The Alpha's new Mate

Jason shook his head. "No they are way on the other side of the country. Dean and I came out here to learn the business but Dean decided pretty early on it wasn't really for him. Oh he stuck with it, but once I took over he sort of branched out to other things and I didn't really mind. That place was never really a good fit for him."

He wondered why he was telling her so much about his brother as well as himself but it all seemed so natural for him to do so.

"Our parents visit occasionally but they are pretty busy with their own business as well. Oh we stay in touch, Skype is a wonderful thing and every couple of years we will all meet up near Yellowstone. In fact that is coming up at the end of this year I think."

Sasha smiled and listened as Jason spoke. He had such a beautiful voice and she felt like she would be happy just listening to it for hours. What the hell? Where had that thought come from? She just met the guy today! "Well i'm glad you are both doing what you like. I mean I think you are at least. Right?"

Sasha smiled at her own rambling. She felt as if she could tell Jason all of her thoughts. She wondered why that was and then she remembered why she had closed herself off and suddenly brought herself in. She was still sitting straight but you could tell she was building a wall up. She had forgotten the most important reason of why her first experience was so bad, besides the attempted rape. The reason she kept looking over her shoulder. She shuddered as she thought about what her ex-boyfriend had said to her the next day. The reason she was homeschooled for the last year of highschool. She thought about going back on her agreement to the ranch but knew she couldn't, but she would keep her guard up.

Jason was watching her closely and saw her suddenly grow a little cold in her attitude. She had been so open and happy, and then it was like she had just slammed the door shut on her feelings and locked him out. A shudder went through her body and he saw her eyes dart around the room.

Oh he knew what that behavior was all about. He had seen it many times on some of the strays he had accepted into the pack and if he ever found the bastard who had made her this fearful he would rip him limb from limb. He was not even sure if he was not even just saying that or if he meant it literally.

She had been abused by someone, and by the way she had shut up shop as they had become a little closer he would have to guess an ex boyfriend. He may not have actually raped her or beat her up, but the threat had been there at least because she was so fearful. Another piece of the puzzle that was her life clicked into place. Why she was so far from home and why she had not returned when her job had fallen through.

Well he would have to treat her with a little more restraint perhaps and follow her lead. Let her decide the pace, until she was comfortable that was, then of course his dominant Alpha side would take over. Hopefully by that stage though she should know that he would never hurt her.

As they finished dinner he laid his hand on top of hers and smiled. "So still up for that drive out to the country. It's not as far as you think and maybe we could have desert out there. It might give us time to actually digest the meal we just ate," he chuckled. "If you want you can follow me. Don't worry about the roads it is all good surfaces all the way to my front door," he assured her.

Sasha had just finished her steak when she felt his hand on hers and her eyes widened. On instinct she pulled her hand away, but regretted it immediately. She gave a little smile, though it was clearly uneasy. "Yes, I am. I would like to see this place." 'Though a part of me just wants to go home and cry', she thought as she said about wanting to go. Remembering had really shaken her up. Her ex-boyfriend had told her that someday he would come back for her and she would be his and only his. Even though Sasha felt like crying, she kept her professional face on, hoping that Jason didn't know the difference in her attitude.

Jason caught her body clues and his hackles went up literally and a small growl started in his throat which he had to suppress quickly. He was not mad at Sasha but at whoever had done this too her and he did not want to scare her away. His protective side had kicked into full gear now and he just wanted to protect her now and no one was ever going to harm her again as long as he was around, NO ONE.

Woah, that thought had been intense even for him. He was a pretty nurturing person by nature and often took in strays and made sure his pack was well looked after, but this was something beyond that. This was on a primal level. The level of if someone had threatened her he would actually kill them without a second thought and absolutely no regrets.

Even now when he could tell she was miserable, all he wanted to do was comfort her until she felt better, but he knew he couldn't. They didn't know each other well enough yet. Still he dared to touch her hand. "It will be okay Sasha, I am sure the wolves will cheer you up. Just follow me and soon you will be able to relax under the stars and let all your troubles fade away," he smiled at her.

