I guess I've laughed about it in the past, but it does make a lot of sense. Does anyone here practice it? Is it worth it? Does Sting really have eight hour Tantric Sex sessions (he must have a lot of free time).

I have in the past, you really need the right partner and the right focus, obviously.
It can be kind of addicting like extreme sex. It is very cool but you have to be fairly together to practice it.
Never done an 8hr stretch, I don't think, you do kind of lose track of time.
For me I guess, I learned how to go to that place within myself, and that is something that I still use, so yes it is worth it.
The transferable skills of tantra :D

Now, I'm curious. Where/how would a person start learning? I assume you would sign-up for a tantra yoga, class or seminar?

I'm assuming that this isn't learned from a book for the average person, whatever that is.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

ed

There is no easy answer. You need to really want it to happen and definitely have to have the right partner. I would recommend learning what you can about Kundalini, Chakras, mind/body dissociation, and self control in general.

Hi Noor! Long time no hear...;)

You are absloutely right in your post..

As to how, I have a few books, but books really do not do much. I took a weekend workshop a few years ago, and that was quite a memorable experience...wow

IMO if someone wants to learn tantric, workshops are the way to go.

I'd love to hear some more details from anyone that's actually been able to do it. how long it it take you to finally get there, was it worth the learning process, and yeah, maybe some recommendations on where to sign up.

Tantra is a very interesting practice.

Although I study a different variant, there are a lot of similarities. The idea is to 'cool' the fiery tendencies of the male whilst 'heating' the cooler yin aspect of the woman, so that the energies mesh and mold to raise the energy to a higher level.

I'd have to agree with a previous poster in that you have to truly want it to work. An open-minded partner is invaluable in helping you progress. I've practiced alone for a while, as well as with a couple partners. When I leave for California, I'll be training more extensively with someone I've met who has more to share. It is a mutual exchange.

One of the key points I've encountered in truly approaching the practice correctly is in being in the present moment. Very often, especially with males, there is a focus on the 'future' or outcome, which in most men is ejaculation. When you slow your mind down, along with your breathing, it allows you to truly take in the essence of that moment and enjoy what is currently happening. It's an attitude and approach you can translate into nearly any other activity. A particularly sensual one is eating.

I'm by no means a master, but if anyone has any questions, I should be around to answer what I know.

Eight hour tantrix sex sessions are a bourgeoise luxury. I recommend you be a "man of the people" and get it over with in eight minutes. Including foreplay.
