The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Good morning! Thanks for getting the morning coffee @ChloeTzang, I may break my tea kick and have a cup this AM.

Quick check - There are no hurricanes on the globe this morning. Have a happy Monday.

Whew! I was really worried about hurricanes.

Had a long call with the youngest last night and got all caught up on the ballet business. Some of what I wrote into Watch Me! and Valentines for Cinderella is still current.

Morning, forgive my many absences from the happiest place on earth; wait, no that's Disney Land. Anyway, I'm leading a very busy life right now as a grandmother... We have contemplated flying to Boston for the game tonight and decided against it as we don't give a flying fuck about the game or flying fuck about flying in a fucking airplane at this time. What's in the pot today? I'm in the mood for something exotic, like Folgers or Maxwell House.

Well, at least we're not in the unhappiest place nowhere near Earth, inside ancient black holes where dark matter is believed to be hiding out (if I understand the gist of the lay-audience news coverage). Chloe's coffee (now there's a brand name) will assist me in working out the sixth installment of the non-sequential story set that I've been flailing away at this year. The sex scenes are really hot, so what I need to work in are more sex scenes.

We just arrived at our cabin and were informed one of our favorite friends here had a fatal heart attack on Saturday, completely out of the blue. He and his wife were one of only two couples we communicated with outside of the resort. He was on the younger side of the social circles here (late 40s, I think). I am quite concerned about his wife, who has chronic health issues. Hopefully the resort manager has more information; we talk to her tomorrow.

Also in remembrance of good people who have "moved on", Wednesday will be two months since TxRad's passing. Sure miss ya', Tx.

My wife and I were traveling about two hours away yesterday to visit my daughter, when we were inundated with texts and missed calls from our extended group of neighbors and friends.

One of our friends in our very social community, a couple my wife and I had just visited days earlier, found his wife had died overnight. There were no warning signs or health problems that anyone knew. She just died in her sleep.

Live while you can, because it could happen to any of us at any time.

I'll call your slow internet, and raise you a power outage. Lights here went out 30 minutes ago. I'm on by virtue of a fully-charged laptop and not-fully-charged phone hotspot. We'll just see how long the latter lasts. Fortunately I can recharge the phone in the van; laptop, not so much.

I use my cellphone hot-spot quite a bit. The last time I did a speed test, it tested out as slightly faster than my hard-wire home internet connection. We have unlimited data on the cellphone account, so I could lose the cable for my computer uses, but I still need the cable for all the "smart" devices in the house.

We're using one of the new 5G internet services, it uses a Cell connection and is much quicker that my previous provider that will go unnamed *cough*Xfinity*cough* I rarely use my cell phone for anything other than taking pictures and making phone calls... does that make me a luddite or just old?

Power came back an hour after I posted that, internet did not. I had to text the front office and they had to call their ISP. Tech just left, so everything is up.

The campground has fiber to the outside world so is plenty fast, but it seems every time the power goes out, the router loses its mind and requires an on-site expert reset. I've seen it happen three times in two years, and we're actually not here all that often. You would think by now the ISP would spring for a UPS big enough to span the gaps to save money paying the tech for what I think is a two- or three-hour round trip to the boonies.

I too-frequently have to use my cell as a network backup, so it's practiced.

I had three votes removed from stories this morning. The scores didn't change. In two cases, the mostly likely vote removed was 5*. In the third case the chances were equal of it being 4* or 5*. They all have enough votes that I can't tell for sure what the votes were, I can only identify "most probable," and with enough votes, the difference between the most probably and the second-most probable is small.

A Mini sweep? I'll check my scores later. My "Fan Club" has been up to shenanigans

Ugh, I think, think (after two relapses) that I have finally kicked Covid after it thoroughly trashed my ass.
I repeat: ugh.
*make a grab for some hot tea to aid in Operation Clear the Sinuses Out.*
Hope all is well for everyone.

Here's a cup of earl gray and a Buffalo style chicken wing. Any way you use it, it will clear your sinuses.

Hey,

Glad to see most of us are well or getting closer to it.

I've been on a four-day writing streak prompted by that Lit request to write a Fan/fic story I mentioned, and some of you commented on your experiences. It was a remarkable time-on-task event. I managed to put together over nine thousand words. Well, that includes a long fourteen-hour day of editing on day five, so I guess it is five long days of writing/editing.

Each day, I shared the drafts and received some valuable feedback from the requester. The changes suggested were minor, which I took as a testament he liked the quality of the work. Overall, it was a fulfilling experience to meet someone's request for a custom-made story.

I've sent it off to my favorite Lit editor, Kenjisato for corrections. Meanwhile, as I await its return and Lit's posting these are a couple of lines from the character's admirer.

"Man, this is impressive. Especially the speed with which you wrote. This is also some quality writing; it felt as if I was there.

"I am really happy with the resulting story. You have become my favourite erotic writer."

:coffee:🤩

No... it doesn't. I still haven't learned how to use many features on my iPhone 9. I can call and answer but the rest is somewhat Greek. I manage to mess up most messages trying to listen to them. I tried a few text messages but gave them up. The doctors keep sending me crap to log into their portals. I shake my head and just show up for my appointments written on my paper calendar hanging by my forty-year-old landline. Those guys wanting to buy my houses who call the landline and ask if they can send a text–'sure go ahead,' I tell them. Sometimes, I can't help myself having a little fun.

Are you telling me the thing can take pictures? When did that start?:nana::giggle::ROFLMAO::coffee::coffee::coffee:

I guess I've reached a new life stage - had the thing in my 20s of being invited to clashing weddings, then friends having babies at the same time, now it's clashing funerals I can't attend.

Feeling for particular family members who will have to sit through a whole Catholic mass to support their parent, while being repulsed by it. Especially the ones without partners to support them.
