Well, I don't know, but you've got a good point there, that it really dosn't have a male equivelent.

Maybe that is a big part of the reason and the answer to your question.

Similarly, calling a guy a "bastard" doesn't have the same sting as calling a woman a "bitch". I've had a lot of women take me to task for affectionately using the word "bitch" in a story (yes, it's possible), but no one's ever objected to my using the word "bastard".

Even if applied to a male, it still isn't as derogatory as being apllied to a woman (aside from in sex of course). See, the problem is in the shape. We have lots of descriptions of things, but rarely things within things. That's why it's easier to make up new words for breasts, there's actually things out there that look like them ie melons, tomatoes, peaches, orbs, etc.

I don't think so. I'm not of the older generation (28 at present) and male but I think its an offensive word. In fact the phrase "silly cunt" is one of my favorite deragtory comments to make about women without a lick of sense in their heads. (I prefer fucktards for men with the same problem.)

Funny enough, I switch between "pussy" and "cunt" depending on what language I'm using. In Swedish, I always use the Swedish word for cunt, which is "fitta", and hardly ever the Swedish word for pussy, which is "mus".
In English, however, I almost always say "pussy" instead of "cunt".

I'd never ever use the word "mus", literally "mouse" translated, in Swedish. I don't even think of it as a word for vagina when I hear it. It seems desperately out of place in an erotic context.

I never have... and never will... use the word 'Pussy' It's fucking silly and very childish sounding, it's naughty kids in the playground language, not adult literature terminology.
