i have done it once. and i say once because it takes a tremendous amount of discipline. as a man, i would get to the edge of orgasm and stop. we did this for an hour, and when i did finally orgasm, it was the most incredible feeling i had ever had. and that is an understatement
The western outlook on Tantric sex tend to focus more on the sexual pleasure. Where as per Indian outlook (as defined in Hinduism and Buddhism), it is part of spiritual practice.
To simplify, when practicing tantric sex, partners be aware and conscious about their senses. Focus be more on subtle sensations. Here we are talking about all the senses not just body parts. Sight, sound, smell, touch and taste.
When considering process, it starts with body/body parts to senses and then even further depends on involvement and reliance on each other. So, partners get involved with body, mind and soul.
Technically, partners are dealing with the energies in their chakras. The whole tantric sex process guides the energy in Sacral chakra to the Crown chakra step by step. Though this process needs more practice, understanding and guidance along with reliance on each other. And it has its own significance related to union of partners energies. It might be humorous for many but both the partners are meditating while having sex in spirituality context, provided they have reached the stage where they can successfully transfer the energies in the Sacral chakra to the Crown chakra.
But, often marketed/promoted/talked about part is limited to sensations. Essence of it is to have better emotional connection between partners.
For sure, the core of Tantric sex has to be learned and understood first. It isn't for everybody. It is for those who enjoy celebrating their senses and at the same time provide same to their partner. Time and feel varies for everyone. But, it surely helps to have better connection on all levels.
