My family has a military service history dating back to the Civil War. My wife’s side has a rich history also. We all came home, except one. I’m remembering all, but especially my great uncle.
Lost over Saint Nazaire France after piloting his B-17 on a bombing run on Nazi sub pens. The last known contact from a sister ship had two engines knocked out and a flight of FW-190’s attacking as the plane straggled. Plane and crew listed as MIA. Most likely crashed into the Atlantic.
I finished Masters of The Air - Donald Miller, this past winter. It specifically talks about this mission on 23 Nov 42. The Luftwaffe changed their tactics to head on attacks because the B-17’s were so well armored…except for the nose guns. Once the new tactic was employed, they started inflicting heavy losses on the fortresses. Unfortunately, one of those was my uncles plane.
May we never forget those that gave all.
I literally just laughed out loud!
May his soul rest in Peace…RIP SSG Joe B. Iraq, 2003
A real soldier's soldier and leader.

Both of my parents were Vets. My dad went to Vietnam and was in Saigon during the Tet Offensive. We were lucky he came home; he very nearly didn't.

Night all
When I was going through candidate school, we had several SOF soldiers in our company. A few Rangers also. When we graduated from WOC-A to B, they locked us down. So while the rest of the fort was out on a Sat night hitting the bars, we were confined to our ready room with a couple of pool tables, foozeball and all the Pepsi, Pizza, and Popcorn we could choke down.
Wow! Gorgeous. Thank you for sharing.

I understand that! It takes discipline and constant practice to undo all that brainwashing!I've heard this before. Doing it the other way takes the joy out of eating. In my case it's hard to undo the training my parents gave me!
