Black flies are about 1/8" long. No see ums will crawl right through a window screen.

A mosquito hardly leaves a mark. A blackfly leaves a 1/4" mark with spot of blood in the middle*. A no see um will leave a mark the size of a us quarter.

*unless you're particularly allrgic, then the whole side of your face will swell up or you'll end up in the ER.

I'm sure gald we don't have black flies.

that was mentioned in one of the resources I listed in my post. But it was a follow up treatment if the first 1 or 2 basic tries didn't work... also, with a BIG caution about colored wool and bleaching. You'd want to spot test first before treating a spot of colored wool IMO
