The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Hola Amiga’s and Amigo’s. Been busy. Hope everyone is doing well. We missed the big snow last week but I hear there’s something brewing for this weekend down south? Of course I escaped to warmer climes but I’m sure my plants will pay the price. That is unless the tribe does their job and brings and covers…actually I just left the covers on from last week, so those should be fine.

Attempted a catch up this morning but it’s futile and time is of the essence. Stay warm if you’re in Dixie and I’m sure it’s still cold up North…I’ll find out today as I have to leave my short sleeves and shorts cove. Damn work weasels (my bosses) won’t just leave me in a good spot!

At least I get to spend time with a rookery of Skyrats this morning…

Alright Vato’s…need to wander down and see what’s for breakfast.

I’ll leave you with a butchered Jimmy tune…”warm tropical breezes, good wines and cheeses…keeps your ambition at bay…”

As long as it is fresh and legal. In Pennsylvania, salvaging roadkill for consumption is strictly regulated. While the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) allows the possession of certain species, it is essential to follow specific, legal procedures, especially regarding reporting, to avoid penalties.
While I don't go out of my way to collect it, I have been known to make meals out of it.

If it's something good...

And it isn't too "smeared down the road"...

Tell me about it.

At least this one has a "secret hole" you can jab a screwdriver into to be able to shift it into neutral with the engine off. That rolling it into lift bay by hand to do the oil changes.

And don't get me started about this 0W20 oil bullshit. I've seen water thicker than that oil!
Meanwhile, in other countries with the exact same engines, their recommended oil is 5w30.
So it gets factory recommend oil weight, as it's still under warranty. But I change that Mobile 1 every 4K miles, and cut open every filter!
Transmission fluid will get changed at 20K. Gonna start doing that on the truck too.

I'm in a mood this morning!
Ask your dealer for the heavier oil. It doesn’t void your warranty and it’ll make the engine last longer. The only reason they’ve gone to the super light weight oils is to wrench one more MPG for the gov mandates. Meanwhile industry wide, vehicles aren’t lasting as long as they should.

Summers and winters scattered like splinters and four or five years slipped away

I tight something like -30 c and -30 f intersected and were close together? There’s a few points that I’ve always used to guesstimate.

-30c is close to -30f
0c is 32f
16c is 61f
40c is summertime hot.
-40C and -40F are the same. That's one point I always remember.
Because I don't have to convert it!

We're finally starting to trend above zero F. Right at 0 most of the night, and up to 6F this morning. Although the forecast isn't for much better.

Anyone here ever install a radon mitigation fan/system? Radon isn't a problem, but the fan might solve a problem for me...

The manual in this one says 0-20W oil or you'll void the warranty. It's a tough gamble. Void warranty to maybe make the engine last longer??? My concern with light oils is they design the clearances to be tighter in the engine, which means less clearances! But as the engines are designed for lighter oil, they may not last with thicker oil.

My current plan is to run 0W-20 until the warranty is up Then switch to 5w-20 or maybe 5W-30.

The biggest thing is to have shorter change intervals. Currently I've chosen 4000 miles. Since filters and oil are cheap, I might drop to 3000 miles...

Any Tribologists in the house?

Don't forget oxygen boils at about 90K!

And it has a very pretty blue hue.

So would your fingers if you soaked them in it!
I've boiled my hand/fingers before, knowingly and intentionally, but I had divers down and had to restore power to the vessel.
It SUCKED, but all I can say is Thank God for Comfrey, the miracle plant...
It took the pain away and cut the healing time in half!

I once accidentally deep fried a rubber glove to my hand. No one's life was at stake, I just tried to catch a thing falling in a deep fryer
