Yeah, it’s weird. usually, I think about lake effects now on the eastern side of the Great Lakes or the southern side of the Great Lakes. But this storm is going from north to south and gather all kinds of moisture over the lake and dumping it right over Ontario.

I have to admit it’s been kind of fun, not having to drive in it or deal with it outside

Yes for example London Ontario gets hit every winter because they are East of Lake Huron..

Thats exactly whats happening today Lake Effect snow.. The Cold Air blows over the warm Great Lakes and just Hoovers up the moisture and dumps it as snow down wind.

Make sure you pronounce it correctly. "lake-e-fucked"...

We just need to get that last 200 more inches before summer.

Slept in to 5, looked outside, and see I am snowed in. I am not doing grandpa taxiing this morning. I can see that the well traveled road outside is very snow covered. The temperature is so cold, the salt is not working. I am sipping coffee by the fireplace.

Brr - stay safe... glad the Taxi and passengers/driver are grounded today

I like college basketball more than the pros

For those keeping score - I know -all about sports... and have no TV so haven't watched a game in decades. I'm single - don't find it enjoyable to watch solo.

So - I will say... Gonzaga has a lovely campus. My brother likes the team and it was one of the places we visited decades ago on a trip to Spokane, WA. They have a Bing Crosby Museum there, too. He was a student for a time before he was "asked to leave" is the polite phrase I believe was used.

I was watching a mewscast about juneau alaska talking about people frantically removing anow from roofs before planned rain... watched a guy standing in what looked like 5 ft snow on his roof

I’m much more of a women’s college basketball fan.

2 male friends in college turned me onto "chicks hoops" as they called it. In their words - less crowds, cheaper tickets, and those girls got just as much game as the guys... sometimes more.

Yeah... i like wnba untill all this angel reese crap. I cant stand her... i also dont like the blatant fouls and targeting last year made it unpleasant to watch

I didn't watch enough to follow all the stuff going on with Caitlin Clark a few seasons ago either. Let's just play ball, y'all! Ugh

As a former employee of the University of Tennessee, I think I am legally obligated to throw out a "go Vols" at this point.

I sometimes say "go Vols" just because I'm a fan of The Body Farm.
Then I have to think a minute to remember that in this instance Vols = Volunteers so it's pronounced differently than Voles*

*This is why, when watching sports with my family, I am "allowed" to say "Go Team!"

I don't understand why more people don't cook and bake.

Time, money, and a food chain that makes it too easy to buy chemicals and pretend they're food IMHO.
For me - I'm single, so it's a PITA cooking for one... and the last decade+ I've picked up some really annoying food intolerances. So I say it

My mom eats parmesan as a snack

I tried that... parmesan crisps. Got the timing for a really tasty snack made in the toaster oven. But they are salty, greasy, and high fat... which my body doesn't really like. But they're easy to whip up for an easy app to bring to family dinners. Not cheap, mind you. But easy to make and popular with the crowd.

It wasn’t fun here. We thought we would just get an inch. We got 6. The front just lingered instead of moving quickly.
