Houston is a shit hole but kemah boardwalk nice and the two blocks above a lot of bars and night clubs.
Galveston see Houston same thing pretty much but the have a new boardwalk.
San Antonio river walk but it's a tourist trap

Sundance Square in Ft. Worth is fun, yes. Then go a few miles down Main to Billy Bob's honky-tonk and eat at Cooper's Bar-b-q. Go around the corner to the Stockyards tourist area if you must - see a handful of longhorn steers sauntering down the street in a mini-'trail drive'. The Kimbell Museum and Bass Performance Hall are top-notch, with the National Cowgirl Museum a unique place nearby. Main Street Grapevine is just a bunch of touristy kitschy shops with a couple of decent restaurants. Check into Deep Ellum & Bishop Arts District in Dallas or the Galleria, and Reunion Tower for drinks to see the city at night. Lots of other stuff I don't know about yet.
In Houston, if you're driving, you'll pass through The Woodlands on your way in - plenty of great restaurants there. There may be a concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion/amphitheater. Market Street is fun - restaurants, shopping, outdoor concerts sometimes. More upscale nightlife and restaurants nearby on the Waterway. In Houston proper, there is, of course the Galleria, Montrose & The Heights areas, downtown, Minute Maid Ballpark, Chinatown, and so on. Too bad, you will have just missed the Houston Stock Show and Rodeo, one of the biggest and best there is. At Kemah, plant yourself on a patio on a sunny afternoon with an adult beverage and watch the boats go to & from Galveston Bay to Clear Lake. In Galveston, The Strand just off the harbor and near the cruise ship terminal (can you say "Triumph" ?) has shopping, restaurants and nightlife. On the beach side, Gaido's is a standard in nicer restaurants and Benno's on the Beach is casual & somewhat Cajun.
I leave San Antonio and Austin to my esteemed colleagues here! (just "Remember the Alamo"....see it! The Spanish Missions Trail, Brackenridge Park, the zoo, and the Botanical Gardens in SA are also lovely.)

Don't get me wrong Dallas has some good parts but it's not a easy city to park a car in it sucks
You want eat and drink Addison beltline road are go up the north Dallas toll road to shops at legacy in plano there all kinds shit there even have a swingers bar

Wow no wonder they say Texans are the friendliest americans, what more can I saw but thank you all for all the insights, have a lot of reading up to do before I touch down at DFW.

I certainly will remember the Alamo, it is one item on my bucket list I am ticking off this trip, I believe the Travis letter is now on display.

Wow no wonder they say Texans are the friendliest americans, what more can I saw but thank you all for all the insights, have a lot of reading up to do before I touch down at DFW.

Eeyore's Birthday is the 27th @ Pease Park (in Austin). This is one of those uniquely Austin events that's worth checking out.

Apart from arriving on the 20th at DFW and wanting to be in Austin for the following w/end (hoping to go to Dell Diamond for a baseball game) nothing cemented down, just have to be back at DFW on May 1st

DFW area entertainment depends on what you interest happen to be.....Most of the trendy clubs are in DTD....and Arlington....Go to North Dallas and ya get to put up with the North Dallas Beautiful People....

The only reason to venture out to Grapevine to fight the construction traffic is to get the the Gaylord, The Glass Cactus is a nice club with at times great private parties...They also have at times some fun bands, Saw the Molly Ringwalds there....

Think Jenny know her stuff about Funky Town...........Maybe the most fun i have ever had in Funky Town outside of boot skootin at BBT, was at Pete's Dueling Piano Bar usually just one big party there....

Not sure this would interest you but taking the tour of the Boss Hog Bowl is very interesting if you are into seeing some thing done to the highest excess by a billionaire...
