I think the Marvin's I got [Infinity I think was the grade] Are as good or better than Andersen or Pella. And much less cost. Plus the dealer that did them was 150 per window -15 of them. Also a nice break. The doors are what are really expensive. And in this ~30year old house worth the cost. The main front and back were not simple and the guy who did it was a good craftsman. Enjoyed watching. They seal well and don't fall open or closed... I forget the brand but if someone goes outside with a bright light you cannot see it on the inside. I've seen some crappy installs. The difference after insulation upgrades provided far more comfort than the windows. The windows are still better to look at and through. The new door with top and bottom bolt and side latch are just wow. You lift on the handle and can instantly feel you are on the other side.

Its ok... that is what i lint brush is for... and then slip covers..... they were 130$ each.... not a huge emotional or financial investment

These aren't that bad. It's a retro kit. But with the Anderson windows, they have the track built into the frame. So you just have to be careful.You don't mess up the frames. And then i'm using silicone caulk. Make sure I get a good seal.

In the spring I'm doing one casemint window for the kitchen. The problem with that is it's crank style which can lead to more problems with the crank mechanism

The good ones seem to last. The cheap ones - well - not so much.

The caseman, I'm replacing is 40 years old. And it's andersen, so i'm replacing it with another anderson.

I only have 2. On the wall where the kitchen table is supposed to be. I got one opens west and one east so I can scoop the breeze if I like it. It didn't make sense to get more but I wanted them.

I think that, were I doing windows from scratch, that I'd install casement windows. They seal closed and lock closed more gooderer'n anything else out there, methinks.

Have had/do have both. I like these latest double hung windows. Easier to clean. Especially on the second floor.

Before he ghosted, The Handyman was angling to replace my windows (not a euphemism). Given his performance to that point, I never told him but the only way he was touching my windows was if he was going to clean them. Also - not a euphemism!
