The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Hoisting up a cup of Earl Grey in honor of TxRad. It's cool here this morning with heavy dew all over the grass and garden. We didn't get all of the rain that was forecast so I'll have to do some watering today.

Todays weather report!
Windy Color Radar shows mostly clear skies with a big old wad of storms in the midsection of the country theres storms all over North Central Texas and stretching north through Oklahoma to North Platte Nebraska, a second bunch of storms is beating up Amarillo & Dumas TX. A Third storm center is over Jackson Mississippi.

In Oz there's scattered high clouds across the island from Melbourne to Broome

In England, the UK is completely covered in clouds. There's no rain on the radar

2 More Days Until Hurricane Season! So until Jun 1, all Hurricanes are illegal (I'm looking at YOU Japan!)

Mr. Coffee is cranked up and coffee is on. As Tex pointed out there's only one thing needed to enjoy coffee: a cup.
The Tea Pot is also full for anyone who would like to experience The Leaf.
I don't know what weather report you're looking at, but I think it's last week's. Today is cold, wet, and miserable.

Weather is gorgeous here - Currently 73°, high of 78 mostly clear with hazy clouds. Just lovely.

However, I'm inside sorting out computers. I had been using an old OS (Mac OSX "Yosemite") on my primary computer because of bought software like Excel and Photoshop, but it's now at the point where most commercial websites no longer work with the old browsers. I already had a disk partition on this Mac with the current MacOS ("Monterey") but the bought software doesn't work*. I just converted my spreadsheets to Apple Numbers and they're okay, so that's good. But if I want to use any Adobe creative apps, I have to reboot into the old system.
* - Yes, Microsoft has versions for the current OS, as does Adobe. I will be damned if I'm going to pay a subscription ransom. Hell will freeze first.

Next issue to unscramble is e-mail. I use a text-only client on the old OS, and just need to find an equivalent under the new one. I seriously avoid browser-based e-mail apps because of spam malware.

I also just cleaned-up my Linux (Ubuntu) machine, but there aren't any spreadsheet apps that understand Excel files, so for the time being I have to carry on with the Mac and Apple's planned-obsolescence BS.

Today is a light day by necessity- I cheerfully ignored the warning signs of an impending flare yesterday while hopping around, so I'm reduced to a stick-assisted hobble and lots of nsaids. I suppose it gives me an excuse to write more of my "how many horrible cliches can I for in one story" spoof. Oh, tragedy.

Breezy and 75 here, and I have plenty of sun tea left to sip on while I put poor little Missy through more torture.

I've finished all my paid work for the rest of the week. YEAH! I'm such a good slut, aren't I? Having a coffee break, checking on all my writing PALS and SALS, before I settle back into writing on something anything for me. Waiting to see the book cover for my newest creation, too, hoping the mistress of the cover will hit it out of the park. She continues to tweak the image I shared here t'other day. Hows tricks with y'all?

Such a good girl. 😈

Glad to hear you're having a good day!

My neighbors are shooting at something (gods only know) and my cowardly dog is hiding under my porch chair and growling in their general direction. Considering I'm currently writing a werewolf spanking scene, it's both amusingly on point and distracting. I'm making a pasta salad for lunch, would anyone like some?

Dell--FireFox!! My computer is probably seven years old; I use FireFox and Open Office.

Ah, but that's Windows. We don't do windows. Or Windows, either. Gotta bear in mind I did the computer thing for a living for 45 years, so just ignore my thinking out loud. I did get the e-mail thing straightened out.

Joke for the other "older" computer nerds on this forum: I knew it was time to retire when Firefox announced they were no longer going to support the IBM 1620.

I miss Netscape Communicator/Navigator.

Oh, this is fun. Since that last note I drove myself to the ER with suspected tachycardia. The nice staff has poked and stickered me, and we’re just waiting for the doctor.

Stay tuned for our next episode!

Good luck Mr. P, Hope that works out for you.

At an Air BnB in La Grange, right now. It was a bumpy flight getting here, but otherwise it's been good.

They kicked me out. Other than the too-high heart rate and high BP, everything else was normal. Obvious recommendation to make an appointment with the cardiologist ASAP.

I imagine that could be worse. Do they use pace makers for that?

Still waiting on the coffee pot. Almost here... almost here... DONE! Hunt down a cup, pour the brew. It smells OK. The last time I made coffee in an automatic drip maker was, uhh. About the time the kids moved out.

Now for the taste test. It's okay. Not quite the thick consistency I get with a Melita cone. I'm the first one up, so I'll have to wait and see what the others say.

If there's something they think is underlying especially if the pulse is irregular, yeah, they'll implant something to keep the rhythm in check. It was normal (65 BPM) this morning. The 125 last night when just sitting here at the computer scared the shit out of me, but the EKG at the hospital showed it was regular and even, just fast.

I was reading the labs from last night and glucose was the highest ever, so I can surmise it was a sugar high. As much as it pains me to say this, but margaritas with lunch (<1 a week) are probably off the menu for the foreseeable.

Coffee's fine, so thanks for doing that.

Isn't Mister Coffee just a big electric Melitta Cone? Personally I like the French press but my gadget crazy mother in law got us a Keurig AND a Nespresso. I switched to tea.

If you use a big Melita cone, then it probably is. I use the 1-cup (#2) cone, so my coffee his hand-crafted, one cup at a time. When brewing larger batches, I think you need to use less coffee grounds per cup. I cut my usual amount per cup in half for the 12-cup coffee maker here. It's a little strong (using Pete's Major Dickason's Blend), but no-one's complained yet.

Well, my weekend to do list might be cancelled. Woke up this morning with my left leg having technical difficulties. Waiting to see if coffee and a dose of meds will reboot the thing- I do feel a bit like a redneck pirate through. Just me and my trusty cedar branch, with a chicken on my shoulder.

We don't know, and we also don't know TxRad's IRL family circumstances. Probably best left alone.
