The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I’m the same. I’m pretty much a cynic, but I will say that I’ve had two dreams in the last week and a half since my mom passed away that she was in.
Take that as a good sign. I said I don’t put much faith in it, but that’s a little white lie. My wife has convinced me that these visitations come for a reason. I think it’s to comfort us here remaining. I look at it as you were very special to her. Keep dream’n brother!

Busy day... tile work started in the bathroom. Handyman took a couple breaks and helped me move the heavy desk and chaise lounge in my home office. Everything is re-connected and in working order. Definitely warmer at the desk now that it's away from the exterior wall.

Now? I'm ready for a hot shower and read until my hair dries. Sounds like a busy day for lots of us... a little catch up before I tuck into bed...

fixed ;)

@Missk_2022 gets all the credit for the Nickname - I just highlighted it. 😁

Same... still trying to decipher the intended message...
If it was "come sit by me" that's still 1 letter from potential disaster :ROFLMAO: Hint: rhymes w/ the unedited version

Who's driving the first leg?

If you miss it, we could refer to you as Virgin Monk
 Hmm, has a certain ring to it

Welcome. Hope you enjoy your time with us at the café. First post lays out the rules of conduct. Reading member profiles may help fill in a few details, too. Hope you like it here.

Personally, I feel it's my brain or subconscious either protecting me or doing a bit of self-care as I continue to work through a loss. Either way, I tend to enjoy when friends and relatives come a calling.

I've been hours behind all day... nice to see others stepping up. I'd have gladly offered to dry.

😍

😍

I've taken care of mine 🤗

 maybe a bit more than an hour so you have a buffer? Since the cycle looks to be 12 hours. Hope the meds do the trick and allow you both restful sleep again

Very glad you're feeling better. Glad you could take the extra day! That falls under Health Care, too.

A Visiting Kitty could be a great way to ease into pet ownership... lemonade out of lemons, right? 🤗 Sorry Señor Gato already has a family.

I love those visits. So far, none of those have been scary or creepy. They have been loving, fun, and bittersweet once I begin to awake.

Love what you've shown us so far!
I recall when my mom painted the bedroom furniture. She found some mis-matched pieces at a couple garage sales. Then painted them all the same color and hand-stenciled the same design on them so they looked like a set. Thank you for evoking that fond memory. 🫂

I'm so sorry!! Given the damage, I doubt that the driver could have missed the fact that they hit your garage. Sad they didn't step up and take ownership. Sounds like an expensive fix for someone else's "oops". ☹️

Hehe... you said 6-8" and blow and suck... hehe

Had a brother who loved doing that all winter long when he lived Out West.
He's back in the Midwest now... in a bit of a Storm Alley area. :ROFLMAO:

Be safe, @B2fromA2looking4U
Growing up, when we had weather like that, Dad said he was the only one allowed to leave the house. He knew we kids would have a day off school and want to go out and play. Mom wasn't a fan of being locked up with all us kids, but knew it was for the best, too.

Glad you managed to make some good sales today and got home safely again!!

Gorgeous photo!! Thank you for sharing

Since you have to take the door down anyway, have you considered painting the hardware? They make spray paint for metal surfaces now. Here's an article for ideas.

Hope you warmed up and get a good night's sleep

Kick back and enjoy - you earned it

What's your hourly rate? Handyman's doing a great job but it's very messy!! I feel like I'll be cleaning for days once the bathroom facelift is done.

Sleep well everyone... time for me to go clean up my act.

Was gonna head to Idaho Tuesday may be rethinking that it's minus 11 where I was going

Morning all. It’s warmer today, if you consider 4 to feel warmer than -1. If you’re in an area impacted by this artic cold be careful. I’ve got the day off today for the MLK JR. holiday so I don’t plan on going out if I don’t have to. Hope you all have a good day and be safe.

Morning all

Happy Monday, Muffin!!!