Sasha blinked as she felt his hand on hers again and this time she didn't pull away. He knew. He had to have seen the change in her or he wouldn't have said about cheering up. Sasha was a whirlwind of thoughts but she smiled and nodded. "Yes, I'm sure they will." Sasha sincerely hoped so. She needed a cheerfulness in her life.

He left the money on the table knowing exactly how much it was and a generous tip for the waitress knowing that she wouldn't have understood Sasha's actions and she really shouldn't have had to put up with it. Besides the food was excellent as always and her service had been great.

He led Sasha out to their cars and helped her into hers, watching the shadows and keeping his nose to the wind. "Okay, we are heading north out of town on the main road. It is a pretty straight shot from here with only a few turns but I will keep an eye out so don't worry. Once out of town we have about a twenty minute drive then a left turn for about ten minutes that takes us to my place. Then about two minutes up the drive and follow me around the side to my parking area. You okay with that?"

He saw her nod and he got in his truck and set off. He kept a close eye on her, but traffic was light and she had no problems keeping up, even the lights did them a favor and soon they were cruising on the highway out towards his place. He indicated early for the turnoff and then again for his place. He had hit the gate opener before he turned so they were able to just drive in and he waited until he was sure she was in before hitting it again to close it.

He drove up towards the large main building and saw only a few cars were there but drove around back to his cabin. Well house really, but compared to the multi storied mansion in front it looked like a cabin and he called it that. He parked in his small carpark and got out waving Sasha into the spot beside him. As she got out he grinned. "Welcome to the ranch and my own little slice of paradise."

Sasha followed Jason out of the building after he payed and she kept silent as she did. She went with him to the cars and smiled as he helped her in hers. "Thank you." He then gave her directions and she nodded after he was finished. She then shut her door and turned the car on, keeping her composure for now. She followed him the whole way, keeping herself calm.

When Sasha saw the house she was shocked. It was huge. Wow they must be rich. Her family was well of as well, but not like this. They DID NOT have a mansion. She followed him back around and was surprised to see another house. Wow. Just wow. Now she knew how big the business she worked at really was. They then got into the parking area and she drove into the spot behind him. "It's huge." She was still looking all around her, amazed at all of this. She then muttered, "It must be paradise if you only share it with your brother and parents who you say are on the other side of the world." She hoped he didn't hear that though as she said it and had a look like I never said what I just said. It was actually her version of the innocent look.

He chuckled as he helped her out of her car. "Don't worry about it, most people are shocked the first time they see this place but the truth is my brother and I only own the house. The main part is owned by a group company that built and maintains it. My Brother and I are the chairman's of the company, but there are a lot of members. We all contribute to the preservation of the wilderness and wildlife around here. We buy up any land that becomes available and petition the government to declare more of the wild land state parks."

He led her over towards his house and opened the door. It wasn't locked and he gestured her inside. Straight inside the doors led into a huge living room with plush couches and a fire place and television. There was also a stereo system. "Make yourself at home. I will just open the curtains and you can see the view." Jason grabbed a small remote from where it was hung near the front door and pressed a button. The drapes across from them rose to the ceiling and nearly the whole wall on the other side was one big single window open to the prairie area and the woods. The view was spectacular and you could even see the large verandah area outside where they would be sitting later.

Jason smiled at her reaction and gestured towards the kitchen. "I was going to make a coffee. Did you want one, or I could make you a tea, hot chocolate or any kind of soft drink you wanted. Or did you want an alcoholic drink?"

Sasha smiled as Jason chuckled. "Shocked is not the right word for me. More like the struck by lightning sort of feeling. Even if you own one part it's still big. I am happy that you do things for the state parks." Sasha let Jason lead her to his home and she walked in and again was stunned. Not as stunned as before, but this was a bit luxurious. He told her to make herself at home and that he would open the curtains and then he did. Sasha went over to the window looking out at the nature surrounding this place. It was amazing and Sasha just stared.

Then Jason talked again and Sasha smiled. "Just a Dr. Pepper if you have any please." Sasha then turned her attention to the view outside. It was so beautiful. Sasha had an urge to take her shoes off and just run, like when she was a teenager and used to run with that one pack.

