

Third did nothing to counter the blows Seven delivered, instead merely danced around them. He could feel her coming, the child he created for the woman he loved. The only woman he ever loved. And he would leave Seven's annihilation to her.

“You don’t deserve her!” Thorton said summoning energy balls and fire “Your nothing! Human!”

“And you’re a nerd” Jackie said dodging and weaving his gauntlet sparking with energy as he slid in another card. The waves around them bubbled and rose batting away the fire. It transformed before it reached Thorton ice forming before Thorton cracked that.

“And you lack imagination” Jackie said sliding another card in his body transforming into the pure energy monster he used in their first mission. He ignored the pain and rose up arching his hands and catching him in an energy cage.

“Now submit!” Jackie said his voice becoming louder and ethereal. He arched his fingers and Thorton screamed as Jackie began to drain his energy.

Meanwhile

“No no!” Seven hissed breaking free of Third and staring at Jackie “damn human this can not be allowed! My master insists upon on it!”

He summoned a bubble of energy pushing Three back temporarily and making use of his playing around. Sven shot up into the air electricity sparking from his hands as he shot straight at Jackie.

“Now stay down!” Jackie said stopping in front of Thorton “You were a loser now and a loser then and I don’t have shit to prove to you leave my girl alone”

Before he could power down Seven was slamming into him grappling before slamming his hands onto his head.

“Die!”

Seven began pouring energy into him causing Jackie to holler in pain. The two energy signatures crashed together creating a whirlwind of pure magical energy. Jackie felt himself slipping going down down down……

NO!

“What the” Seven said watching as Jackie began to grow with neon green energy. He was suddenly thrown back scattered like the wind as Jackie fell to the ground. He was a looming figure now clad in a black robe that hid all of his features. His hands were bone know clutching a massive scythe covered in markings.

“A parlor trick cant beat me foolish human” Seven said laughing

“You have been judged” Jackie said in a voice that echoed with ancient power “you work for the destroyer you have been judged as a traitor”

“And the punishment is death!”

Laz watched it all from above. The vision of Jackie morphing into the Pale Rider was unsettling but she understood the necessity even if her blood boiled at the fact that he thought to face this alone. But she would deal with that later, after they dealt with this.

The storm surged as she unleashed her full strength. A huge funnel of water rose up behind her as she hovered above the dock. She saw the boy and still she didn't remember him , but it was no matter, without a second thought she sent the funnel crashing down on him, obliterating the dock itself before she focused her attention on Seven.

"So is this who you've been hiding," she said to Jackie as she settled closer to the ground. Her feet didn't touch, instead hovered a few inches above what remained of the deck. "Maybe you could have let him out sooner?"

"It is not of his control child," Third said as he reigned in his own energy, wanting there to be no doubt what Alazne and the man she chose were capable of. Instead he placed himself between the standoff and menagerie of beings that huddled against the winds she brought. A proud smile came to his face as he watched her work through the instability brought on by her rage and channel to into her fists. "That's it," he whispered as he raised a barricade around her team.

Her eyes flashed at Seven and cool smirk came to her lips. "You think my Pop is obnoxious, wait to you get a load of me," she said before she slammed her fists together, sending a shock wave of amber light at the interdimensional being that threw him off the docks. But before he was gone from sight, Laz laced her fingers together, bringing her hands up to the heavens then slammed them down with such force that wood splintered beneath her fists.

"Again," she heard from inside her head and she glanced behind her to see Nicky, somehow outside of the bubble Third created to keep them safe. Laz wasted no time wondering how that could be and heeded the girls words, repeatedly slamming her fists down to the deteriorating dock at her feet. And so to, this Seven.

“You will not kill him that way” Jackie/ The Pal Rider said waving his hand and stopping her mid attack “Judgment must be wrought” He stated simply before disappearing.

He reappeared right next to Seven hefting him up with one hand “You shall be punished for your crimes for even you cannot escape the horse man” He stated summoning his scythe. He swung it ripping a hole in the air and creating a portal.

“I will return” He said his voice dripping with ancient power before turning to Edward “The barrier is about to be broken your spawn is coming prepare your self for the world is about to change one more time”

And with that he stepped through disappearing with Seven in a brief flash of light.

“What the hell was that?” Edward said tuning to Three “Whatever that thing was it wasn’t Jackie and where has he taken my crew”
