Catching up a bit while my washing machine is being reassembled. the leak is fixed this time. (please, please, please)

Meanwhile, it's 7 above with a 27 below wind chill... that's Fahrenheit. Think the snow may have stopped for a bit, too.

So grocery delivery was a bust. Got my stuff but cans dented... and she used paper bags filled them to the top and sent them right in the snow.....what do you think happened

What the actual ? That's just wrong on so many levels!!
Have you considered a career change from medical to food management? Thinking you could have that place turned around in no time!

It must be the day for it. I was checking out behind a guy with an EBT card and he had $20 too much stuff. Apparently, something was also non-food by EBT standards. Neither the cashier nor I knew enough to be sure. He started giving stuff back and this was running into some time waiting. They finally got him down to $6 over and he had no cash, so I just paid it for the privilege of getting him gone so I could check out. The 3 people behind me all checked out at the lane next to us. I would have moved but had already unloaded the cart, and besides, it was my cashier buddy.


That's the second time in the last 4-5 weeks that I've seen someone have no idea how much margin they have on their card and over-buy all to Hell. Last month's was $150 worth of stuff and she might have had $2 on the card. She walked.

Good on ya, regardless of the reason why... glad you were able to help them out.
Bad enough griping about how much more things cost now. It must be hell doing that and trying to budget on one of those card systems where someone else decides how much you get and what covered/not covered.

I graduated from a Catholic University. I had to take two semesters of religious study. The first was comparative world religions, the second comparative Christianity. I’m surprised I passed either. The problem is I was already fairly fluent in different practices and my ordained professor didn’t like a heathen like me questioning his world view point. I’m surprised that I actually got an “A” in both classes, probably because I stood up for my beliefs instead of the drones in the classes who only recited back what they wanted to hear.

Professor spent first class giving the semester overview (as they all do the first class), but they also made a point to express how much they valued independent thinking and very much did not want us to just spit out lecture notes on the exams.

First assignment - lots of independent thought and critical thinking, etc. and got a C.

Every other assignment and exam: Regurgitated nothing but lecture notes, his thoughts, his opinions, his choice in source material... got all As

I always figured it was part of the Cat Tax. I would put a clean towel over the top and leave them to it. Get it while it's warm - just like biscuits, right? Always better warm?

Man, I miss my horse every day.

I got my cats @25 years ago and adopted them out when my allergies became unmanageable 15 years ago. I will never not miss them. When I'm really lucky, they visit my dreams.

Ethyl is on the clean clothes.

Anyway, it was nice to meet her friends and celebrate my mom’s life.

Those ceremonies are for the living. Celebrate the one we lost and make stronger connections with those still present. Reminding us to show and speak our love, gratitude, etc. for those here with us while we can.

Yes. Older mom scolded me when I called it gravy. I think I was shamed into putting ground beef, ground turkey or sausage in it every time I really called it gravy.

It wasn’t easy, but ultimately I prevailed by showing all my quiz and test scores were A’s and my final papers met the scoring rubric for an A.

The hardest time I had was theories of criminal behavior. The instructor practiced family law and said she didn’t give A’s to Cops. When the final grades were posted on line I had A’s in all the quizzes, the mid term, the final and my paper and she still gave me (and a couple other cops) B+. I went to the chancellor and showed him my grades in line. He reached out to a couple of other students and ultimately our grades were changed to A’s and her contract was not renewed. I mean, your teaching a criminal justice class where 90% of the students are cops and you come out the first day of class and say you done give cops A’s then prepare for a fight.

Woot!! Was a of a job, but the washer passed the water test and first load is running fine so far!! Best way to start of the new year!!!

Bias is bias - good for you to challenge her position. You earned that A!

My CJ prof made the mistake of having an open book essay final.
After he scored my final and issued my grade, he asked to see the notes I used for my test.
He then asked for a copy of my notes specific to the book we read that semester. Said mine were far superior to his and would save him time updating his own notes.
If I had for every teacher who did that? I could retire today.
For readers, like me, that may be curious the book was Stateville: The Penitentiary in Mass Society by James B. Jacobs