Jason grabbed her drink from the drinks fridge. It was always kept stocked up with a huge selection of stuff as Dean's friends and his were always dropping by, so he had no problems finding a Dr Pepper. He just grabbed a water and then returned to find her staring outside. Leaning up against the wall he just quietly stared at her, drinking in the sight of her. She had the sort of look of longing he knew he sort of wore sometimes, the one that said all he wanted to do was shift forms and go running in the woods and leave the cares of his human half behind.

Of course she might not be thinking those exact thoughts he smiled wryly but she was definitely thinking of running free out there. He coughed lightly and came towards her holding out her drink. "Breathtaking isn't it. It's a lot better if you just sit outside and soak it all in as well. Then you get the sounds and the smells that go along with it. C'mon I will show you my favorite place."

He grabbed her hand firmly but not too tight and led her through the back door and down the long verandah area. He had not bothered with the lights, he knew this place so well and besides to him it wasn't even dark out yet. Down the backyard and then to what looked like a large stack of hay bales. He led her right up to the back then pointed at the metal rungs at the back. "Just climb up and at the top is a nice flat area between a gap. There are a couple of chairs and a cooler. Grab a seat and I will be right up behind you. Believe me the view is worth the climb."

Sasha was still looking out the window when she heard Jason cough and looked at him, smiling apologetically. She knew that he probably noticed her staring out the window. She took her drink, liking the feeling of the coldness from the drink. He then said about it being breathtaking an she nodded abd then he led her outside. She instantly smiled, loving the fresh air. He then led her to some rungs and she climbed up sitting on a chair.

Jason joined her and laid down in the other chair. From where they were they could see all the way up the rolling meadows up to the pristine woods in an uninterrupted view. This side of the valley was kept just as nature wanted it and attracted all sorts of wildlife. Deer, Rabbits, Vermin, small creatures of the forest, it all roamed free out here and they hunted it all when they were hungry.

He smiled at her and then he picked up the faint sounds of Deans small pack calling to one another. He didn't think she would be able to hear them yet but they were definitely on their way home. He had left the back porch light on to let Dean know there was a non member of the pack on the premises so he would bring the pack in by the tunnels, but they would still run by in full view so that she could get a good look at them. In fact if he knew Dean he wouldn't be surprised if he didn't put on a little show.

"Well Sasha I hope you like the spot. The hay bales should keep whatever slight wind there is tonight off of us, and we can see the whole valley from here. As long as we are still the wolves won't notice us in the shadows and ou should be able to get a good look at them. Most times they run right through the field and then disappear down a little stream bed towards the end and back into the woods." He laid an alibi for why she would not see them reappear after they disappeared into the tunnel system. "I just hope that tonight is one of the nights they appear."

He grinned knowing they were already on their way.

Sasha just smiled as she looked at the lovely nature, the sights and smells overloading her senses and she smiled, very happy. Her heart opened once again and her eyes lit back up. She started to thaw becoming more relaxed and comfortable, the magic of the forest abd valley and all its creatures wrappinf her in its arms. "Magical."

For a second Sasha wondered how anything could be so peaceful, but decided to not worry about it. She would enjoy the time she had and absorb every smell, sight and sound and when things got hard she could just remember this and be at peace again.

Sasha then turned to look at Jason as he spoke smiling. "I love this spot. It overlooks a lot and it's so peaceful. So wonderful and beautiful. If Sasha could paint she would do a painting of this place. It was so beautiful and wonderful and magical, it made her nearly burst with happiness. "I also hope the wolves appear, and maybe see one of the wolves from my nice dreams." She did not mention that on the nights she didn't dream of the wolves she had nightmares, still about her ex-boyfriend. She pushed that thought aside though as she sat, smiling happily, just enjoying the nature that was all around her.

Jason smiled wider as he saw her truly happy again. Just seeing her happy sent a warm glow through him and he didn't care that he knew that one of the wolves in her dreams was actually his brother. If showing her him was going to make her happier then he would do that because that was what he wanted to do for her.

He cocked his head as he heard the calls again and he grinned at her. "Well it looks like you might get your wish. There is definitely a pack on the way. They should be here in about twenty minutes I would say. You might want to drink up now because believe me, when they start flowing over that hill you won't want to move."

