The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Well, this morning it was the 318 club.

My back was really bad Saturday night, but Sunday night was pretty good. But last night was awful no matter what position I was in, my back was bothering me.

Standing is better and walking is even better than that. Sitting is bad.

Watered the garden and seedlings this morning. Had a surprise guest in one of my traps this morning. Have to take care of him later this afternoon when I get home. Poor thing. I’ll put him in the shade.

Off to corporate Zombieland

Woke up on the couch this morning. I fell asleep on it after a marathon mermaid expedition/My Little Pony gaming session with the little one. I told myself I just needed a little nap before jumping in the shower. Woke up in the middle of the night and just said F it.

I might see if I can get Mom's old tractor going and get air in the tires. There's a few very large limbs at the corner of the yard and a burn pile I want to remove. Not to mention a 55 gallon barrel that is full of ashes and rain water.

We never use to burn here when Dad was alive. He believed in piling it up out in the woods to create habitat and let it slowly rot back into the soil. We have to acreage to do that. It's not for everyone.

I've got three days off and I want to do a picnic at the beach on the reservoir. Maybe cook some some burgers and hotdogs on one of the grills. Let the kids play in the swimming area and grab some sun.

I skipped Monday. It’s my superpower.

Actually went to the range and sent 100+ shells of steel and lead down range. Did the sporting clays range for the first time in years…I think it’ll become my new obsession. Didn’t shoot half bad for a four month layoff.

Happy Tuesday. My “real” Monday starts tomorrow 😭…then after this next week it’s vacation! Plans are in flux as SWhoMBO is starting to shift some gears on me. It is never dull here…that’s for sure.

Some SD Badlands MZ for this week…

I'm curious where you heard "SWhoMBO" used before. I heard it on the British TV show Rumpole

Hahaha! I remember Rumpole! Either our PBS station used to show it or it was in syndication/rotation on one of the BBC’s we watched while living in Europe!

As much as I’d like to take credit for inventing it, I’m sure I either picked it up from that series or heard it in one of my army units. Our wives were always given titles…Kitchen 6 (all army commanders are “6”, so if your Squadron call sign was Pegasus, the commander would be Pegasus 6…the rest of us would be any number after…Pegasus 24 ect…) or She Who Must Be Obeyed! Probably a couple others I can’t remember.

I liked the later (so did she BTW😂)…she tended to frown on Kitchen 6…even though it denotes the top of the food chain!

Hello Spooner's
Lady K is well. But me? Blood pressure is 178/90 and I'm coughing up blood with frequent nose bleeds. Lady K sent me to the hospital this morning. I've got extremely high blood pressure and they're keeping me overnight while they do tests on me to try to control it. I'll keep everyone updated. The annoying nurse's are trying to give me hourly sleeping pills because I talk to much...

Feel better soon RJ. Let us I'll keep you in our hopes and prayers

I've never ghosted or stood up anyone. I think it's incredibly rude. I have always tried to be nice about telling someone it doesn't work for me. However, I have no problem being straight-up blunt about it if necessary.
I'll take honestly up front over wishy-washy indecision or similar BS. If you aren't interested, just say you're not interested.

I was stood up on the very first blind date I was supposed to go on (it was the last one I tried!). I drove hours to get there. Was not pleased...

Ashes can be good in the garden. We have a small wood burning stove, and when I empty the ashes and small bits of charcoal, I spread them in the garden. Apparently the charcoal from small slow burning fires is really good at holding and releasing nutrients for the plants.

Good luck. I'm of the mind that no one gets better in the hospital, they just tolerate it long enough to get over the hump and then get home where the real healing takes place.
