After a trip to the store in blizzard conditions, I was back in the house for good for the day! Worked on a few really annoying projects today.

Busy day... tile work started in the bathroom. Handyman took a couple breaks and helped me move the heavy desk and chaise lounge in my home office. Everything is re-connected and in working order. Definitely warmer at the desk now that it's away from the exterior wall.

Now? I'm ready for a hot shower and read until my hair dries. Sounds like a busy day for lots of us... a little catch up before I tuck into bed...

Color preference?

Man did I have weird dreams last night.

First one was long and rambling and my mom was in it.

Second one was i was at some scenic place where we could barely see the Pacific Ocean. But then i was in Somerville NJ at the old bowling alley which had been converted to a big box store. I was reminiscing w the clerk while checking out about what the old bowling alley was like and some snot nosed kid pulled an OK Boomer thing on me (I’m gen x), then we got to fighting and he had a friend who was about to kick my ass. But then I was running along a railroad track with Iggy Pop, who was on my side.

C’mon dream analysts… what does it mean??

Personally, I feel it's my brain or subconscious either protecting me or doing a bit of self-care as I continue to work through a loss. Either way, I tend to enjoy when friends and relatives come a calling.

I will wash dishes....just bring them to the sink and someone keep me company while I finish up.

I've been hours behind all day... nice to see others stepping up. I'd have gladly offered to dry.

going to put him on a 12 hour pain meds cycle with sleeping medicine an hour before I go to sleep.

maybe a bit more than an hour so you have a buffer? Since the cycle looks to be 12 hours. Hope the meds do the trick and allow you both restful sleep again

I’m feeling better so called back in to work after taking a couple three sick days (and maybe stretched it a day to make the celebration of life for my friend ) and after getting packed took the whole tribe out for supper.

Sooooo…you had a visitation! My wife is big into dream interpretation. These visits by departed loved one she holds in high regard. I’ve never been one to put much faith in that line of thinking, but I’ve had more family than I care to mention depart the pattern over the last twenty years. Most of whom have made a “visit” to my dreams.

I love those visits. So far, none of those have been scary or creepy. They have been loving, fun, and bittersweet once I begin to awake.

I recall when my mom painted the bedroom furniture. She found some mis-matched pieces at a couple garage sales. Then painted them all the same color and hand-stenciled the same design on them so they looked like a set. Thank you for evoking that fond memory.

I love/hate vinyl siding. I love that it's relatively easy to fix, normally zero maintenance. But it cracks to easily in the cold.

I'm so sorry!! Given the damage, I doubt that the driver could have missed the fact that they hit your garage. Sad they didn't step up and take ownership. Sounds like an expensive fix for someone else's "oops".

Growing up, when we had weather like that, Dad said he was the only one allowed to leave the house. He knew we kids would have a day off school and want to go out and play. Mom wasn't a fan of being locked up with all us kids, but knew it was for the best, too.

Damn, I am selling firewood left and right. It’s a good problem to have.

I left the house for the farm about an hour ago to fill up three empty $20 bins. (it’s literally around a quarter, 1/4 mile away.) When I went down there about an hour ago, the roads were just wet.

45 minutes later, driving up the hill, the roads were covered in about an inch and a half of snow and very slick!

Glad you managed to make some good sales today and got home safely again!!

Winter out here can be tough but this beauty makes it worth it!

Since you have to take the door down anyway, have you considered painting the hardware? They make spray paint for metal surfaces now. Here's an article for ideas.

What's your hourly rate? Handyman's doing a great job but it's very messy!! I feel like I'll be cleaning for days once the bathroom facelift is done.

Winter just got real! They sent met to LGA and had to get a car up to Stewart Newburgh. I beat the worst of it, but my crew wasn’t so lucky. Their driver. had to drive 25mph from LaGuardia! . Over three hours. We told the company, we’ll be bagging today and going to hotel to try again tomorrow! What a mess up here!