Actually he wasn't sure with her. All the other candidates he had ever brought out had always frozen at the first glimpse of the pack as they had come flowing over the hill, even in a small pack. He had a feeling that Sasha might just want to get up and go run with them however. Another reason he had led them up here. It was too high to jump from and he was sitting nearest the ladder to prevent her from climbing down.

Sasha saw Jason cock his head and then she heard the faint calls of wolves. It was very faint, but still there. It seemed Jason heard it as well by what he said. Sasha decided to take his advice and drink her Dr. Pepper. Sasha chuckled as he said about not wanting to move. "Actually I might want to climb down and get a closer look. Oh and don't try to stop me, it just makes me aggrivated when people think they can tell me what to do and stop me from doing what I want. In certain areas that may be okay but with this, I just don't think you want to do that." Sasha had noticed he had sat closest to the ladder and was warning him if he planned to prevent her going down if she wanted to.

Jason chuckled. So she had noticed and was warning him off. "Very well Sasha I will not try to stop you but I was only trying to protect you. I get the feeling that the pack you used to run with invited you in though," he warned her, "This one has not so will probably not be as friendly towards you. It might be an good idea just to observe for now and then try to get closer later. This is not a one time invitation you know," he told her smiling.

He heard them getting closer and from the sounds knew they were only a hill over. He had trouble interpreting calls in his human form but he could tell they were happy. They must of had a successful hunt tonight and were celebrating on their way home. They normally didn't talk this much, allowing Dean to set the pace and call them in when it was time.

He waited and when he heard them calling at the bottom of the hill he eased back into the shadows putting a hand on Sasha's shoulder and motioning her back. "Look to the edge of the forest and wait. They will be coming out any minute now," he warned her. He could already smell his brother on the air and sense his presence. They had always been able to do that with each other. As soon as they got within a mile of each other they just knew where the other was and what they were feeling. He smiled as a warm feeling of happiness and contentment stole over him. Oh yes it had indeed been a good run for his brother.

Sasha shook her head, laughing. This guy had a lot to learn about her. "The pack didn't inviteme right away. My mother showed me what to do. Though I have some feeling that one wolf here will need to approve, when I didn't with the other pack. With the other they let me in, but here I need a certain approval." Sasha tilted her head, going into her mind and her mind clicked, something happening again.

Sasha heard Jason's words, but they were faint and she went around him and climbed down. She went onto the verandah and went on her knees and closed her eyes. She openee her senses. Her mind went out and she could feel the wind caressing her, the smell of the trees swaying with the wind, the earth under her. She let her eyes stayed closed and let her mind start running, doing what her body would not and her head leaned back just a tiny bit.

Jason was shocked. He had watched her climb down the ladder looking like she was in some form of trance but he had not paid it too much attention as he had followed her trying to keep her out of trouble. However when she had assumed the communal position and thrust her head back and forwards at the same time, he whole body yearning towards the forest he knew he had to do something.

That other Pack she had encountered had been the one her mother had run with and had obviously accepted her because of it. She had inherited some natural traits of a Were but had not been born a fully formed one. What she was doing now of course was natural for a wolf in human form with it's own pack, but not in foreign territory. In fact it was considered rather rude.

He quickly allowed his own senses to expand outwards and managed to find his brothers mind. They had a very limited form of telepathy when close that did not work with words or pictures but more with sharing their thoughts and feelings. He let his brother see what was happening and then faded back into his own body. Now it was up to his brother to decide what to do. He meanwhile would keep an eye on Sasha's body.

When Sasha's mother had shown her this position while being shown to the other pack, Sasha hadn't felt right and was bothered, but here it just felt so right. It was like she was one, but something was at the back of her mind and her body went back to being straight but still kneeling. Two parts of her were fighting. One part wanted to go back into that position and the other said it was bad. Sasha got a pained expression because of this and her head went back and forth and a loud whine went from her as she tried to calm down. Her mind snapped back and that just made it worse and she whined again, over and over, not stopping.

Jason heard her whining and knew she was having a war within herself. He didn't know why but he would have to find out. However that would have to come later, right now he had to sort this out or the poor girl could literally fry her own brain.

