The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Since i stopped drinking coffee, I have had a cup with the lady of the house because it smells so good.
Problem is I don't think I slept more than an hour that night.
My big jolly now is waiting for lunch and heavily lacing my salad with Pomegranate berries. It’s like a massive sugar bomb without the shock. I like the extra pop I get when I have the country french salad dressing too. Really makes my day.
You eat a very healthy diet. I know folks who are sensitive to coffee and quit drinking it. My desire for coffee come from a family where my dad would drink a cup at dinner. I now stop drinking coffee by noon. Otherwise I am up like you.

I had my eyes done with multi-focus lens a few years ago. I hadn't had surgery but once before and I was 45ish. I was drinking a case or more of beer each week and decided a few weeks before the first eye I would stop drinking beer to see if I could stop drinking beer. At the same time I stopped wine. A few days before, the instructions said stop coffee.
The beer was easy. I missed wine and I drank coffee the day after the first eye till the day or 2 before the second eye. Same after. Beer I opened one about a week later and that first sip while it tasted as great as I expected I could feel the alcohol like a curtain fall from my forehead down my face. I finished the beer and was shocked at this cloak it felt like my head was in. It was easy. I don't drink beer. I wish I could stop drinking wine. Or maybe I wish I would just stop, but I don't.
The next year for the annual physical I went to a new doc as I hadn't really had a physical since 2011. She said I was fine and if I didn't drink coffee and walked more my BP would likely be normal.
I stopped the coffee cold turkey like all the other vices I kicked in my days. Oh My! The headaches. I mean bad. After a week or so I sent an internal message and said I was having these headaches. She asked if I quit drinking coffee and if I did told me to have a cup. hahaha Oh shit that was some kind of pain. I had two cups measured. The next day I had one and the next I took an excedrine because I wasn't sure if I had the headache or not. Then. That was that. No coffee for about 3 years or so. The last few weekends one we took the grandkid her younger daughter out to breakfast. The 15 year old wanted coffee. Apparently there is a starbucks at school? Anyway if she can I can. Diner had great coffee. I didn't sleep right for 2 nights. Then we got snowed in and I still make her mom my girl the coffee I used to make for us before we went to the office every day. I didn't drink as much but I still lost a nights sleep.
Its a hell of a trade off and the doc makes me take a statin for cholesterol but diet is still working for the BP.
I quit all these things pretty close to the same time and was laid off from work. At this same time I gained 15 and sometimes more pounds that never go away. I know I need to walk but its cold. I pretty much go out for food, watch the kids basketball games and the grocery store. Some taxi service when the momma can't get home in time. That is why I have been saying I need a job. I don't feel lazy but know I sit way more than I have my entire life.
I wish I could say I eat a healthy diet. It is all natural. Mostly. I eat very few meal type foods that come in a container with a barcode on them. Fresh produce and meats, fish. Well we have been debating fish lately. Is it a meat? Vegetarians don't eat fish. They had eyes when they were alive. My problems are chocolate chip cookies, bread, and things with a barcode. Butter. Popcorn. Any kind of pasta or rice. I can't eat a small potato and while I stopped butter on those, I put sour cream now. I cannot find a substitute for cottage cheese. And when I use cottage cheese I have a few spoonfuls just because its open. I like scallops lobster shrimp too. I hear that's all fat and not all that great for you even though it comes from the sea. I make beef worse now for sure. That sous vide makes it safe to eat, but a lot of the fat that is cooked out of it using tradition methods is not. Which is why I like it I suppose. I've done filet to 125 long enough to kill anything bad then seared it and let it set under aluminum foil to get closer to room temp. Not quite the texture of raw but close and all the flavor. In winter at least this one I have made several reductions that top off well with a healthy dose of heavy cream. May as well be taking a bite out of a stick of butter.
Ah. I feel better. Like I've disclosed and disposed of all my guilt. hahaha

Wonderer had a reaction to bourbon balls because balls.

Not sure what's going to happen here.

Of course, as I just told him, if I didn't tease him mercilessly, he wouldn't know how much I lurves him.
