The Bachelor/ette's Homemaker's Lessons

I remember when I used to go over to my ex-fiancee's house a lot and her mother would be using the dishwasher. I can remember at least 3 incidences where she would "improvise" with regular dish washing soap and invariably get a foamy mess all over the kitchen floor. Not to mention not cleaning the dishes. She seemed shocked each time.

I wish things could've ended differently between her and I, but I am glad she did not end up being the woman I blend genes with.

to my credit, i only did it once....

just a little different...

Regular dish washing soap does NOT work in the dish washer.

and when a recipe says blend ingrediates, you dont REALLY need the blender.

Actually you can use regular dish washing soap, you just don't use as much. A few drops will get the dishes clean, and if you use anymore than that you'll have a big mess. But you know that, don't you? :D

Ok, this isn't necessarily something for the home, but it's usefull anyway. I found this on accident. A glass of green tea (hot or iced - doesn't matter) will cure canker sores over night. People with Crohns Disease get canker sores really easily. Once I had like 7 canker sores, and I was at my grandmas. She offered me some tea, and I drank it. Immediately I noticed that my canker sores were going numb. That in itself was awesome, but the next morning when I woke up all but one of them were gone, and that last one was gone by that night. Now I keep green tea around the house just for when I get canker sores, cause it works so well.

Oh, and another thing I found out on accident, although this one is useful to the home. Rubbing Alcohol, put in a bottle and sprayed, will take care of urine smells. My sister lived with me for a while, and her kids - because of the turmoil going on in their lives - were having some trouble with wetting the bed. Suffice to say that my daughters mattress began to reak! Then, last year, the kids got lice. Rubbing alcohol also works to kill lice and nits, so me and K were spraying all the furniture and everything with it. The next day, the pee smell on that mattress was gone. Now this could have been coincidence, so I have tried it on other places where it smelled like pee, and it always works. I also had a neighbor try it on a place that her cat had peed (and we all know how BAD cat pee stinks) and it worked for her too. It's great. And since alcohol evaporates REALLY quick, you don't ahve to worry about it molding or anything.

Dishwashing detergent has abrasives that dishwashing liquid does not have. Much like pussy and ass, you can go from the former to the latter, but not the latter to the former.

all it is is bleach in a non-sudsing form.

Hey, why don't you leave the chemistry to us little girl. You just sit there and look pretty. I know I've said this before, but nice mouth. I'm a big fan of the gap.

:) ok

Here's my pretty cool tip of the day...

You know how leftover spaghetti gets kinda sticky and gloms all together when you nuke it? If you take the cold noodles and drop them into a colander and pour boiling water from the kettle over them, they'll reheat nicely and be all fresh and good again. This only works though, if you store the sauce in a separate bowl, like I do. Otherwise, it'll rinse off all the sauce.

I know, it's easier to put it all in the same bowl and it saves on the washing of the dishes, but I don't like it when stuff touches each other. I'm so weird, I used to make my own lunches so that none of my sandwich stuff touched. Like my bread slices and my turkey slices and my cheese slices were all in separate zipper bags.

Yeah, I'm weird. But you folks all knew that already. :p

I bought a carpet recently that is continually fuzzing up and getting lint everywhere. I am having to vacuum it everyday, or more often if I want it to look sharp. What can I do?

Buy a can of static guard..spray it all over, then vacuum.
