When I was in eighth grade… 1980 or 1981 we had a really old teacher, whose maybe in her late 60s, so she was old school.

At one point, she made a comment that something funny was called a Boner. I mean, I guess that’s what they called something humorous (see what I did there) in the olden days….

But a bunch of 12/13 year old kids thought THAT word funny.

Another mindless day of work.

I think I still like it.

I am not sure. I like the routine of it… I like the paycheck.

My coworker and counterpart is retiring. March 31st. I was pretty surprised. My boss was pretty upset - like in a good way.

But life and work and stuff moves on.

We gotta figure out if we’ll have the headcount or if we have to do more with less… let me guess.

You'll be asked to be a "team player" and pick up more work with the same pay.

Do any of you guys remember having to do square dancing or ballroom dancing in gym class?

I don't recall my first, first dance w/ someone not a relative... I was too young to recall and any that would are no longer around to ask.

However, we had the square dance and ballroom dance class in 8th grade. Ours was after school once a week. I was actually really looking forward to learning the dances.

First class - instructor takes attendance. Story of my life: "Since there are more girls than boys, we'll need some of you taller girls to dance the boy's part."
Me: FUUUUCK! I'm never gonna learn how to dance proper

Second class - on crutches. Guess who managed to dislocate a knee in a soccer game over the weekend? After about 3 weeks of my doing nothing but standing on the sidelines (yeah - no chair. thanks, assholes)... I finally pled my case enough to my mom who got me out of the rest of the class. Champion, mum!

To this day, if I do any sort of partner dancing, I need a very strong lead... or whomever they are needs to suck it up and just follow. Only twice have I had a lead strong enough for the task.

Doubt I'd recall any of the dances anymore. It's been 3+ decades since I've danced any of them.

Good morning denizens of the diner. So much fog this morning. And temperatures are near freezing! I start Grandpa taxi in the morning next week. My daughter and I are having a frank and good conversation about the kid’s safety and mine. She is a good daughter.

Local news reporting very high cases of RSV, Covid and flu. Be careful out there and be safe.

You be careful! You might consider wearing a mask when with your grands. Many diseases have an incubation period where symptoms don't show but germs get shared!

Oh we have a peer that likes to step back let everyone do the work and take credit/criticise. .. all with the excuse that she doesnt want us to be doing rework.... it is all bullshit... we were splitting up responsibilities for onboarding new person and she took nothing... when we asked she was like u guys have it.... so trust and believe i will be speaking up with "you had the opportunity to take the lead and declined...your input at this time is a moot point and isnt required" all said in a professional way of course.... my other coworker team chatted me that she finally believed what i said about her work ethic .. my response "i have been dealing with this shit for 6 years"

Ugh! I hate those people! They don't take on anything extra then swan around talking about how hard they're working.

Today was a long day.

I had an early meeting - went well. Traveling to Toronto next week for work and making sure project team are crisping their messaging and alignment. Found a few gaps.

Then had a last minute exercise on an other project that was very unnecessary. My turn to be blunt:

“Why are we playing defense on this topic? This is last minute BS for something that should have been worked out ages ago. This is unplanned change, not planned change.

Now I am working late to deal with an issue that is not of my making.”

So goes my day. I don’t like complaining about work so I’ll stop.