He walked over to her and grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her to her feet and talked to her telling her to come back. When that didn't work he tried yelling, but again there was no response. She was too locked within her own mind to hear him, to far into wolf mode to understand what was going on in the outside world, but not far enough gone to understand she should go back fully.

That gave Jason his final idea. He reached out to his brother again and then allowed his own inner alpha out and together they sought her out. It wasn't as if they physically ran anywhere or did much of anything, but the two of them allowed their large essences to fill the valley and then picked up on her struggling little spirit and ordered it back into her body. To them her spirit appeared as a glowing bitch female still unformed as yet. To her it would have probably looked like two giant male wolves. One brown with a black tipped tail and black socks, the other black with brown tip and brown socks. The bitch quickly retreated back into Sasha's body and Jason felt her sag in his arms.

He thanked his brother in their special way and knew he would be here soon. He retreated back into his body and heard his brothers howl as he rushed from the woods. He roused Sasha who was still groggy but he pointed towards his brother who moved fluidly over the ground. "I believe that is the wolf you came to see my dear," he smiled at her in some relief.

Sasha now was completely in her mind and she felt like screaming, she couldn't take it, it was like she was burning from the inside out. She just wanted the burning to stop as she kept whining. Her head going back and forth, her eyes shut, not being able to open them.

Then suddenly she felt a calm start to come over her and her body relaxed and she sagged, her eyes fluttering. She then felt Jason. "Huuuhh?" He then pointed towards a wolf and she saw it was the one from her dream. "Yes, it is." Sasha smiled and watched the wolf mesmerized.

Dean ran towards the house his legs pumping, his lungs sucking in the air, tongue poking out of the corner of his mouth, all of his senses alive. He loved the feeling of the earth beneath his paws and the power this form gave him, the freedom to run for miles and hunt and then run some more.

He had been returning from a successful hunt with his crew when his brother had warned him of their visitor. He had in turn warned the pack and they had changed their plans and headed towards the tunnels instead of directly towards the ranch. Dean was intrigued. Jason never brought Norm's up to the ranch when he knew a pack was running unless he thought they were a candidate and normally it was discussed beforehand. Just who was this person.

Then suddenly Jason was in his mind again asking for his help and Dean got the impression it was serious. He ordered a halt and then took to the spirit and saw the bitch in trouble and along with his brother ordered her home. Returning he was now officially curious. it was a girl and his brother had never been interested in girls before. He had ordered everyone home at full pace and streaked ahead making for their house.

As he approached it he saw his brother supporting a woman and when he saw her it was like he was hit by a bolt of lightning. He had never seen this woman before but it was like he had known her his whole life. He approached her slowly and sniffed her curiously, looking at his brother for an explanation.

Sasha watched as the wolf came towards them sniffing the air and Sasha sat up. "Hi, I don't know if you can understand me, but just didn't want to be impolite." Sasha's heart was pounding watching the wolf come closer and then look at Jason. Hesitantly Sasha reached out a hand and scared but not able to stop herself petted the wolf's fur going down his head towards his back.

Jason watched Dean approach and had to suppress a chuckle. He had never seen his brother so timid around a woman before, but if he was feeling anything like he was he could understand. There was just something about her. Even as she reached out a hand to stroke him he had to resist the urge to leap out in front of him and growl claiming her as his. Indeed his lips had pulled back from his teeth and his posture had become a little more threatening but he suppressed it quickly. She had asked for this and he had said it was okay. He would remain true to his word.

Dean approached her sniffing every step of the way. He was getting conflicting scents from her. Both wolf and human. The wolf was very faint but it was there and for some reason he was very drawn towards it. He approached warily, scared by this new sensation but when she touched him his mind exploded and a feeling of this being right flowed through him. He would protect this woman with his life and would bring her into the pack as soon as possible.

Then he caught a whiff of his brothers scent and saw his posture before he hid it. No it wasn't possible. Two wolves could not fall for the same woman in the same way. It just did not happen. There was only one soul mate for each one of them, but the feelings flowing through there bond now that he opened himself up to it proved it. He was the same. Oh god now what was going to happen.