Out West, it's 7*F. Yeah. All the barn critters have these thick-n-furry fabulous winter coats. Telly the Big Horse (Calypso's buddy) was very chummy on my arrival. The preggers goat is so huge she's limping. Fed everybody. Of course, the apples I brought are freezing. I fed them anyway, cut into quarters, of course. Horses can swallow apples whole and choke, and that's no bueno. The dogs enjoy staying in. They go out at 10 and 2. The landlady is working today and all week. I have to go out later and break ice, too. Critters gotta drink.

Good morning.

Had my whole day planned until I realized it was a holiday and three of the things I wanted to do would be closed because of it.
Found out there is more mold in this house than anticipated. It makes me cough deep down in my lungs. Gonna have to start in the attic with a bleach mixture and a long handled brush and get rid of it soon before it starts to warm up. Not looking forward to it. Each room is going to have to be wiped down. Walls, ceilings and floors. Every piece of furniture will have to be cleaned. Nick nacks everywhere.
Just to give you an idea, there are 7 china hutches...all full. There are 4 dining room tables. 35 straight-backed chairs. This is not a huge house but it is packed...at its all got a thin layer of mold on it.

Don't get me started on the garage, basement and the barn. Good thing is, those don't affect me directly and will be delt with over the summer months with a pick truck, trailer, and trips to the landfill.

Good morning Wonderer and NC. The temp is 0, wind chill - 12. It looks like I have taxi duty so I am packing blankets in the car. Fortunately, my taxi is new and in the garage. It should start.

I had 7 hours of sleep. The dog is doing better.

Be safe today.
Glad your dog is doing better today. Glad you got good sleep.

Be careful out there in grandpas taxi.

Stay warm today all. Beyond cold it's that dangerous cold now
I plan to stay in all day. Taking some recycling to the garage is as close to outdoors as I'd like today. 🥶

Emergency car kit if you travel in this weather. Mother Nature takes no prisoners this time of year

Brr.... i haven't ventured out real feel is negative a billion..... it makes me cold to look outside.
Awww telly... good boy... he was happy to see his friend.
Poor goat.... when is she due. It would suck to deliver in this weather.
Yeah choke and get choke... it is scary to see food coming out their nose..... then comes the lavage to get it down the pipe and passed into the stomach.....
Sven lives the snow and he lays under the catalog tree in "his spot" he blends in and you don't know he is there until he moves. But I think this is even too cold for him
Yep critters have to drink.... do they get grain in the winter or? Hard work for animals to stay warm. Need extra calories is what I have been told.....
Glad you made it there safely
Is kitten still making awful noises...how is fred?

They get grain all year - oats. It gets doubled when the temps drop, and it gets supplemented with hay, too. And they have their mineral block.

Kitten is quieter. She acts terrible with the tri-colored little cat here. That's Wilma, and she's as curious as any cat I have known.

Not sure when the goat - Violet - is due, but she's confined to a stall and has her very own heat lamp. She seems okay. She should pop any minute, I guess.

Fred is good. TDK and I always upset her apple cart. I was sitting on the sofa last night, Landlady at one end, me at the other, and Daisy in the middle with her head on my leg. Fred decided that she didn't like the arrangement and it was my fault, so she took it out on Daisy - who didn't budge. She's been kinda grumpy, too. We'll see how this goes. She'll be back to normal come Friday.

I am glad the little goat girl is safe and warm.... baby goats are so stinking cute

Fred was over the bs... she the queen there?

Who would win a fight ethyl or Fred?

Thanks. The taxi started and drove fine. We ran into snow squalls that limited our visibility but I successfully delivered grandchild to their day care.

The sun is out but its about 5F now.

I am going to hunker down and do some reading.

Fred and Ethyl are, in all likelihood, sisters, as in, blood sisters.

Fred is pushy and cranky but she's not a fighter. Ethyl will whack people, cats included. My money is on Ethyl.
