The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Earlier today I heard they pulled the plug on MTeeVee…not that I’d watched it in 35+ yrs but still, another nail in the coffin of our youth. I was goofing off on the Oracle of All Knowledge today and stumbled upon this:

The first three hrs of programming! 😂

For those that are members of the Short Attention Span Club (SAS-C), I did all the hard work for you.

It’s a goofy if not serious launch of a new network, complete with old commercials, a PSA from First Lady Nancy Reagan (no not the drugs one), plenty of Pat Benatar, Who, and REO Speedwagon (who had the most appearances in the first three hrs), along with some filler bands.

There were a lot of the filler bands. I guess they had to fill up 24hrs with something in ‘82. A couple of bands that were good but never heard from again, some staples from the time that were eclipsed by slicker production and a couple of songs that I haven’t heard in 40 yrs! Like this Ex-Dobbie——

So there it is. End of an era….long overdue I guess as I read today they haven’t shown a music Vid in close to 20 yrs. I do miss 120 mins though…
The only thing i really miss about MTV was when they used to play The Young Ones on Sunday nights at midnight.

Motörhead - Ace of Spades

Yum!

Dal and Naan... 🤤

And I love the tamarind chutney - just have to ask them to make a special batch w/o the fish sauce for me. I have a co-worker from Malaysia who said it's not a burdensom ask to make. Win Column!
After I got out of the army, I worked very briefly for a company outsourcing call centers in India and went there a few times.

The joke was the the daal was made in a pot and they just kept adding to it. Like never washing it, just keeping it continually cooking… I dunno if it was a joke or not! 😂

Bummer. I haven’t seen music and MTV in the sa,e place since I don’t know when.
However, some of my favorite binging on Paramount is labeled with MTV. I hope my fav franchises live on.

I've heard the same story. Guessing there's some truth to it. Certain "olde style" recipes work that way. Ever hear of Perpetual Stew?

Also - if the aged condiments in my fridge don't take me down... 🤨

But, yes - when you think about either too long 🤢
